It is Cadillac’s answer to the prospective buyers who are seeking aesthetics, luxury, and performance in a single package. We Recommend
We think that the Sport trim will be a better option for those looking for sporty exterior styling and interior creature comforts as well. It is about $1000 more than the lower trim and offers many features like bigger 19-inch alloy wheels, 18-way power-adjustable seats, sport bolstered front seats, rear spoiler, sport grilles, magnesium paddle shifters, etc. It also provides many optional packages like Brembo V-Performance front brakes, V-Performance package, Platinum package, etc to improve the performance and handling of the car.
Cadillac has not made any announcement about the launch and availability of the 2022 CT5 model but it had surely said that the performance-oriented CT5-V Blackwing edition would be available in late summer 2021. So, we expect the other CT5 models to follow it shortly.
The 2022 Cadillac CT5 is expected to be fuel-efficient as well. With its base engine and referring to the current model data, it is expected to deliver about 23 mpg in the city, 32 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg in combined driving conditions. With a fuel tank capacity of 17.4 gallons, it can travel upto 400 miles in the city, 557 miles on the highway, and 487 in combined driving conditions. With a 3.0L V-6 engine the efficiency figures 19 mpg, 28 mpg, and 22 mpg, in the city, on the highways, and combined driving conditions respectively.

The BMW 530i offers very good fuel efficiency and is equipped with a larger fuel tank as well. As a result, it also offers a class-leading range under all driving conditions. The Cadillac CT5 comes second in terms of range and fuel tank capacity, followed by Volvo S60 and Kia Stinger. Both the S60 and Stinger are equipped with 15.9-gallon fuel tanks.
The 2022 CT5 will largely remain unchanged from an interior point of view. It will retain its straightforward and minimalistic design approach. The dashboard is laid out well and all the necessary functions and controls are within the easy reach of the front passengers. The trim materials depend on the trim you opt for. The Luxury trim comes with low gloss axiom aluminum trim. The Premium Luxury trim gets wood or aluminum accents depending upon the selected interior. The Sport trim gets carbon fiber trims for a more sporty feel inside the cabin.
All the trims come with leatherette upholstery and the front seats are power-adjustable as well. The Sport trim gets bolstered seats for better support while cornering. The comfort across both the rows is decent To manage your small carry items, there are plenty of cubby storage areas available. Some features like ambient interior lighting, dual-zone climate control system, dual-pane sunroof add to the list of desirable features. However, the overall appearance and quality do not justify its asking price when compared with some of its German rivals.
The cargo space in the 2022 Cadillac CT5 will be disappointing. With just 11.9 cu-ft of space, it's difficult to manage all your luggage when planning a weekend getaway. Some competitors offer better cargo capacity than it. Also, it is important to note that most of the creature comforts and added luxurious features are available in the form of optional packages for which you have to pay extra over the existing MSRP of the vehicle. The Super Cruise Autonomous driving features will be available on the Premium Luxury and Sport trims as a part of the Super Cruise optional package.

All the cars in the comparison come with a seating capacity for five passengers. The Kia Stinger is the most practical car in the lot with its 23.3 cu-ft of cargo space. It is followed by the BMW 530i with 18.7 cu-ft of cargo space. The Volvo S60 offers the least cargo capacity of just 11.6 cu-ft. The Cadillac CT5 offers better legroom across the second row while the BMW 530i comes with better headroom across both rows. Some of the standout interior features of the CT5 are:
The infotainment system of the Cadillac CT5 is surely one of its USPs and the 2022 model will also come with the same intuitive and responsive interface. Like the 2021 model, the 202 models will also run on a CUE interface and a 10.0-inch multimedia touchscreen will be standard and placed on the center of the dashboard. It will support many features like Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD radio as standard. For wireless smartphone connectivity, you’ll also get access to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Also, there will be access to OnStar and Cadillac Connected Services via subscription. For all your musical needs, there will be a 9-speaker premium audio system. Although we would recommend the optional Bose 15-speaker audio system for a better and clearer experience. You’ll also get access to wireless phone charging from the Premium Luxury trim and the Navigation system can be availed via the optional package. Some of the standout infotainment features of the CT5 are:
The 2022 model will retain the exterior styling of the outgoing model. The exterior styling really stands out and is instantly recognizable in a parking lot. The front fascia imbibes two sleek LED headlamps with vertical LED DRLs extending up to the front bumper. The signature front grille with chrome outline and Cadillac logo on it is a typical Cadillac trademark. The long hood gives it an elegant look.
The side profile is that of a typical sedan and is devoid of any aggressive character lines. The smooth side finish lends it an executive look. The wheel size varies from 18-inch to 20-inch depending upon the trim you opt for and they all come in different designs for a more modern outlook. The rear profile is also beautifully crafted and the number seven-shaped LED tail lamps truly stand out. The two parallelogram-ish exhaust outlets look sassy and complement the overall design language of the car.

