The 2017 BMW Alpina B7 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine which produces 600 hp at 5750rpm and 590 lb-ft at 590rpm. The BMW Alpina is powered by an 8-speed automatic which directs all the power to the rear wheels. 

The Audi S8 makes the most power - 605hp. Following this is the BMW Alpina B7 making 600hp and then comes the Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 making 577hp. 

2017 BMW Alpina B7 Acceleration Performance

The BMW Alpina B7 does the 0-60 sprint in 3.4 seconds and the standing quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds, it will go on to achieve a top speed of 193 mph. These are very good numbers for a full-fledged luxury limousine. 

The Fastest 0-60 is set by the Audi S8 of 3.3 seconds. Then comes the BMW Alpina B7 with a time of 3.4 seconds, with the Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 trailing with 3.8 seconds. In the standing quarter-mile, the BMW Alpina B7 and Audi S8 match a time of 11.6 seconds. Then comes the Mercedes-Benz AMG S63 with a time of 11.8 seconds. 

2017 BMW Alpina B7 Handling and Steering

If there is one parameter where the BMW scores over its rivals, it is the drive quality, and the Alpina B7 didn't disappoint. The new suspension is pure magic, even on bad roads. As it is an all-wheel drive, the seasoned BMW tires give a magnificent grip and are very agile around the corners giving an extra dose of confidence to the driver.

The 2017 BMW Alpina B7 comes with big brakes, 15.5-inch rotors in the front, and 14.5-inch rotors in the rear. The brakes are vented and come with the features of an antilock brake system and brake assist. The brakes can bring the BMW Alpina B7 to a stop at 151 feet from 70 mph.

The BMW Alpina B7 can seat 5 occupants within the interior comfortably. The B7 interior is familiar as it is a more premium version of the already premium 7-series.

The front seats are 14-way power-adjustable seats with additional features of heating, ventilation and are also multi-contour seats. The interior leathers do have Alpina white as options along with BMW’s best leathers. For added comfort, there is dual-zone front and rear automatic climate control with separate controls for the rear seats. 

The front row seats of the above three rows offer 41.4 inches of legroom. However, it's the rear legroom that makes the difference, with the BMW Alpina B7 offering the most with 44.4 inches of legroom. Then comes the Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 and then the Audi S8. 2017 BMW Alpina B7 Cargo Volume

The 2017 BMW Alpina B7 has a spacious trunk offering 18.2 cu-ft of space, enough space to hold your bags, and even a few suitcases. However, there is no load lip to lift up the baggage. The rear seats are foldable leading to an extra room.

The BMW Alpina B7 offers the most trunk space with 18.2 cu-ft., then comes the Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 with 16.3 cu-ft., and with the least trunk space is the Audi S8. 

The BMW always looks sleek and stylish, and this one is the same as well. Alpina has made the 7-series much sharper when it comes to looks adding their own highlights to the exterior with Alpina Branding on the front spoiler and on the sides of the car. 

The stock set of wheels on the Alpina B7 are Alpina’s own set of 20” forged rims; there is a set of 21” rims of the same design available for a small fee. New for the car is two new paints which are Alpina’s own blue and green paint which we do recommend getting on the car. 

The Alpina’s dimensions are similar to the Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 and the Audi S8 Plus. However, a difference can be seen in the curb weight where the Alpina is the heaviest of the above weighing in at 4,820 pounds. 

The NHTSA has not yet rated the 2017 BMW Alpina B7. The IIHS, like the NHTSA, has not yet rated the full-size sedan as well. However, Alpina with its customization still includes a lot of BMW’s safety features for the car. Some of these features are:

BMW Alpina B7 vs Audi S8 Plus

The BMW Alpina B7 has far more advantages than the Audi S8 Plus. It obviously has a bigger engine which gives much more power to it. The dimensions and weight are much better too.

The fuel economy is slightly on the better side as well. What does go in Audi's favor has to be its price tag. But, we would go for the BMW Alpina B7.

BMW Alpina B7 vs Mercedes Benz AMG C 63

The good thing in this comparison is the fact of how closely both these cars match with each other. The Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 does have a bigger engine but the BMW manages to catch hold of them in the power generation.

The BMW Alpina B7 does offer more space in the back row and trunk space adding to comfort and practicality giving it an edge over the Mercedes-Benz 

The BMW Alpina B7 is a luxurious performance large sedan. It has plenty of power and good performance to make you drive it and even relax in the back seat. There is a lot of practicality to it too with a large trunk. With signature Alpina styling, what more could you ask for?
