The 2021 BMW 3 Series gets a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that shells out 255 hp and 295 lb-ft. of torque. If more power is what you seek then the M340i or the M3 powered by a turbocharged 3.0L inline-6 should surely quench your thirst. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission which is rather great to drive. 

The 2021 3 Series comes with an RWD configuration as standard. Adding BMW's Drive AWD costs an extra $2,000. With a high torque delivery, the 2021 3 Series takes just 5.6 seconds to reach 60 MPH. The front wheels get 12.3-inch disc brake rotors while the rear wheels get 11.8-inch disc brake rotors that can bring the 3 Series to a standstill from 60 MPH in just 103 feet. 

With higher peak torque obtained at lower RPMs, the 2021 3 Series is a machine that dominates this particular segment.  The Mercedes-Benz C-Class might be the closest in terms of acceleration but takes longer to brake. The 2021 BMW 3 Series delivers an excellent fuel economy of 26 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highways. With a combined mileage of 30 MPG, the 2021 3 Series is the most fuel-efficient car in its class and is placed at the top of its rivals.

Audi vehicles are known for their tech-savvy cabins. However, they fail to deliver the joy and driving pleasure that the BMW does. Also, the 3 Series offers a cargo capacity of 13 cubic feet which is better than the A4. BMW's iDrive system feels as intuitive as Audi's MMI interface. The Audi A4 comes in a little more economical at a lower MSRP but then again it's a decision based on personal choices. We would no doubt pick the 3-Series again.

2021 BMW 3 Series vs 2021 Lexus IS 300

With a starting price of $38,560, the Lexus IS 300 is almost $3,000 less than the 2021 BMW 3 Series. It packs the same engine as the 3 Series but doesn't reflect the same kind of performance. In this aspect, the 3 Series is an all-around, with good on-road manners, fuel economy, and cabin layout. The IS 300 claims its points in terms of exterior design. Its sharp and sleek profile has an edge over BMW's design.
