It has been a long that the current generation E-Class has been around, Mercedes-Benz launched it with a mid-cycle upgrade just last year. It will be a good 6 years to the model by next year and with an average shelf life of around 6 years, it seems that E-Class is soon in for generation change. Related to which there have been citings of new test vehicles based on the present generation of the luxury sedan with beefier wheel arches. The spy pictures also see wheel motion sensors hanging from the fenders and with that comes along bigger wheels and a tad higher ground clearance.

If not the new E-Class this can also be the next AMG GT 4-Door coupe as it also shares the same platform with the current E63 Wagon. The AMG GT 4-Door is much newer being launched in 2018, in fact, it has been reported to be soon launched with a PHEV setup that would crank up its horsepower to 800 hp. This can also be connected to the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class but the SUV being launched in 2019, this new spied sedan looks like it mimics the wheel arches and ground clearance with the all-terrain variant.

If this is supposed to be the next-generation E-Class, it seems like the new one will certainly have wider tracks and bigger wheel arches. This could also be the test vehicle for the E-Class All-Terrain variant. The number plates on the car suggest that the car belongs to the manufacturer and hence something is really cooking.

If this is indeed the new E-Class sedan with W214 overalls the production-ready prototype would be seen sometime in 2022 and it could really be released later next year. What we are seeing here might be the inception of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. This can also be the one that will go against the Audi's Allroad variant of the A6.
