Overall Rating
With a price tag going above the 200 grand mark, the Aston Martin DB11 goes all guns blazing against rivals such as the Bentley Continental GT, Porsche 911 Turbo S, and Ferrari Portofino.
The Aston Martin DB11 was introduced to the world in 2016 as a substitute for the DB9. With 4 years of being in existence, the 2021 Aston Martin DB11 carries on without any significant changes. However, to add zeal to the deal, Aston Martin has launched a new Shadow Edition for the 2021 DB11. The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 Shadow Edition, just like all the other such "dark" named packages, adds a black-painted grille, 20-inch wheels, and package-specific badging to the DB11, making it look a lot more sinister. The Shadow Edition also lends a dark tone to the 2021 Aston Martin DB11's interior.Â
The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 offers 2 engine options - a base 4.0L twin-turbo V8 and a more potent 5.2L twin-turbo V12 in the DB11 AMR Coupe, which is reviewed separately. Apart from Coupe, the DB11 is also offered as a Volante Convertible, which again is reviewed separately. Speaking of prices, the 2021 Aston Martin DB11 comes at a price of $205,600 MSRP. This is excluding a $3,086 destination and handling fee and a $1,195 acquisition fee. The 2021 Aston Martin DB11's lease price starts from $3,399 per month, for 39 months, with a down payment of $15,000.Â
The Aston Martin DB11 packs in more features and amenities than you’ll ever seek or need in a car. However, since it's an Aston we are talking about, the wide umbrella of opulence and convenience does not come as a surprise.
The DB11 is already a very expensive vehicle and comes with more than everything. However, if you’ve got some bucks to spare even after procuring a new DB11, we’d suggest you check out the Comfort Package.

The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 is available in a total of 2 trims- Coupe, and AMR Coupe, which we review separately. The base DB11 is powered by a V8 engine and comes in as the cheapest of the bunch with an MSRP of $205,600. The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 AMR is a track-ready weapon with a 12-cylinder engine instead of the V8 and sets you back by $245,900.
Though the Aston Martin DB11 is offered as a standalone trim, yet the organization gives you the opportunity to get creative and customize your DB11 according to your taste. Aston Martin offers you the option of personalizing everything in your DB11 - from wheels to leather detailing, seat quilting, seat split, brake calipers, door release, and even the badging. Anything and everything on the DB11 can be customized from the factory.

"On the move, there is a deep well of power to tap into, making it easy to pass slower traffic and ensuring that the big coupe is largely unaffected by inclines." - Carbuzz
The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 will get a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine underneath its hood that’s good for 503 hp and a peak torque of 513 lb.-ft. The DB11 AMR swaps the V8 with a 5.2L V12 engine that belts out a bonkers 630 hp 516 lb-ft of torque.
However, the gearbox remains unchanged with both the DB11s running an 8-speed automatic, putting down the grunt via its rear wheels. There is no AWD option on the DB11. The transmission setup on the Aston Martin DB11 feels precise and smooth. However, it does feel a bit keener on executing downshifts. Yet, once you pick up the pace and settle on a particular rev-range, it’s all jubilation.

The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds and can clock the quarter of a mile lap in 11.7 seconds, at a speed of 125 mph. Courtesy of spot-on power delivery, the DB11 feels eager to launch and rewards your eardrums with an ultra-seductive symphony from the V8 mill as you press the pedal. The DB11 gets 15.8-inch discs at the front and 14.2 inch ventilated discs at the rear helping in decelerating from 60-0 mph in a distance of105 feet.
The 2021 Aston Martin DB11's specs are quite impressive, however, when placed against the rivals, the Aston loses its shine. The Porsche 911 Turbo S' 640 hp 3.8L twin-turbo flat-6 leads the charts, making it the fastest coupe here with a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds. The 2021 Bentley Continental GT is also quite powerful, with a 4.0L V8 belting 542 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque.

The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 gets a fuel tank capacity of 20.5-gallons which lends this grand tourer some serious mile crunching prowess. The cavernous fuel tank along with decent mpg figures lend the DB11 an overall range of 410 miles in mixed driving conditions.

Considering its big and brawny V8 mill and handsome power, the DB11 may get considered as a gas-guzzler but breaking all misconceptions, the DB11's fuel-efficiency cab be considered decent for a V8 car. The 2021 Bentley Continent GT is slightly less fuel-efficient than the Aston, but its 24-gallon fuel tank capacity lends it a better range.