The BMW 530i and the Cadillac CT5 are closely matched with respect to their external dimensions. Similarly, Volvo S60 and Kia Stinger are similar in exterior dimensions. The BMW 530i is the longest and tallest car off the lot while the Volvo S60 is the widest. The 530i also sits on a longer wheelbase which aids with better high-speed stability and cargo capacity as well. The Cadillac CT5 offers better legroom across the second row but suffers from a lower cargo capacity. Some of the standout exterior features of the CT5 are:
The 2022 Cadillac CT5 model is essentially the same as the 2021 model. So we can expect the 2022 model to carry all its safety features. It will be equipped with many safety features like automatic emergency braking, 8-airbags, forward-collision alert, front pedestrian braking, HD rear vision camera, and some more as standard. The NHTSA has given the 2021 Cadillac CT5 a 5-star safety rating while the IIHS has not tested it yet. Also, one can opt for some optional safety features like adaptive cruise control, HD surrounds vision, Automatic parking assist with braking, etc included in the safety package. Some of the standout safety features of the CT5 are:
The Kia Stinger is a very capable car in many respects. It provides great performance at a great price which is hard to match for the Cadillac CT5. It also provides much superior handling than the Cadillac CT5 and has decent fuel economy too.
The Cadillac makes a point for itself with better interior space for passengers and better fuel economy too. The Stinger is the more practical option between the two of them as it comes with much better cargo capacity. However, the Stinger does not have any Autonomous driving technology which the 2022 model will offer at least as an optional package.
The Volvo S60 is known for its safety quotient and desirable interiors. However, it is more expensive than the Cadillac CT5. The Cadillac CT5 offers great styling whereas the S60 offers much better performance.
The fuel efficiency figures for both of them are quite similar. The Cadillac CT5 offers slightly better cargo capacity and interior space than the S60. Also, the availability of the Super Cruise autonomous driving feature on the Cadillac CT5 makes it a better option than the Volvo S60.
The BMW 530i is surely a well-built car. It looks good on the outside and the interiors are even better. The BMW 530i offers better performance than the Cadillac CT5 and the fuel efficiency is also the same. It is also more practical than the CT5, offering better cargo capacity as well.
However, the BMW is more expensive than the CT5 and can’t match the badass styling of the CT5. It is more like an executive sedan for the professional working class. The CT5 offers very good safety quotient and autonomous driving technology, something which is missing on the BMW 530i.
Based on the 2021 model, the 2022 Cadillac CT5 is the amalgamation of many desirable features into a single sedan. The CT5 looks great on the outside and is about good on the inside but can't match the premiumness of some other sedans out there. The CT5 scores really well in the safety department and the fuel efficiency is good with its 2.0L engine as well.
If you are hungry for more power, you can go for the 3.0L engine. Although the handling won’t suffice to handle higher power output and we expect that Cadillac makes some changes to offer better handling. Overall, it’s a good car and we won’t mind recommending it but won’t ignore the fact that there are better cars out there which might just suit your needs perfectly.
