Mitsubishi is turning things up, trying to restore its lackluster image. Every vehicle in its portfolio is currently undergoing or has got a vital refresh or significant make-over for the 2021 and 2022 model year. The vehicle to join this bandwagon is Mitsubishi's flagship Outlander crossover SUV. The Japanese automaker revealed the fourth-generation Outlander SUV through an online event on Amazon Live stream after having released plenty of teasers and running footage in the previous few months. The company has also announced that it will continue to sell the PHEV model of the previous-gen Outlander in the market and will launch a new model, later in 2021 or early 2022.
The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander will come to the market in April of 2021, before being introduced into other markets for 2021. The newest Outlander is an all-new SUV. Although based on the Nissan Rogue, is also said to have dynamism and character of its own. The Outlander sits in a segment that is ruled by stalwarts like the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4.

The Outlander gets bold styling like the concept car, the new “Dynamic Shield'' gives it an attractive appearance apart from its peers. The striking stamping across both sides and back helps update this three-row SUV, as the interior is also garnered in new bits.
There are changes in the suspension, a brand new powertrain, and a plethora of safety assists to get the Outlander the right choice from the segment.
2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Interiors
This fourth-generation Outlander grows in every dimension than the previous version. That translates into more interior space, particularly legroom and headroom in all three rows of seats. The second-row seats slide, recline, and can split 40/20/40 for added flexibility.
The standard 8.0-inch or optional 9.0-inch center touchscreen finally replaces the dated infotainment system. Other features include wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, USB charging ports, and a 10.8-inch head-up display.
Mitsubishi says that they have focused on offering a more plush experience to its customers with the new generation of the Outlander and the same is definitely evident from the first images that have been released by the company.
2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Powertrain & Safety Features
The Outlander is expected to get a reworked version of its 2.5-liter inline-4 that used to produce 181 hp and similar torque, coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive’s standard and all-wheel-drive are optional for some extra bucks. One of the biggest highlights in the safety package of the 2022 Outlander has to be the standard 11 airbags across the trim lineup.
On the safety front, the Outlander has standard automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, rear parking sensors, hill descent control, and trailer-sway control; options include adaptive cruise control and active lane control.
2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Release Date and Prices
Mitsubishi has just released the MSRP of the base trim of the 2022 Outlander that has been priced at $25,795. The company will reveal full prices of all the trims and feature details when the SUV comes closer to its sales in the market in April 2021.