"The inside of every DB11 is a plush environment that can be customized with fanciful leather colors and exotic materials." - Car and Driver
Open the wide and heavy door of the DB11 and you’ll be greeted by a cabin that infuses some of the best materials and ergonomics ever found in the grand-tourer history. The dash of the DB11 looks much more modern and appealing than other Astons. The interior of the 2021 Aston Martin DB11 pays homage to authentic British heritage with tons of soft-touch leather, appointed on most of the surfaces, and with contrast stitching further multiplying the charm. Apart from leather, there is a lot of wood and carbon fiber inserts that break the monotony.Â
Speaking of space on offer, the front seats of the Aston Martin DB11 are the paradigm of luxury, with more than ample space available in all directions. The seats are extremely comfortable and aptly cushioned to make you go miles without the slightest of fatigue. The front seats are very well bolstered to hold you in place as you go attacking some corners and also get multiple electronic adjustments, in order to help you find your ideal driving position. However, the 2 rear seats that the DB11 has are tight and are best left for children or additional luggage only. The DB11 offers a cargo capacity of 9.5 cubic feet.Â

In case you’ve been in an old Mercedes-Benz S-Class and had some encounters with its infotainment system, then the infotainment panel on the Aston Martin DB11 will seem pretty familiar to you. The Aston Martin DB11 gets a revamped version of the infotainment system found on the older models of Mercedes. All the vital information is projected onto an 8-inch floating display that’s mounted atop the dashboard.
The system can be controlled either by a rotary dial on the center console or by the shortcut physical buttons clubbed with it. The system is not the best in the market, but it's okay in its operation and is certainly better than what Aston used to offer. Some of the most prominent interior and infotainment features of the 2021 Aston Martin DB11 are:
"There's clean-sheet styling – there are cues from DB9s of old, but the overall look is very fresh – and a new electronic architecture supplied by Mercedes." - TopGear
There is a reason why Astons find their name on the favorite’s list of Bond, James Bond. One look at the DB11 and you’ll understand what we are talking about. The Aston Martin DB11 draws major inspiration from the ongoing DB9 with similar design cues. However, the design language of the DB11 is much more chiseled and sharp than the DB9.
The Aston Martin DB11 is a total stunner with a wide and low stance. The front fascia of the DB11 is dominated by a wide grille that’s placed lower on the hood. What completes the front look of the DB11 is a set of LED headlights, and wide air intakes. The hood of the DB11 is pulled forward with defined creases increasing the masculine appeal of the coupe.

On the sides, there are air vents that remind you of the mighty power of this beast. The DB11 exudes masculinity and fascination from all angles. The charm has been carried all the way to the back through the medium of a roofline that dips elegantly towards the rear. At the back, the bumped-up hip along with sleeker smoked tail lamps and a large rear diffuser gives it a stronger and meaner look. Some of the most noteworthy exterior features of the 2021 Aston Martin DB11 are:

Speaking of crash tests, pieces of luxury and art like the Aston Martin DB11 seldom see the face of IIHS and NHTSA, and so, we don’t see those tests happening for the 2021 model year as well. The 2021 DB11 is loaded with a decent suite of safety features. However, driver-assist highlights such as blind-spot monitoring and auto parking are offered as optional. Some of the most eminent standard safety features of the Aston Martin DB11 includes:

The Bentley Continental GT shares its grand touring DNA with the Aston Martin DB11. Both of these exotics have been built with the purpose of munching miles with pace while providing the ultimate comfort to its occupants. The Bentley Continental GT is priced similarly to the DB11 but happens to be more powerful than the Aston. Apart from this, the Continental is just as good as the Aston in terms of fuel economy and has the best-in-class cargo area as well.
The Porsche 911 Turbo S is one of the most economical (comparatively) vehicles in the segment, and yet one of the most powerful contenders with 580 ponies tucked underneath its hood. However, what differentiates the Aston Martin DB11 and the Porsche 911 Turbo S is the character of these two cars. While the DB11 belongs out on the freeways, the 911 Turbo S is built to wreak havoc on tracks. Thus it does not come as a surprise that Porsche is the fastest car in the segment.
The Aston Martin DB11 is a capable grand-tourer that envelops you in ultimate luxury and packs in enough grunt to make the toughest of sports cars hide their face in shame. From the rational point of view, we’d say that there are a lot of cars that offer a lot more at the same prices, yet from the point of view we share with the aficionados reading this, we’d say that if it's this Aston that you are bowled over, you should definitely go and grab one. Well, if you can.
