About 2011 Chrysler 300

4.0

Overall Rating

Now for 2011, Chrysler has decided to give a completely new look both inside and outside for the 300 Sedan. So, the job of Chrysler was to not screw up this iconic nameplate.

Back in 2005, when the Chrysler 300 was released, it was so dramatic, and it created a huge impact in the industry because it was purchased by all kinds of different people. Now for 2011, the brand has decided to give a completely new look both inside and outside for the 300 Sedan. So, the job of Chrysler was to not screw up this iconic nameplate. With that in mind, they had some key objectives to make the car just as dramatic to look at, make it more refined and upscale, and improve the interior and noise levels on the inside. Basically, to make it a better all-around car.

Buying a luxury car means enjoying all the luxurious features that come with the car. The base trim comes with a good mix of features but is missing on that premium luxury taste. Hence, we recommend you get the Limited trim to get the flavor of ultra-luxury. Overall, the Limited trim brings better value for money proposition in the lineup.

2011 Chrysler 300 Review

Pros

  • Excellent safety ratings
  • Elegant cabin
  • Powerful base engine
  • Intuitive infotainment system

Cons

  • Only one transmission option
  • Slow acceleration

Now for 2011, Chrysler has decided to give a completely new look both inside and outside for the 300 Sedan. So, the job of Chrysler was to not screw up this iconic nameplate.

Overview

Back in 2005, when the Chrysler 300 was released, it was so dramatic, and it created a huge impact in the industry because it was purchased by all kinds of different people. Now for 2011, the brand has decided to give a completely new look both inside and outside for the 300 Sedan. So, the job of Chrysler was to not screw up this iconic nameplate. Basically, to make it a better all-around car.

Buying Advice

Buying a luxury car means enjoying all the luxurious features that come with the car. The base trim comes with a good mix of features but is missing on that premium luxury taste. Hence, we recommend you get the Limited trim to get the flavor of ultra-luxury. Overall, the Limited trim brings better value for money proposition in the lineup.

Engine and Performance
7.4/10

The Chrysler 300 is equipped with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that churns out 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. For a big car, this engine moves out. It uses a five-speed automatic, but next year, it will come with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

When you drive the 300, it feels like a quality-tuned suspension. It’s quieter and much more pleasurable than the old one which was excellent. The steering is well calibrated and never feels twitchy, while the Pentastar motor is incredibly flexible. As far as the shifter itself goes, it’s one of those neat e-shifter units like the one in the Audi A8. That contributes to a more premium and upscale feel.

The pricey Toyota Avalon that produces only 268 horses is the fastest rival in this competition. Next to it is the Buick LaCrosse with decent performance numbers on the clock. The remaining rivals fight for third place on the table. While all its rivals use a six-speed automatic, the 300 is still employing its five-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel Economy
6.0/10

The Chrysler 300 stands mostly on par with its rivals in terms of fuel economy. In the cities, the 300 Sedan can deliver 18 miles per gallon and 27 miles in case of highway mileage. Its 19.1-gallon fuel tank is enough to deliver a combined driving range of 430 miles, which is quite good.

As expected, the Toyota Avalon shines in this field by offering unmatchable fuel estimates as it offers a combined mileage of 23 mpg. The city figures of the Chrysler 300 and the Ford Taurus are the same but the latter takes the lead in the highway numbers, and subsequently in combined figure too. Meanwhile, with just 20 mpg combined, the Buick LaCrosse loses in this field due to its poor fuel numbers.

Interior
8.3/10

One of the shortcomings with the old Chrysler 300 was the interior. The car looked dynamite on the outside but it fell short on the inside. The new interior is showcasing soft-touch materials everywhere in the cabin. A thickly-padded dashboard, a wood rim steering wheel, line storage compartments, and piping on the leather seats make up the luxurious interior of the 300. The giant sunroof makes the cabin feel bright and airy too.

When you have a big car, you expect a big cabin, and the 300 doesn’t disappoint. The front seats are wide, plush, and comfortable. A power tilt and telescopic steering wheel and power-adjustable pedals help you get dialed in just right. The rear seat is very roomy and comfortable for two but three is a bit of a different story. A large driveshaft tunnel takes up the place where your legs go. The 300’s trunk is pretty wide but it also gets pretty shallow. One nice touch, and the back seats fold flat.

Head and legroom are abundant in the Chrysler 300, so there will be no complaints from taller occupants. Compared to its rivals, the Ford Taurus offers only 38.1 inches of legroom in the rear row, which is less. But, it leads the table with 20.1 cubes of cargo capacity, whereas the Buick LaCrosse is behind in that field with only 13.3 cubic feet of space. Some of the other luxurious interior features of the 300 are:

  • Leather shift knob and steering wheel
  • Front & rear cup holders
  • Auto-dimming rearview mirror
  • Premium leather upholstery
  • Push-button start
  • Remote engine start
  • Heated front seats
  • Tilt & telescopic steering wheel

How intuitive is the 2011 Chrysler 300’s infotainment system?

The sparkly glittery gauges look neat but they are hard to read. They give off a lot of glare. There’s a giant touchscreen on the center stack for radio and climate controls. The fonts are large, and most of the buttons you touch on this screen are big and well-labeled. There’s also a set of redundant knobs and buttons below the screen for the most commonly used functions. A 6-speaker setup is standard on both models but it can be upgraded to a premium sound system. Some of the other features include:

  • USB port
  • In-dash CD player
  • SiriusXM
  • AM/FM radio
  • 6-speaker sound system

One of the main things Chrysler has done for 2011 is they kept the proportions but changed the silhouette. So, the grille is leaned back, and even the windshield is leaned back by three inches.

The rear edge of the decklid is stretched for better aerodynamics. To complete the facelift, the new 300 gets all-new exterior detailing, including all-new grille, headlights, taillights, and wheels.

Final Verdict

The 300 Sedan is a worthy flagship for the Chrysler brand. This big sedan is also a convincing luxury car, and it’s also by far the best car Chrysler has ever created. The 300 Sedan offers a presence of road manners unmatched by anything in its class. With a starting price of just $27,110, that makes it a great pick not just among its normal competitors but also a good value pick against midsize luxury sedans as well.
