I have an 2019 Q8, as soon as I hit 85,000km everything went downhill,
Alternator , start stop, starter, fuel pump, electrical sensors,  cruise control still in fault, the only good thing working out for me is that my lease is due in juin 2023.

As a prior owner of a 2018 Q5 , happy with that SUV model, the Q8 seemed a stylish upgrade with more space but I expected little else. The 2022 Q8 is in a totally different class.  The comfort in the seats and ride is world class, the updated infotainment is huge (better resolution screens with touch), and the autonomous driving features are hugely improved (no more “wiggle to satisfy” nag, now you simply have to make contact with the wheel).  Overall thrilled with the vehicle.

I had a 2018 Q5 prestige which I loved. In 2019 I saw that this came out and wanted one. I ordered my Q8 prestige and finally after 7 months I got it! Love the look, interior, plenty of front and back seat space (im 6'2 and fit perfectly fine), the interior lighting and all the safety features. A few tiny things I don't like is the all piano black, very little center console storage, missing some features that BMWS have like self parking but love Audis interior look much better , and remote start which bugs me the most because is 2022. No Audis come with remote start. Was thinking about an enron but decided not ready for electric yet. Looking forward to enjoy my Q8 :)

I purchased my Q8 late March '19. The vehicle has been amazing thus far and I do not regret the purchase. I have all of the options less the $5k stereo and night vision. I bought one off the lot that had just arrived with the major options I wanted:  (Prestige, Lux Pkg, Year One, Adaptive Chassis, Tow Pkg, Cold Weather Pkg). I actually went to the dealer to test drive a Q7 and saw a Q8 in the showroom.  Test drove one the next day and decided right then it was a Q8.  Two months of intense research, learning as much as I could about the vehicle, and checking inventories, I made the purchase.  

The GREAT: Drives more like a car than an SUV. Handles great. Feels solid on the road and feels safe. The driver safety features are amazing.  I fell in love with the interior on the first day - no other vehicle on the market (outside of Audi) has such a nicely integrated dash and technology. None! It looks nice.  I've seen a handful on the road since I bought mine and they look great!  The back seat space is huge - no complaints from any passengers.  You feel pampered in this vehicle, for sure.  Towing capacity is 7700 ibs.  (Haven't towed with it yet.)

The 'BAD': It is easy to go fast without even trying or realizing how fast you're going! I've hit triple digits making a simple pass and it was unintentional. Be careful with this vehicle or you'll get a ticket for sure!  There isn't much cabin storage. There is no remote start (I guess it's illegal in Germany so they don't put it on their US imports either.)  European models have self parking (via phone app) which is not on US models ??  That would be amazing.

UPDATED REVIEW: OCT 2020
Still an amazing vehicle. No issues with the car. The MMI has blacked out once or twice but has come back on its own or after an MMI reset (holding down the volume knob for 10 seconds).  I have just under 15k miles.  Everything works well.  Car still runs smooth and still feels solid with no rattles or squeaks.  Fit and finish are excellent.  As of this date, I would definitely buy this vehicle again.

Audi Q8 - 19 month review

I have had the car for 3 weeks. Love the look. Different than most others on the road. Very comfortable and quiet.    Still learning to use all the tech but very happy with my first Audi. Have had almost very other luxury brand suv and glade I made the choice

First off, I have to comment on how safe I feel driving the car especially on the highway at higher speeds. It gives me peace of mind given that I transport my six grandchildren routinely. The car is extremely comfortable but I’m a short individual and have to sit fairly close to the dashboard.  A right-hand armrest that could be raised and lowered as needed would enhance my comfort since I don’t reach the center console while driving. In addition a seat bolster that inflated the sides of the seat would enhance the car’s comfort for someone of my stature.  A bit more storage room in the center console would be nice but I absolutely love the phone charging pad which does take up some of the room in the console.  In addition, I  love that the car verbally tells you if you leave your cell phone behind as you exit the car; that’s awesome!  The stereo system is incredible, and the fact that you can modify and personalize the screens for your favorites enhances the car’s ease of use.  The ride is so smooth you need to watch your speed because the car is quiet, and accelerates  readily.  I absolutely love this car.

