Mercedes-Benz USA has released the USA sales figures for the calendar year 2021 and for the fourth quarter of 2021. The sales figures for 2021 comprised all models from sedans, SUVs, and even Mercedes Vans. A total of 329,574 units were sold in 2021, an increase of 1.1% from 2020. In this, 276,102 units were passenger vehicles, whereas 53,472 units were Vans. For the fourth quarter of 2021, Mercedes-Benz sold 76,031 models altogether, which was a decrease of 20.2% from Q4 of 2020. In 2020, Mercedes-Benz sold 95,306 units.

In the yearly sales count, the Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV was the most sold vehicle, with a total of 65,074 sales models sold. The GLE sales make up 19.74% of the entire sales for 2021. The GLE Class saw a sales increase of 35.1% from 48,154 units in 2020. In Q4 of 2021, the GLE model sold 17,495 units, as compared to 15,994 units in 2020. The GLE is the only model apart from the GLS which has registered a positive growth for Q4.

Apart from the GLE, the Mercedes-Benz GLC recorded the most sales for 2021, with a total of 51,805 units. This was a decrease of 1.6% from 2020, wherein 52,626 units were sold. In Q4 of 2021, the GLC sold 13,674 units. This, however, was a huge decrease of 26.6% from Q4 of 2020 wherein 19,639 units GLC units sold. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class sold the third-best sales in 2021, a total of 30,815 units. In 2020, the C-Class sedan had sold 26,294 units. 2021 showed an increase of 17.2% in C-Class sales.

The GLE, the GLC, and the C-Class together make up for 147,694 units of the 276,102 passenger cars sold by Mercedes, which represents a total of 53.49% of all passenger sales for 2021. In 2020 as well, the GLC and the GLE SUVs were the top two selling models in the lineup. Mercedes-Benz Vans also showed an improvement in overall sales from 50,999 units in 2020 to 53,472 units in 2021. This represented a growth of 4.8%. The AMG versions of standard Mercedes-Benz cars also witnessed a yearly growth of 11.1% with a total of 37,855 units sold.

At a price of $54,750, the GLE is expensive in its base form, but worth it all.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV starts at an MSRP of $55,700 and comes in three trim configurations: the GLE350, the GLE450, and the GLE580. The base GLE packs in a 255 hp turbocharged I-4 engine, whereas higher trims add more power and a hybrid powertrain as well. The GLE took 6.5 seconds for the 0-60 MPH sprint, and recorded a top speed of 155 MPH. The interior is well-built and packed with features, and offers two 12.3-inch infotainment units. The GLE SUV goes up against the BMW X5, the Audi Q7, and the Acura MDX.
