The 2022 Audi e-tron was Adui's 1st all-electric vehicle launched in 2019. The 2021 model received only some changes and the same can be expected from the 2022 model.

The 2022 Audi e-tron has finally been launched in the US with not a lot of changes from last year with prices starting from $65,900. While the 2022 Audi e-tron GT is worth all the hype, the 2022 e-tron SUV gets a refreshed trim lineup with an all-new Chronos Edition replacing the currently range-topping Prestige trim. The 2022 Audi e-tron Chronos Edition gets equipment such as Black Optic Package, S-line exterior bits highlighted in Chronos Gray Paint, and orange brake calipers inside black 21-inch wheels as standard.

Available in a total of three trims- Premium, Premium Plus, and Chronos Edition, prices for the 2022 E-Tron SUV start from $65,900 and go all the way up to $83,400. The e-tron is also eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500 in select states. In terms of rivals, the e-Tron takes on the likes of other electric SUVs such as the Jaguar I-Pace, Mercedes-EQC, and even the Tesla Model X.

Buying Advice

We'd suggest you go for the base Premium trim of the Audi e-tron as it gets all the bells and whistles you'd expect from an electric SUV of this price range. We'd also recommend you to get the available Conveniece Package that adds features such as black exterior trim, the latest MMI interface, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and a 360-degree camera system.

Engine and Performance
7.5/10

The 2022 Audi e-tron SUV will not see any changes inside the hood, as it will be powered by the same 95.3-kWh Li-ion battery pack that runs two Dual Coaxial Asynchronous electric motors, on each axle. In total both these motors generate 355 hp and up to 414 lb-ft of torque. The Audi e-tron offers hassle-free charging and is equipped with drive modes that function as per the demand.

You can change between modes while the powerful sport mode generates up to 402 hp and 490 lb-ft of torque. The drive is helped by a Quattro all-wheel-drive system that offers better traction over off-roading conditions, however, the system fails to offer the engagement that comes with gasoline-powered engines.

Electric SUVs are much more cost-friendly to drive but the real problems still remain with the range and charging. The MPGe figures for the 2022 Audi e-tron is not yet released, however, we expect it to be the same as the 2021 Audi e-tron's MPGe figures, which is 78 miles on a single charge. The Audi e-tron offers a range of 222 miles on a single charge.

You can recharge the e-tron even with a domestic connection or at your home using a 240-volt outlet or in public using a Level 2 charging station. Exterior
9.0/10

Keeping with the Audi design language, the 2022 Audi e-tron will have a wide grille encased between the digital matrix LED headlights. The styling of the e-tron is very balanced and cohesive. The overall styling isn’t daring, which is a good thing because the E-Tron blends in with the other Audi's well.

The all-new 2022 Audi e-tron Chronos Edition will up the styling game with elements such as orange brake calipers, Black Optic package, and S-line exterior bits highlighted in Chronos Gray paint, and 21-inch wheels. However, if the SUV design ain't that exciting for you, you can always consider the Audi e-tron Sportback that brings an altogether different perspective with its fastback roofline. The 2022 Audi e-tron will also get a charging port on both sides for enhanced convenience.

Competition
8.0/10

Audi e-tron Vs. Jaguar I-Pace

Audi e-tron has not been able to prove itself when it competes with others, such as the Jaguar I-Pace. However, it only has a good interior space on offer. The Jaguar I-Pace is a mighty electric SUV it however remains behind in the comparison mainly because it lacks a formidable road presence and after-sales service. Also, the 80 MPGe in the city of the Jaguar is admirable.

Audi e-tron Vs. Mercedes-Benz EQC

The Mercedes-Benz EQC offers the best in class luxury on the inside, but when compared to the Audi e-tron, the Mercedes-Benz EQC proves to be much faster and powerful and offers a better range. The only place where the Audi e-tron is better is its cargo space, making us favor the EQC.

Final Verdict

The 2022 Audi e-tron will not bring along any major changes. However, with the introduction of an all-new Chronos Edition trim, the e-tron surely ups its styling game, but at a premium. All in all, the Audi e-tron is comfortable and premium on the inside drives well and is quite tech-savvy. Though the e-tron's range is a bit meek against that of the direct rivals, but what's worth noting here is that the e-tron also happens to be more affordable than other electric SUVs of this segment.