Best Car I’ve Ever Owned

We purchased this car one month ago and love driving it. It hits the road outstanding and you barely feel any bumps. The interior is designed beautifully except you can’t see the gas gauge so we almost always forget to put gas in, otherwise it’s outstanding

Power is adequate. It delivers great looks combined with a refined ride and the best looking interior available. Love all the little details associated with the interior deign language. Safety features are exceptional. The MMI is intuitive, feature rich, and enables the driver to customize the lighting, Virtual Cockpit, and driving style with Audi Drive Select. The Luxury and Dynamic Packages add beautiful leather accents, wonderful massage seats, air suspension and rear wheel steering. Overall the vehicle delivers fantastic quality and huge value!

Cool Coupe Styling Cue with Frameless Doors

Purchased a highly optioned Q8 (air suspension, 4wheel steering, full leather, 5K B&O stereo, all S-line packages).  Was comparing against a Cayenne S of the same model year.  The Cayenne S was not quite as nicely specced as the Q8, but obviously has the more powerful motor than the standard Q8.  Porsche does their full leather interiors a bit nicer and covers some areas Audi does not, like the lower door panels.  The Q8 was significantly quieter inside, but the Cayenne did not have the noise insulated glass option (which made a difference on my prior generation Cayenne).  The Q8 did not feel nearly as engaging as the Cayenne, but I felt this made it more stately.  Not quite as removed as a Range Rover.  The Q8 is a rare bird on the road in my area of the country - more Cayennes and definitely GLSs or X7s.  In fact, since I bought mine, I have not seen another Q8 on the road, which gives it a little more of an exclusive feel, if that is important to you.    I gave it a 4 for the interior design, because I still like to have physical buttons for the climate control.  That may not be important to you.  In addition, the rear seats need to be put down manually and on a vehicle around 100K, that would be something I would expect.  Otherwise, the interior is excellent from build quality to tech features and ease of use.  With the S-line package, there are huge 22" wheel/tire.  Surprisingly good ride even in the dynamic mode (note: air suspension was optioned).  Overall, very pleased with the Q8.

Love this car. The key is to outfit it out all the way! Had a loaner Q8 premium and I couldn’t believe it was the same car! Sucks without Prestige, Luxury package, adjustable suspension, premium stereo, 4 wheel steering, and S line packages! So go big or go drive a Q4 e tron.

Perfect but Pricey

I’ve owned my Prestige Trim with the Luxury and Year One packages for about 4 months.  Absolutely love it.  Best styling out there for the “coupe style” SUVs, with the added benefits of a roomy second row and cargo area.  Fit and finish of materials are superb quality.

The vehicle handles very well, respecting its size.  The power is more than adequate, with plenty of on ramp and passing power when you need it.

If there is a weak spot, there is a bit of a quirk in the gearing and synchronization with the stop start system.  At times, the vehicle can feel a little sluggish at very low speeds in the regular drive setting.  I chalk this up to the EPA standards.  Simply turn off the stop start or put the gearing in Sport mode and everything works as would be expected for the torque and HP of the engine.  Read up on other consumer views of manufacturer stop start systems and you will see similar criticisms though.  So, it’s not just an Audi or Q8 thing.

I’m very happy with my purchase.  Put it on your short list if you are looking at the handful of coupe SUVs.

2021 update— my Q8 continues to put a smile on my face. Fit and finish remains top notch, love the drive.

I like the coupe-like SUV styling, having driven an Infiniti FX50 for many years.  But the Q8 adds in two areas where the Infiniti fell a bit short.  The interior quality and technology are top notch.  Very quiet interior with upscale materials and excellent fit and finish.  The tech works well, and though I do miss the buttons of yesteryear cars, the Audi system works very well for its layout, the interaction between the screens and the haptic response.  I also appreciate that Audi designers took the time to integrate the screens into the dash and didn’t just plop a screen on top as if were an afterthought.

The other area of improvement is space.  There is plenty of second row room making it very comfortable for passengers.  While the angle of the hatch impedes some measure of cargo space, for the most part it works well enough for me as I rarely stack cargo up to the ceiling.  The depth from the hatch to rear seats lets me fit all my kids gear and still have room for errand shopping.

It has very good power, especially once in motion. No worries when taking an on ramp at speed or passing on highways.  There is some initial sluggishness from a standstill in normal drive mode, but set it in Sport (simply another tap on the gear selector) and it adds the expected response from this engine/transmission.  It handles very well.  

In hindsight I may have opted for the rear wheel steering option to improve handling (spent my $$ on the Year One, Prestige, and Luxury options) but even that option won’t make it a Porsche Macan.  It is a 5k pound vehicle.

After a month of ownership, I’m very pleased with my purchase.  Feels upscale, drives great, and checks the boxes for practicality.

