The Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class has been spotted testing with minimal camouflage winter testing. The Mercedes-Benz GLE was previously spotted testing on public roads close to the factory sporting camouflage only on the front fascia and also camouflage on the taillights. Here is a closer look at the facelift given to the GLE-Class and also a closer look at the upgrades shown on the interior.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE has the entire front fascia camouflaged which shows that it is getting a facelift, but there are many elements that have changed. There is a new grille that appears to be larger than the previous model, but the grille design makes us believe that it is temporary as it does not appear to be a finished grille, but looks like a metal piece just modified to be a grille.

It also features new headlights which also wear headlights, from its shape we will say it is borrowed new E-Class and the area around it had to be modified to accommodate the change. The front bumper also features a new vent style on it, as it appears that the front fascia for the E-Class has been adapted to the GLE-Class, giving it is a new lease of life with its new design.

Coming to the back of the GLE-Class, the taillights also are wearing camouflage. We do reckon, the taillights are also now shared with the e-class sedan as they appear to be of similar shape and only the area around it has been camouflaged. The rest of the SUV does appear to be the same, with no modifications on the side of the SUV.

The interior does get modifications. It just adds a new steering wheel, the remaining is the same. Usually, when there is an exterior facelift, the interior does also get new additions especially in the form of minor design changes, this only features an updated steering wheel. Along with this, we do expect the latest version of the MBUX system to be standard and also a new set of colors and materials for upholstery.

In terms of powertrains, we do expect the standard powertrains available i.e. 2.0-liter inline-4 and 3.0-liter inline-6 with mild MHEV assist on the GLE 350 and GLE 450 models, respectively, and do expect it to come with both RWD and AWD drivetrains. However, this model is a PHEV model as there also appears to be a charging port on the rear left fender, the rear right fender has the fuel cap on it.

As rumors go, the rear GLE PHEV will offer more all-electric range than the previous model, with the help of either a larger battery pack or new battery energy management technology. As the 2022 GLE-Class is already available for sale, and this prototype is sporting the production body and updates, it is expected to be released in 2022 as a 2023 model year SUV, and be available for sale shortly after.
