Released just an ear ago, the 2011 Acura ZDX remains unchanged for this year. It carries the same V6 engine that generates a great power output but lacks in terms of the fuel economy that it provides
The Acura ZDX is a luxury crossover SUV with a sloping roofline and was launched back in 2009 as the 2010 model. The SUV is powered by a 3.7liter V6 motor belonging to Honda’s J-series engine family and puts out a power-packed performance. Out in the market, the SUV finds itself going up against competitors such as the Cadillac SRX and the Infiniti FX.
The 2011 Acura ZDX is offered in a fully-loaded single trim option and includes two packages to further enhance the feature list. The Technology package adds keyless ignition and entry, a navigation system with real-time traffic and weather updates, built-in 15GB hard drive. The Advanced Package includes all these features along with electronically adjustable suspension dampers, a collision warning and mitigation system, and a sport steering wheel.

Since the SUV is offered only in a single trim option, we would recommend you to pick it up with the Technology package which will cost you another $4,500 but adds a long list of useful features.
The Acura ZDX is powered by a standard 3.7liter V6 motor which is good for 300 horsepower and 270lb-ft of torque. The motor puts out a good performance but given its size, it might feel a bit lacking among its competitors. That being said, the performance is punchy for both city and highway usage, giving out a decent 0-60mph time of 7.9seconds.

The ZDX is absolutely at par with the competitors while the Cadillac SRX falls behind by a significant number in terms of power output. The Infiniti FX35 has the highest power output among the three on the list but the ZDX has the maximum torque output.
Since the Acura ZDX is a luxury crossover, it is not focused on delivering an excellent fuel economy. The ZDX doesn’t disappoint though with a decent fuel economy rating. The city mileage of the SUV is rated at 16mpg while out on the highways the number rises to 23mpg. The combined rating is quite good at 19mpg. The vehicle also comes with a decent-sized gas tank of 21 gallons which offers an overall good driving range.

All the competitors hover around the same fuel economy figures while the Cadillac SRX is the most economical one although by a slight margin. The Infiniti FX35 is the most powerful on the lot hence it offers slightly lesser economy ratings among the rivals.
The interior of the Acura ZDX is heavily driver-focused and comes with a cockpit-style design. There are plenty of leather trims inside and have a unique feature which is the monolithic center stack that fades to black when the car is powered down. All the controls and buttons are well within the reach of the driver and are quite simple to operate. The front seats are quite comfortable and supportive but the rear seats disappoint the most. Starting with a ridiculous headroom, the rear seats do feel quite cramped making average-sized adults brush their heads against the roof.

The Infiniti FX35 and the Cadillac SRX take the lead with excellent rear headroom and comfort for the rear seat passengers. Both the rivals do offer better legroom and shoulder room too.
The infotainment system of the 2011 Acura ZDX comes with a combination of some basic and premium features. The basic features include USB audio connections, Bluetooth, and XM Satellite Radio. The advanced features include an 8-inch display with navigation and ELS audio. The Technology Package adds real-time traffic and weather updates
Some of the highlighted features of the infotainment system include:
The exterior of the Acura ZDX looks quite unconventional and coupe-like. The front end looks like a lifted sedan with a chrome front grille and angular design headlamp units. The side profile looks a bit muscular with bulged-out rear wheel arches. The rear-end looks a bit weird though with a huge windscreen and a tailgate. The heavily tapered roofline reduces the rear seat headroom massively. Also, the ZDX has quite a low ground clearance which puts it into the sedan category despite being a crossover.

Both the Infiniti FX35 and the Cadillac SRX come with a proper crossover SUV appeal and features generous ground clearance for better practicality.
As is the case with all Japanese car manufacturers, they do take the safety of their vehicles seriously and the Acura ZDX is nothing different. It comes with top-notch safety scores from both the NHTSA and the IIHS. The NHTSA rated it a perfect 5-star while the IIHS gave it a perfect “Good” rating which speaks a lot about its safety aspect. Some standard safety aids of the ZDX include antilock disc brakes with brake assist, stability control, traction control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints. The Advance package adds blind-spot monitoring and a collision mitigation braking system paired with the adaptive cruise control.
Some important safety features of the Acura ZDX are:
The Acura ZDX is a strange vehicle to start with. It resembles a sedan, an SUV, and a sports coupe all at the same time. Even though it is marketed as a crossover, it is essentially a luxury crossover aimed towards a driver and front passenger since its front seats offer the best comfort inside its cabin. Overall, if you want a plush ride with a feature-rich cabin and a unique-looking vehicle, you might opt for the ZDX.
