Overall Rating
This full-size sedan from Buick comes in four trims, with two engine options, and with an optional drivetrain which you can opt for along with the powerful engine in the expensive trim.
The full-size sedan segment is not one of the easiest segments to find the right ride for your needs and most importantly the right ride within your budget, but the Buick LaCrosse is one of the saviors with a price tag that doesn’t hurt anyone’s wallet badly yet satisfies the comfort of a full-size sedan. The 2011 LaCrosse starts with a price tag of $27,130 and goes up to $33,900 based on the trims that you choose from.
The 2011 LaCrosse is completely a recommendable model, even the top-level trim stands at around $34,000 which is the starting price of some cars in this segment. But still, the most preferred trim among the three would be the CXL trim with the inline 4-cylinder engine option. The CXL trim offers the most number of the additional packages which can be used to customize the sedan as comfortably as you could, which is completely based on your needs, and also the 4-cylinder engine gives out the maximum mpg when compared to the V6.

As mentioned earlier this 2011 Buick comes with two engine options and two drivetrains, which makes LaCrosse the only car to offer a 4-cylinder engine when compared with the Chrysler 300 and the Toyota Avalon. Both the rival cars start with a 6-cylinder engine and the Chrysler even moves to an optional V8 engine.
The inline 4-cylinder engine in the LaCrosse produces 182 horsepower at 6700 rpm, while the V6 engine produces 280 horsepower @ 6300 rpm. Both the engines are controlled by a 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission which transmits the power to the front wheels in the case of the 4-cylinder engine and the V6 engine option feeds all the four wheels with equal power divided from the 282 horses.

The Chrysler 300 has the highest power output among all the cars, while the Buick loose to the fellow American with only 10 less horsepower, which makes the Toyota Avalon take the last position with its 268 horsepower. But the Toyota scores the first point by reaching 60 mph in 6.1 seconds which again pushes the Buick to second place with 6.7 seconds of 0-60 run timing.
One of the problems with the V6 engine is maintaining the fuel economy, which the Buick LaCrosse should’ve aced well but unfortunately, it didn’t. Yes, even the 4-cylinder engine provides only 19 mpg which is a mile less than one of the opponents with a V6 engine.
The 4-cylinder engine provides 17 mpg in the city limits and 30 mpg on the highway, while the V6 engine with All-Wheel-Drivetrain gives out 16 mpg in the cities and 26 mpg on the highways, whereas with the Fron-Wheel-Drivetrain the V6 engine gives 17 mpg in the cities and 27 mpg on the highways.

The Toyota Avalon turns out to be fuel efficient car in the lot, it wins in all the categories apart from the combined fuel efficiency which is shared by the Buick. While the Chrysler wins the Buick in the city limits by manages to score the same on the highways and comes below the LaCrosse in the combined fuel efficiency.
The primary advantage of choosing a full-size sedan is the spacious interior along with the sophisticated features to enjoy the ride. The Buick LaCrosse happens to be one of the few cars which provide adequate comfort and ride quality at this price in this segment from the beginning, and the 2011 iteration of the LaCrosse remains the same.
Apart from the spacious interior, the seats and the steering wheel comes covered in quality leather, which can also be spotted in the dashboard. The front-row comes with 8-way power-adjustable seats and 2-way power-adjustable lumbar support. While the back seats can be folded into a 60/40 ratio if in case you need more space for your cargo. Speaking of cargo the boot has 13.3 cu-ft of space, which is not the best in the segment but also offers some additional space inside the boot behind the foldable seat.Â

With a maximum seating capacity of 5, all three cars offer a good amount of interior space, but the Chrysler 300 turns out to be spacious of the three while comparing all the categories overall. The Buick again fails to impress us by coming third in the interior space and the cargo capacity as well. Even if it fails in the interior space, the 2011 LaCrosse comes with a lot of interior features and some of them are:
The LaCrosse comes with some of the basic infotainment systems available in the market. The fit and finish of the infotainment unit in the dashboard and the controls in the center console look great but their functionalities remain very low compared to some of the rivals. You have some good features to keep you entertained like the optional 11 speaker output but some of the new technologies like the voice recognition/command systems are missing. Below are some of the exciting features found in the 2011 LaCrosse:
The exterior look of the LaCrosse remains simple and elegant as it has been since its dawn. The hood gets two vents on the sides which cannot be noticed at first sight but it looks as simple as it can be, and the front of the sedan looks more ginormous than the sides and rear of the car.
There is no change in the exterior design of the car since it went a complete generation changes only in 2010. Buick provides a number of options to customize the sedan to an individual’s taste like the optional 18-inch wheels from the standard 17-inch wheels.

The Chrysler 300 is the heaviest among the comparison and the Toyota Avalon has the highest ground clearance of 5.3 inches and the Buick LaCrosse becomes the tallest vehicle in comparison. Apart from the exterior design upgrades and dimensions, the 2011 LaCross has a good number of exterior features some of them are listed below:
One of the aspects where this Buick excels is the reliability and safety ratings. Both the leading organizations in crash testing have rated the 2011 LaCrosse with the highest rankings, which makes this sedan one of the safest in the market. Along with the safety ratings, the J.D. Power has also rated the LaCrosse with a good rating of reliability, which increases the dependability of the car. Some of the safety features in the 2011 LaCrosse are:
The budget of the 2011 Buick LaCrosse is the only main advantage of the car since most of the aspects of the car remain subpar compared to the rivals. Only the safety aspect makes the LaCrosse equivalent to the rivals, which makes the Toyota Avalon a good buy if you are okay with spending some thousand bucks more.
