There aren’t any dates assigned for the launch of the GV70 but Genesis has announced that the car will begin hitting the dealers in the second half of 2022.
The 2023 Genesis GV70 is a compact SUV targeting the luxury segment, which is based on the excellent G70 sports sedan and offers comparable driving fun with a higher sitting position and more load space. Both a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 and a turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder engine will be available as options. All GV70 vehicles come standard with 8-speed automatic transmission. The Genesis GV70 is a valued participant in the congested compact-luxury SUV market because it follows the customary Genesis strategy of packing even entry-level models full of premium goodies. Although rear-seat passengers might wish you'd invested in the more expensive and roomier GV80 SUV, we found the GV70's interior to be comfortable and well-made. The 2023 GV70 carries over with minimal alterations from its 2022 launch. Although it costs many times less than its rivals, such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC, the BMW X3, and Audi Q5, it never seems cheap.
The 2023 Genesis GV70 is broadly segregated into two parts based on eth engine it carries and the car is spread across 7 trims based on the feature list they carry. The base 2.5T trim is expected to sell for $42,900 while it goes all the way up to $65,500 for the 3.5T Spot Prestige variant. The brand-new GV70's base trim is stuffed with value. As one of the only trims without leather seats, it has the least luxurious feel of the group but is packed with cutting-edge safety and entertainment technology, along with the standard all-wheel drive. You might be surprised to find some really cutting-edge infotainment and driving assistance systems in the lowest level. There is an integrated navigation system, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay available on the 14.5-inch entertainment system. A 9-speaker music system and an 8-inch digital cluster with analog meters on either side are also included in the dashboard. Additionally standard are dual USB ports in the first and second rows. Those who fancy high-end materials in their car can opt for the top trim which will feature Nappa leather upholstery and carbon fiber trim for the interior.

Despite having the option to pick a more powerful 3.5L V6, the 2.5L inline-4 should be adequate for most of the tasks. Out of the 2.5 models, the Advance trim will be a great investment. By doing this, you can get heated steering wheels, leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, and a variety of driver-assistance functions, such as remote parking. The Select model's amenities, like 19-inch alloys, a panoramic sunroof, and a 16-speaker Lexicon sound system, are also included if you choose the Advance trim. It will be challenging to decide between the turbo four and the twin-turbo V-6 engines because both offer lively performance.
There aren’t any dates assigned for the launch of the GV70 but Genesis has announced that the car will begin hitting the dealers in the second half of 2022.
Both a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine and a turbocharged 2.5L turbocharged inline-4 will be offered for the GV70. The base engine is a 4-cylinder with 300 horsepower, and the bigger V6 with 375 horsepower will only be available on the Sport variants. While the G70 sedan's turbo-4 is available with a manual transmission, the GV70 will continue to come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The twin-turbo V-6 engine had noticeable agility, especially when driven in Sport Plus mode. The GV70 with the -6 produced an excellent 4.9-second 0-60 mph performance. In the same test, the turbo-4 came in with a result of 5.6 seconds, which was almost as quick.

The Genesis happens to be the most affordable option in this premium lineup but that does not make the Korean-manufactured SUV any weaker in terms of performance. In fact, the GV70 packs in the highest power and torque, making it quicker and faster than its rivals. A part of the reason is due to the slightly larger engine that the Genesis packs and the closest car to the GV70 in terms of performance timing is the Audi, while both the BMW and Mercedes-Benz need at least 6 seconds to reach 60 mph from a standstill. This also makes the GV70 one of the most valuable deals in the segment.
In our handling tests, the main differences between the two engine configurations became apparent. The GV70 3.5T's Germanic feel was commendable, but the 2.5T misses the last micron of precision, which we blamed on the tires. The 2.5T is a fantastic luxury SUV with an outstanding steering feel and input, but it lacks the 3.5T's extreme agility. It is hardly breaking news that a 4-cylinder vehicle with subpar tires can't match the performance of a vehicle with excellent wheels and tires.
The 2.5T GV70's 122-foot drawdown from 60 mph was two feet shorter than the 3.5T's. The brakes were smoking after some of our forceful, full-pedal stops, and there was a notable nose dive and tire screeching. Even yet, the stopping distances were very consistent across numerous testing, and the brakes held up. For what it's worth, the brake feel on both variants can be improved.

Genesis doesn’t pull off a party trick here and suffers from slightly weaker brakes when compared to its rivals. Despite being one of the lightest vehicles here, the 122 ft stopping distance is on the higher side, with the only car it beats being the Mercedes-Benz. Both the BMW and the Audi puts out performance car levels of braking performance. The lead here is taken by the BMW X3 despite it being the heaviest vehicle. The brakes equipped on the Genesis sit on the lower side of the scale and that explains the average braking performance that we got to notice.
The 4-cylinder turbocharged GV70 model with ratings of 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway is the most economical. Ratings for the twin-turbo V6 are 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Those opting for the larger 21-inch wheels may see a slight drop in the figures but it shouldn’t take away a lot from the standard ratings. However, these numbers are only achievable if driven with efficiency in mind as opening up the throttle and trying to push out power very often can end up using more fuel.

