The heavy-duty pick-up truck segment has always been on a rage owing to its ‘do-it-all’ category vehicles.
The heavy-duty pick-up truck segment has always been on a rage owing to its ‘do-it-all’ category vehicles. The RAM 2500 is a formidable name in the heavy-duty pick-up truck segment. The 2021 RAM 2500 remains unchanged as compared to the previous year’s model. The RAM 2500 is one step above the smaller RAM 1500 and offers better-towing capability, better performance, and better payload capacity from its bigger V-8 base engine.
The 2021 RAM 1500 Regular Cab is available in two trim options namely the Tradesman and Big Horn. The Tradesman is the base trim and offers features that are most necessary for doing heavy-duty tasks and creature comforts take a back seat. The Big Horn gets some added comfort features over the base trim and is a more balanced trim.

Also, you get access to many optional features like LED reflector headlights, glove box lamp, 18-inch polished aluminum wheels, tinted acoustic windshield glass, heated front seats, 8-way power-adjustable seats and the list goes on.
All the trucks are fuel-guzzling monsters and they can’t be expected to offer decent fuel efficiency. They are equipped with V-8 engines and offer higher output figures, owing to which they deliver lower fuel economy. The RAM 2500 Regular Cab offers about 12 mpg in the city, 18 mpg on the highway, and 15 mpg in combined driving conditions. With a fuel tank capacity of 32 gallons, it can travel up to 384 miles in the city, 576 miles on the highway, and 480 miles in mixed conditions.

The F-250 offers slightly better fuel efficiency than the competition and is equipped with a 34-gallon fuel tank. It offers a class-leading range of 527 miles, on a full tank of gas in mixed conditions. The GM twins are not much behind and despite a lower fuel efficiency of just 14 mpg in combined driving conditions, they offer about 504 miles of range on a full tank of gas.
The interiors of the RAM 2500 are well laid out and ergonomically designed. The dashboard is modern and feels good to touch too. The vertical a/c vents with a multimedia touch screen in the center look very car-like. However, if you need a premium touch and better upholstery, you need to opt for the Big Horn trim only. It gets you seats with premium cloth upholstery and they are comfortable as well. They offer good support and are bolstered well too.
Both the trims can seat up to three passengers with the headroom and legroom being decent as per regular cab standards. You can opt for the Heated Seats and Wheel Group package for features like heated seats and heated steering wheel wrapped in leather as well. The Tradesman trim is focussed mainly on the commercial segment and misses out on some available creature comforts.

The RAM 2500 gets a higher ground clearance than its rivals and it adds to better off-road capability. It also sits on a shorter wheelbase as compared to the rivals, leading to lesser legroom than the rivals. However, the turning radius is less for a truck of its size. The GM twins sit on a slightly longer wheelbase and are bulkier as well, leading to their lower fuel efficiency figures. The F-250 gets a lower ground clearance of just 10.2-inches which is the least in the segment. Some of the standout exterior features of the RAM 2500 are:
The frame of the 2021 RAM 2500 is made from high tensile strength steel and it provides protection against high energy impacts. The NHTSA has given it a 4-star safety rating in a rollover test. Besides a strong structure, the RAM 2500 is equipped with some active and passive safety features like hill start assist, trailer sway damping, forward collision warning, rearview camera, trailer brake controller, etc, to make your ride safer and ensure your peace of mind. The 2021 RAM 2500 offers better performance and towing capacity as compared to the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. The Silverado offers a better-looking interior and is spacious as well. It is also equipped with a larger capacity fuel tank, giving it a better range than the RAM 2500. The list of safety features is more or less the same in both trucks. The Silverado 2500HD Regular Cab offers better cargo capacity than the RAM 2500.
The RAM 2500 offers better performance and towing capacity than the Ford F-250 as well. It also gets a higher ground clearance than the F-250, making it more off-road capable than it. The F-250 offers slightly better fuel economy than the RAM 2500 and a larger fuel tank, offering a better range than the RAM 2500. The braking performance of the F-250 is underwhelming and the RAM 2500 shines in it, with less stopping distance than the F-250.
The GMC truck is based on the same platform as that of the Silverado 2500HD. So, it offers better fuel tank capacity and despite less fuel economy, it provides a better range. The RAM 2500 provides better performance and better off-road capability than the Sierra 2500HD truck. The Sierra’s interior cabin is well laid out and modern, just like its close cousin, the Silverado 2500HD. The Sierra gets MuitiPro tailgate as standard for better loading and unloading of cargo.
The RAM 2500 is an extremely capable and well-built truck from the house of FCA. It offers class-leading towing capability and performance as compared to its competition. The list of standard safety features is also good enough, to provide you with peace of mind.
