Cars like the 2016 BMW ActiveHybrid 5 Sedan might not be able to give you the direct benefits one might expect from its hybrid powertrain. However, its use must not be overlooked. The ActiveHybrid 5 uses its 3.0L Turbo Inline-6 engine and a single-motor hybrid system, and a 1.35-kWh battery to produce 335 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. This gives the ActiveHybrid 5 a 0-60 of 5.7 seconds. It offers a single trim, starting off at an MSRP of $62,100.
The hybrid engine here is to support the gasoline engine to boost performance and offer slightly better fuel economy than what a single gasoline engine would be capable of. That said, the 2016 ActiveHybrid 5 achieves a combined fuel economy of 26 MPG. As part of the midsize sedan class, the ActiveHybrid 5 competes with the Infiniti Q70 Hybrid Sedan, the Lexus GS 450h Hybrid Sedan, and the Acura RLX Hybrid Sedan.