Have always shopped MB and BMW w/o much thought on Audis.  When the MB debacle associated with the GLE 450 added six months (or more) to my delivery date I got my deposit back and started doing a bit more research.  Never thought the "coupe" style SUVs were ugly personally, but I know they are polarizing.  The Audi does a much better job making a sporty vehicle, so I figured it was worth a test drive.  Loved the car, so ordered one loaded with all options less night vision.  There is a learning curve on the tech., but the vehicle is very well equipped.  Joy to drive and a four-hour car ride is about as stress-inducing as a jaunt to the corner market.  The added insulation and thicker glass, coupled with the upgraded audio system make it a fun place to be.   The mild hybrid system isn't remarkable and is largely focused on making the start-stop system smoother (it does).  Audi seems to have slightly outsmarted themselves on the system though as it will put the car in coast mode prior to a full stop and if you find yourself getting back on the gas while this happens you can have a bit of hesitation.  That hasn't been an issue for me, but others complain about it on the user boards and post workarounds like staying in sport mode and/or turning off the auto stop-start feature.  All and all I'm very happy with the Q8 in the early stages of ownership.  Probably rivals an S550 sedan for taking four adults on a long road trip with the added flexibility of an SUV.

I've had the car about 2 weeks using it as most suburbanites would.  I crosses shopped all the usual German and Japanese suspects and finally settled on the Q8.  I don't need a 3rd row, comfort is very important, and driving dynamics still matter.  It's an SUV so it won't be going to the track but it needs to get out of its own way.  With that context here is the good and not so great

This is a great car and I'm very happy with the choice.  To me this was the best combinations of style, tech, and comfort.  The interior of this car is outstanding and takes very little time to get up to speed.  You can't say that about BMW and MB.  I've had iDrive before and I could not get past that MBUX dashboard in the MB.  The Audi is just right without being over the top.  The drivers assistance is not triggering alarms every 30 seconds and the corrections are very subtle as to not be annoying.  The comfort was the reason I chose this car and am not disappointed.  Performance is about what you would expect in this class of car but it is not mind blowing.

There are a few quibbles about this car that you might not notice until you have lived with this car for awhile.  Forget about using D in the gear selector.  Go right for S (Sport).  There is an annoying amount of play in the gas pedal that creates a delay unless you opt for Sport.  Does not make the car go faster but makes it a more traditional drive.  This SUV sits about 1-2" higher than your typical suburban hauler.  It does not sound like much but it makes a difference.  The extra ground clearance might be welcome but it makes makes carting around elderly passengers more difficult and makes the load height in the back a little high if you don't have the air suspension.  Lastly, the A pillars on this car are pretty thick.  You will notice it the first time you pull out of a parking lot when you are moving your head around the pillar to see the oncoming traffic.  All in all these are small things in what is otherwise an outstanding vehicle.

Lots of leg room in the rear,but the driver seats seem compact in comparison to the Q7. I'm not petite and could really use a bit more seat room and make the console a bit smaller.

I’ve only had the Q8 a couple weeks, but consider me a big fan.  No one will confuse your Q8 for one of the other cookie cutter midsize luxury SUVs.  The car feels solid.  It has a comfortable ride and handles well.  Audi’s Multi Media Interface is user friendly.  The 3 screens are easily accessible and the wireless Apple CarPlay is seamless.  If you don’t need a 3rd row, it’s worth considering.  I spent several months researching this class of vehicle.  I couldn’t be more pleased.

This car has been a big hassle for us.

The auto start/stop feature is horrible, several times I've almost gotten into an accident at an intersection, and/or scared the heck out of pedestrians when I'm stopped and the vehicle suddenly lunges at them. And there has been no improvement in this issue since the firmware update in late 2020.

The rear hatch doesn't respond to the open command from the keychain, nor the sensors underneath it that are supposed to open it when you wave your feet under them. I took my vehicle into Audi service to have fixed and they couldn't fix, so we just left it the way it is.

Speaking of sensors, they're extremely erratic and go off for no reason. Not terrible but when you add everything else up, it makes them far more annoying.

The only reason I gave this vehicle two stars and not one is because I like the exterior design.

I would not go anywhere near this car and be very wary of buying a more recent model from Audi.

