The Tesla website has silently removed the production timeline of its Cybertruck pickup. The Cybertruck was scheduled to start production this year and the tri-motor equipped Cybertruck was scheduled to go into production a year after that. But this incident clearly indicates that now even Tesla isn’t sure about when the production could actually begin.

The last time we checked Tesla has silently removed the production timeline of its most anticipated electric pickup i.e. Cybertruck. Earlier the production of the Cybertruck was scheduled to begin by the end of this year but now it looks like it has been delayed until 2022. Thus pointing towards more uncertainty about the beginning of production of this vehicle. For those who don’t know the Cybertruck was announced back in 2017 and unveiled in November 2019

While on the other hand, another electric vehicle startup Rivian which showcased its electric pickup the Rivian R1T back in 2018 has already started dispatching the trucks to its customers. While coming to a mainstream manufacturer like Ford which also announced that its F-150 Lightning around May 2021 is scheduled to go into production by end of 2022. The Chevrolet Silverado EV which has been recently showcased at the CES 2022 will also be coming between 2023 and 2024.

While the GMC Hummer EV’s production is scheduled to start this fall. Thus if you look at the timeline the Cybertruck was revealed a really long-time ago and yet there are no signs of it or any confirmed start date for production. This definitely will be a huge blow to Tesla’s image as well as its share prices. Coming to the Cybertruck, it was expected to be manufactured at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. The Cybertruck was set to be available in three different motor setups.

The first two were the usual single and dual-motor setup while the top-most variant was supposed to come with a tri-motor setup. Even at the time of revealing the Cybertruck, Tesla promised that it will begin the deliveries of the single motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive first while the tri-motor equipped Cybertruck will come at a later part. But now it seems like getting your hands on the single or dual-motor Cybertruck is also a far-fetched thought.

At the time of its reveal, Tesla took a $100 refundable deposit for the booking of Cybertruck. The Cybertruck was priced starting at $39,900 for the base model while the mid-level dual-motor setup is expected to cost $49,900. The top-end Cybertruck with the tri-motor setup had a starting price of $69,900. Coming to the spec sheet of the Cybertruck, the base model with the single-motor and rear-wheel drive does 0-60 MPH in under 6.5 seconds and offers 250 plus miles of range on a single charge.

The mid-level variant with dual-motor and all-wheel-drive setup adds 50 miles more of range and drops the 0-60 MPH time by 2 seconds compared to the base model. While the top-end version with the tri-motor scheduled to arrive a year after the above two models will go from 0-60 MPH in under three seconds and will have a range of 500 miles on a single charge. That said, all the above data are what Tesla has claimed and none of this has been tested yet.

But even though Cybertruck hasn’t come yet if we compare it with the rivals then Rivian R1T starts under seventy grands and go over seventy-five grand for the top-trim. The top trim of the Rivian R1T does 0-60 MPH in 3.0 seconds flat and offers 400 miles of range. The GMC Hummer EV will start from eighty grands and the top trims will easily cross the six-figure mark. The Hummer EV will do 0-60 MPH in 3.0 seconds flat and have a maximum tow rating of 11,000 pounds.

The Hummer EV when launched will have a range of 350 miles on a single charge. The Ford F-150 Lightning on the other hand undercuts all the above with a starting price of just over forty grands but its top trim easily crosses the ninety grand mark. The best F-150 Lightning can tow is up to 10,000 pounds and offer 300 miles of range on a single charge. That said, the only thing that makes the Cybertruck so special is its maximum tow rating of 14,000 pounds which is more than what the above trucks are capable of.