Even though the fuel economy of the GV70 is on the lower side, it does not drastically differ from what its rivals offer. The car that almost matches the figures pushed out by the Genesis is the Mercedes-Benz. The German however offers a slightly better gas mileage on the highway. Both the Audi and BMW offer almost identical gas mileage while the Audi has the overall advantage due to a larger gas tank. Audi is the only car that is capable of covering over 460 miles on a single tank of gas while the Genesis might need a fuel break way early during the journey.
The GV70's cabin design is more daring than its larger sibling, the GV80, and the exterior's sweeping lines continue inside for a unified appearance. The interior is lined with high-quality materials, and the finely knurled glass shift knob exudes luxury. The G70 sedan's small back seat is a popular complaint, and while the GV70 has extra capacity to provide back-seat passengers more legroom, it is still not very large. The GV70 is a fantastic SUV in large part because it is comfortable. Buyers can choose among options for heating, ventilation, and massaging on the highly adjustable front seats. The cushions on the back seats are likewise quite soft and have a lot of recline. An easy-to-use dedicated touchscreen is available for climate controls. The intensity of the seat heating and cooling is almost unparalleled, and the heated steering wheel is equally amazing. The luxury experience is completed by a quiet cabin, where dual-pane windows significantly reduce outside noise. Only very slight road noise could be heard on highly textured roads.

The Genesis GV70 proves to be one of the more spacious vehicles both In terms of passenger room as well as cargo space. Audi has a slightly better rear row legroom, making it the vehicle to keep rear row passengers happy but despite the space, the Genesis a very comfortable SUV. BMW suffers in terms of the rear passenger legroom but it revives itself in terms of cargo space with a massive 62.7 cu-ft space, putting it in the top position. The GV70 follows and this balance between the passenger room and cargo space is what makes the Genesis offering very practical. Those picking the Mercedes-Benz will be disappointed with its cargo space as it’s rated to be below the average standard.
Some standout interior features on the 2023 Genesis GV70 include
A sharp 14.5-inch touchscreen comes standard on every GV70. A concave dial in the center console, additional steering wheel controls, voice instructions, or touch can all be used to operate it. The long, lean touchscreen's numerous submenus can be intimidating at first, and it takes time to understand their logic. The main page displays up to eight tiles, each with its own submenu. Although Genesis allows the driver control over even the most obtrusive driver-assist features, understanding the submenu logic takes some effort. The navigation and map display can fill the entire space of the plane or be divided into a 2:1 display. The main drawback is the absence of wireless Apple CarPlay, which takes up two-thirds of the split screen display when tethered.
Some of the standout infotainment features on the 2023 Genesis GV70 are
In order to emphasize the athleticism of the SUV, the two-lined Quad Lamps have been placed slightly higher than the famous Crest Grille, which borrows its design from the Genesis emblem. The bumper bottoms are equipped with skid plates, which add to the SUV's commanding appearance. The exquisite Parabolic Line, which starts above the Quad Lamps and goes up the SUV's side, contrasts dramatically with the powerful rear fenders. The GV70's distinctive features are highlighted by its smooth, coupe-like roofline and the sloping C-pillar's chrome line. The ultra-thin, two-lined Quad Lamps are used as the taillights in a similar fashion to the headlights and the placement of all functional components in the bumper contributes to the car's incredibly pure and clean appearance. Other minor design elements that emphasize the GV70's dynamic appearance can be seen on the rear, such as a body-colored diffuser, a vertically curved muffler, and a bumper with a G-Matrix pattern.

The Genesis GV70 is a long SUV but since the vehicle sits lower to the ground and isn’t as tall as its rivals, the SUV looks sleek and dynamic in comparison. However, the low ground clearance makes it less capable over a rough stretch of road and the low height might make taller passengers bend slightly more when entering the vehicle. The largest vehicle here is the BMW and that justifies its excessive weight. The GV70 however does use the lower stance to tackle corners with a sharp line and manages to keep the body roll within controlled limits.
Some of the standout exterior features include
One of the eight airbags, which Genesis claims to be a segment first, deploys between the front seats to protect the occupants from colliding with one another or the console. Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian recognition, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, adaptive cruise control that stops at a stop sign, parking sensors, and automatic high beams are all included as standard safety features. The vehicle hasn’t undergone any crash tests for the year and similar was the case for the previous year with NHTSA when it was newly introduced. However, the outgoing model secures the “Top Safety Pick +” tag from IIHS, which tells us that its worthy of being awarded a 5-star rating if tested by NHTSA.
Some of the standout safety features available with the 2023 Genesis GV70 are
The Korean upstart triumphs in terms of aesthetics both inside and out since it is a more attractive and roomy place to spend time. The value angle shouldn't be disregarded either, given that it's fully loaded while the BMW still has unchecked option boxes. A lovely family vacation may be purchased with those savings. The X3 however is the driver's pick in this scenario thanks to its potent drivetrain and excellent steering. It is only slightly less roomy, and while it lacks the cutting-edge technology of the newcomer, what it does have is quite well-refined.
Genesis has been making waves in every market with its well-equipped, enjoyable-to-drive cars and SUVs, while the Audi Q5 has been a consistent award winner for a long time now. Although the 2023 Genesis GV70 has a variety of engines, high-quality materials, and engaging handling, we had to choose the Audi because the price difference isn't that significant. There is a level of sophistication and elegance with the Audi, and the gorgeous leather and wood inside only develop with experience.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC falls behind the Genesis in a majority of the aspects and considering the massive price gap between the two SUVs, it is evident that the GV70 holds more value, making it the ideal deal. The Mercedes however has a slightly more polished interior but Genesis does not lack in any way. The standard feature list is also massive on the Korean SUV.
The Genesis GV70 being the new entrant in the market comprising of many top players has managed to convey its message loud and clear. This luxury SUV has managed to provide high-end features for a rather approachable price point for many, stealing some of the rival’s potential buyers. Genesis has based this vehicle on the larger GV80 and that helped avoid flaws of developing a completely new vehicle, helping the brand make its mark. We suggest getting the Genesis to extract the most value out of the money you pay but if drive engagement and pleasure is what you need your luxury SUV to provide, the BMW X3 is the one to pick.