Not worth the money

We absolutely love the looks and all the technology in this car, however, we have had never ending issues with the front proximity sensors and Audi is doing NOTHING to fix it. Well...maybe that is not exactly true...they did tell us we could disconnect the proximity sensors! I feel that these are a must have safety feature and Audi’s advice is to turn them off because they can’t fix whatever is wrong with them. We have had the car back at Audi Chandler 4 times and have had nothing but excuses. We have been told that Audi engineers are working on the issue and their hands are tied. In the mean time our front sensors blast red flashing lights and warning buzzers while sitting at at stop light with nothing in front of the car...and when you need them to work they are silent. 

I started a ticket with Audi corporate in hopes they would escalate the issue and get the car fixed or trade the car out with one that works. Instead I waited 6 weeks for them to tell me they won’t do anything to fix the car. Not what you want to hear when you purchase an $80k car. The Hyundai I bought the kids works better than this fine automobile...thanks Audi.

Have 3k on our gas q8. Mush accelerator, typical slow computer to get it moving.  Same features as the Toyota I just rented in Florida but 3x the cost. Too gimmicky. No place for sunglasses, how hard is that Audi? My droid doesn’t charge in the cell holder which is behind my elbow in the console. So I carry around a charger in the glove box and I installed a cell holder.  Had to wire my radar detector all the way to console to get 12 volts cause the car runs on 38 volts so I couldn’t go into the engine compartment.  (Good luck if you need a jump). More road noise than my 2015 Dodge Ram; I.e. poor noise isolation in suspension even running tires at 26psi. Actually miss my 2014 Jeep grande Cherokee compared to this, which was quieter. Audi engineers need to graduate high school and think about the drivers and the layout.  Suggest you really test drive it before you plop down $70k. Radio is painful. Yeah. It’s just OK if you’re trying to impress you neighbors. It tries to do everything I suspect to compete, but misses the point of driving. Oh well, three years and it’s getting replaced. Would like to see some real reviews here.

We have owned Audi's for the past 10 years.  Our Q5 was hands down one of the best vehicles we have ever owned.  We decided to pick up a Q8 after a great Q5 experience and figured it would be even better since it is Audi's flagship SUV.  Boy were we wrong. It has been in the shop for repairs numerous times for locking malfunctions, MMI issues and most recently for a child locking malfunction.  The electronic locks on this car are absolutely atrocious and are a safety issue.  Besides that, it is one of the most quirky cars.  The MMI system does its on thing when connected to Apple Car Play.  Overall, Im not happy with it and am seriously not happy with my dealerships response to the issues with the locks.  We will be breaking ties with Audi and you have now lost a long time loyal customer.

I drove, researched, and compared all 3 of these cars for a month. It quickly came down to the Audi or the Benz, while the X6 delivered a phenomenal drive, I just can’t get over the direction BMW has taken on its interior design and styling, which does not ring a European aesthetic.Also my previous X5 M  did not age well, despite being routine maintenance and regular detailing, I just wasn’t willing to go back to BMW for this round.
The Audi had caught my eye from the very beginning, there is nothing else quite like it on the road, other than the similar Lambo.  The AMG has a striking exterior design which also captured my attention, until I opened the door. The cockpit with one long horizontal screen and row of 4 air vents just do not sit well with me nor read design or luxury to my eye. Huge disappointment, as it performed beautifully on the road, not too soft, but a heavy, tight grip and the driving assistance and safety options were my favorite of the 3, by a narrow margin. I just couldn’t get over having to look at the interior with its two dimensional horizontal and flat panel.  All 3 brands delivered fantastic performance that were more than enough to keep me happy. 
I chose a well equipped Q8 premium plus S Line, and love the car more now than when I purchased it several months ago. Styling and design lead the others, I notice a lot of stares, it is not as common on the road as the BMW or the AMG. The car continues to amaze me and I still learn a new tech feature on the car occasionally,  I agree mostly with the Edmunds review, especially on lack of storage and initial acceleration, Sport improves this, but it falls short of the BMW and AMG in this department. As I am mostly a highway  driver, the Audi is a blast to drive.
I don’t feel the review mentions the capabilities it deserves on its technology. The Audi sets a benchmark in the technology arena and the Audi pre- sense feature has already prevented what would have been a very bad accident, it performed like no other car I have ever driven or witnessed; to say the it’s execution was impressive is an understatement and I still get a chill thinking about my Q8 dodging the incident and stopping on a dime while I watched 3 cars directly in front myself pile  into each other. I was told I was lucky to drive away without a scratch on myself or the car.. This is my first Audi, and it is not going to be my last.
