The XT5 is Cadillac's midsize crossover SUV that is getting a bit old. The rivals like the Lincoln Aviator and Mercedes GLE have newer designs. Yet, Cadillac is doing a good job keeping the XT5 up-to-date. The 2021 XT5 comes with wireless functionality for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Cadillac XT5’s strengths might be a stylish exterior, a sizable cargo area, and easy entry and exit. However, the rival SUVs offer a more complete luxury experience.
The 2021 Cadillac XT5 is available in three trims, namely Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. The XT5 starts off at a price of $43,995 and goes up to $55,095. The starting Luxury variant is the starting of the ladder while the final fully loaded model has been named Sport which gets a V6 engine, resulting in a jump in the power figures as well.

Which Trim should you buy?
Cadillac has offered three trims to choose from. The Sport trim would be a better choice considering that it comes with more features in addition to those in the base model. It also has a powerful V6 engine compared to the Inline 4 in the other two trims at a price of around $56,000, making it the best value for money offering.
The XT5 has two engine options on offer: an Inline-4 and a V6. Both engines are very capable and powerful, but both engines let us down in the fuel economy department. The Inline-4 engine is observed to be an underperformer in terms of the fuel efficiency figures. When compared to the Inline-4, the V6 at least puts a smile on the face by being on par with the other V6 engines in the segment in terms of efficiency. The SUV comes with a fuel tank capacity of 19 gallons, which is the highest in the competition.

Out of the four, Buick Envision seems to be the most economical of all, thanks to the small Inline 4 engine. With 22 mpg in the city, it is one mpg better than the BMW and the Caddy, and with 29 out on the highway, it is ahead of both by a margin of two. When comparing the combined mileage, Volvo is just too far ahead of all the other three cars at 27 mpg.
The 2021 Cadillac XT5’s interior has not been changed from the 2020 model. The seats are plush and comfortable, giving a supportive and luxurious feel. An optional Platinum package offers more colors and materials to the already rich interior. Cadillac has enough space for large passengers on both rows. The instrument cluster and the dashboard are finished in wood and aluminum, giving a premium feel to the XT5. There are plastic bits on the inside that could have been covered off to make the cabin feel nicer.

BMW X3 turns out to be the most spacious car of all, but Volvo XC60 offers the most cargo space. Buick is the last on this list, while the Caddy offers pretty decent space in both areas. In terms of the trunk space offered, Cadillac comes just behind the Volo, which has the most space at 63.6,” while the Buick Envision has the smallest trunk at 52.7”. Major interior features include:
The 2021 Cadillac XT5 has a modern and upgraded version of the 8-inch touchscreen display from the 2020 model. The infotainment system works great. It includes several features, including sound system set up, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Navigation. The speaker system offered is from Bose, a 14 speaker system, which is customizable to offer the preferred setting.
The additional features offered are:
The 2021 Cadillac XT5 is covered with a lot of chrome on the outside. The front has a huge grille with chrome inserts all around it. The new style takes design ideas from the XT4 and XT6 and shares a similar layout. With a curb weight of around 4,000 lbs, the XT5 SUV does not feel heavy. The exterior is one sole reason for the love Cadillac XT5 has received so far. The sides have a floating pattern along with a sloping and swooping roofline, making it appealing to the crowd. The high rear tail lamps and silver cladding with pearl nickel alloy wheels make the 2021 XT5.

Volvo XC60 has the longest wheelbase and is the heaviest car of them all, although Caddy is the longest car on the list and the tallest too. When comparing the ground clearance, Volvo offers the most while Buick offers the least, measuring 8.5 and 6.2 inches, respectively. Major exterior highlights of the SUV include:
Cadillac does not skip on the safety features of its cars, and it can be seen from the safety it has offered with the XT5. The XT5 comes standard with 7-airbags, stability control, traction control, and ABS. The XT5 has further been offered with certain add-on features which bring up the safety capabilities of the car. These features include:
Cadillac's most important rival, both being from American makers, Buick provides strong competition to Cadillac. However, the XT5 just completely makes the Buick look small, slow, cramped, and that is what it is. The Caddy XT5 is larger, longer, and more powerful than the Buick Envision.
The 2021 Volvo XC60 is a car that turns out to be better than the Cadillac. In comparison, it is the one with the longest wheelbase and the heaviest but also is more powerful, more economical, etc. However, the Cadillac is a longer car with a short wheelbase, which makes it a better handling car. If we have to choose between the two, Volvo is the one to go with.
The 2021 Cadillac XT5 might be better than the BMW in certain aspects, but overall, the BMW X3 is way better and more advanced than the XT5. The biggest advantage here for the Caddy would be the price and the headroom available for the passengers, however, the handling and the performance of the BMW is too good for the competition.
Buying the 2021 Cadillac XT5 is an absolute yes from us because the car gives more for less. The Cadillac XT5 is a good SUV. This car is a really fun one that actually looks mature and feels comfortable. Being priced so competitively while offering such great features and comfort is a great bargain, and that is an opportunity to not be missed.
