Hyundai Latest Updates:

Over a century ago, when the first gasoline-powered car was introduced to the world, no one ever thought of anything beyond it. Fast forward to the current day, these cars are now regarded as the dinosaur of the automotive industry. Car manufacturers today are releasing EVs and having plans to electrify their complete lineup in the coming years. However, Hyundai is not placing all of its bets on electric mobility, and the latest Vision FK Concept is a testament to that.

The Vision FK Concept is a hydrogen-fueled hybrid sportscar, which Hyundai has unveiled at the 2021 IAA AutoShow at Munich. The Vision FK Concept is a plug-in hybrid vehicle that Hyundai is developing alongside the Croatian electric supercar manufacturer Rimac, in which Hyundai holds a significant stake.

Know More about Hyundai:

A lot of other manufacturers have taken have released hydrogen-powered vehicles, such as the Toyota Mirai, Honda Clarity FCEV, and Hyundai Nexo. However, what distinguishes the Vision FK Concept from these, is a smart and innovative take on the technology. The Vision FK Concept has a mid-mounted hydrogen fuel cell setup and battery-driven dual electric motors driving the rear wheels.

According to Hyundai, this setup produces an impressive 671 hp and will achieve 0-62 MPH in less than 4 seconds. Rivian has played a significant role in developing the electric motors and battery pack in collaboration with Hyundai. What’s noteworthy is Hyundai’s statement that the Vision FK Concept will offer a range of 600 km, approximately 370 miles on the WLTP cycle.

Coming on to the visual aspect, though the Vision FK Concept was heavily camouflaged, we do see a similar design to the Kia Stinger with the fastback styling and a lip spoiler. However, the Vision FK Concept adds the visual flair (which happens to be a distinctive feature of all the upcoming EVs) with a 2-door design and unique side markers next to the taillights.

No other details have been revealed by Hyundai and have declared that they are all in for a greener future. According to Hyundai, they plan to make their portfolio entirely based on EV models by 2035 in Europe and by 2040 in other markets.
