Overall Rating
The 2019 BMW 3 Series Sedan is now in its seventh generation with mild structural tweaks and upgrades over previous model years. This time, BMW has focused on enhancing the power, handling, and technology for the 3 series.
The 2019 BMW 3 Series Sedan is now in its seventh generation with mild structural tweaks and upgrades over previous model years. This time, BMW has focused on enhancing the power, handling, and technology for the 3 series. Although, the 2019 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo Hatchback (reviewed separately) remains unchanged. Coming back to the 3 Series Sedan, the model gets the same turbocharged four-cylinder engine carried over from the last generation, but gains some extra horsepower and torque. The chassis looks wiser and promising, with a tuned suspension setup and other major refinements. BMW has also improved the steering to improve the drive feel.
Sadly, for 2019 you don't have many trims to choose from other than the 330i. If you can wait until next year, you can get the performance-oriented M340i. It all depends on what kinda driver you are. If you are just a daily driver, the 330i would be more than sufficient. You can decide on the packages to add to your 330, Premium, or Executive at a later stage. You may also check some used BMW 3 Series models that are available at attractive prices.

The competition matches closely with the BMW, offering pretty close enough configurations. The 3 series has really done a fantastic job with its powerful turbocharged engine.
As far as we could recall, the BMW 3 series used to offer the best in class 0 to 60 mph sprint. Now, the 2019 model manages to cover 60 mph from a halt in 7.1 seconds, while the rivals manage to score the same in less than 7 seconds. However, with a slightly laggy acceleration, the body control of the 3 series is remarkable and manages to bring out a balanced bodyweight distribution.

Mercedes C-class gives the 3-series a run for its money in this category. Both models are closely matched, and occupants of both will appreciate the space inside. Jaguar XE and Audi A4 aren't far behind though, and front row seats offer plenty of space.
The 3-Series offers a boot space of 13 cubic ft, which is decent for a compact luxury Sedan. It can easily swallow two large bags, and weekend getaways should be fun. There are also cubby holes everywhere in the cabin, providing additional space to hold little stuff.Â

The 2019 3 series looks appealing with the BMW's signature double grille while the overall lean appearance attracts more devoted fans. The 3 series is similar to what we saw in previous models years. The design updates in the third generation 3 Series are only mild. BMW has kept its focus on improving the power, handling, and efficiency of the Sedan.
The 3-series has a wheelbase of a smidge over 110.6 inches, which is technically the shortest among its rivals. It also is the lightest standing at a base curb weight of almost 3,300 pounds. Still, the Beemer manages to be quite easy to muscle around the town.

The 2019 3-Series has got an array of safety features like a blind-spot monitor, brake assist, electronic stability control, and lane departure warning. Many of the safety features don't come readily and are offered as an additional package at an extra cost.
The Mercedes-Benz C Class accommodates passengers comfortably and has a more powerful engine compared to the 3-Series. However, with the extra comfort comes a hefty price. The C Class costs around $5350 more for its base trim in comparison to the 3-Series. If you are not on a tight budget, you should go with the C-Class.
AudiA4 goes ahead of the 3-Series in terms of ride and handling. We believe that Audi A4 has got the best exterior looks in the segment. Audi A4 gets a slightly better fuel economy and engine performance compared to the 3 Series. Also, the Audi A4 braking performance is great when you drive across the highway. All these factors make the Audi A4 a desirable choice.
The Jaguar XE has a decent performing engine that returns 247hp compared to the 3-Series (255 hp). The Jaguar XE offers best-in-class acceleration, taking just 6.0 seconds to reach 60mph from a halt. The XE returns slightly better fuel economy compared to the 3 Series. If we talk about the overall appearance and creature comfort features then the BMW 3 Series tops the charts against the Jaguar XE.
The 2019 BMW 3-Series has been improved from its previous model years. Be it design or engine performance. The 2-liter engine’s performance has increased tremendously. BMW also boasts of offering best-in-class fuel economy with the all-new 3 Series. There are a plethora of packages available with the 330i model available in the lineup. You can customize your 3 series as per your needs. As per the sticker price, the 2019 3 series is a value-for-money sedan.
