Overall Rating
A higher trim, the XKR supercharged the same engine to push out 510 horsepower. The drivetrain is a rear-wheel-drive, while the transmission is a 6-speed automatic.
The Jaguar XK is the British automaker's marquee car. The car has a firm grasp on performance and offers finessed and spacious interiors to make it stand out amongst its competitive peers. Most notable is the performance, which is brilliantly specced with attention to every aspect related to driving pleasure and throttle response.
The base XK is quite proficient, while the XKR is just speedier. The supercharger actually reduces the fuel economy a bit too much, while the rear wheels aren't quite capable of getting the power down to the ground, so the basic XK is the best pick. A heated windshield is a great option, particularly in colder regions.

The 2011 Jaguar XKR is available in either coupe or convertible body styles. The trims for either are the XK and the XKR. The Jaguar XK has a 5.0L V-8 motor, while the XKR has a supercharged variant of the same engine. The drivetrain is a 6-speed automatic, while the power is sent to the rear wheels. The price of the base coupe is $83,000 which goes up to $96,125 for the XKR trim.

The 2011 Jaguar XK is powered by a 5.0L V-8 motor that pushes out 385 horsepower and 380 foot-pounds of torque. The sound of the engine is fierce and quite attractive. The supercharged XKR has the same displacement, but the 510 horsepower and the 461 foot-pounds of torque make it much quicker.
The more powerful engine also makes a more attractive race-car-like sound. Even the smaller engine can eat through its tires quite quickly owing to the powerful torque. With the XKR, you would be looking at replacement tires quite regularly if you push the car.

The car has a 6-speed automatic gearbox that is amongst the quickest in the price comparison. Though it does not have the refinement of the Porsche 911’s PDK gearbox, it is actually a bit faster in its shifts. The Porsche 911 Carrera S is the quickest of the bunch, while the Maserati GranTurismo is more grand-tourer than a sports car, and thus the slowest.
Fuel economy is not the forte of either the 2011 Jaguar XK nor the XKR. The chassis though is made almost entirely out of aluminum, which makes them actually quite efficient as compared to some competitors. The XK offers 16 mpg in cities, 24 mpg on highways, and 19 mpg combined. The XKR gives 15 mpg in cities, 22 mpg on highways, and 17 mpg combined.

The Jaguar XK has the smallest fuel tank of the lot, which gives it the least range. The Maserati GranTurismo is the least efficient of the lot, though it has a large 22.7-gallon fuel capacity. The Porsche 911 Carrera S gives the best efficiency of the lot with 21 mpg combined. The big fuel tank helps Maserati in offering the best range of the lot.
The 2011 Jaguar XK does have a pair of rear seats, though they are tiny and the car is largely used as a 2 seater. Front seat passengers have better space than most of the car’s competitors, making finding the best seating position quite easy during long journeys.
The XK has glossy grained wood on the dashboard and accenting the center console. The leather stitching looks perfect with a lot of details and finesse.Â

The trunk has a meager 11.7 cubic feet of space in the coupes, which gets compromised to just 8 cubic feet in the convertible. The boot is lined with expensive fabric, which should do well for your expensive leather handbag, but it does get worn with harder luggage. Jaguar offers the best cargo space in the competition. Some standout interior features include:
Every Jaguar XK comes with an inbuilt Navigation system, that even includes an interface for USB and iPod connectivity. The system includes a variety of options and menus, though it is quite unfriendly to operate and takes quite a bit of jabbing to get it to work. The system has adequate brightness and does age well. There is a 525-watt Bowers & Wilkins surround sound audio system with a 6-CD changer. The car even offers Sirius Satellite Radio. Some major infotainment features are:
The Jaguar XK is quite frankly one of the best-looking grand-tourers in the market. It has even better styling than the Aston Martin, while the Maserati GranTurismo looks almost simplistic. The design is simple yet perfectly accentuated with curves and lines all enacting an impactful profile.
From the rear, the wide taillights make it resemble a Chevrolet Camaro, though the sides are brilliant and quite tasteful. The front was refreshed for 2010 and includes larger vents.

The Jaguar XK is quite lengthier and wider than the Porsche, though it matches the dimensions of the Maserati GranTurismo. The all-aluminum frame makes it quite light, and the minimal height cuts a sleek profile. The ground clearance of the coupe is quite low and can lead to scuffing the sides if you are careless. Some standout exterior features are:
Neither the NHTSA nor the IIHS is likely to crash-test the 2011 Jaguar XK, owing to its low volume and high price-tag. The car is made with an aluminum chassis, which makes it light as well as quite resilient. The build quality is the finest, and the low ground clearance does mean the car is quite capable of controlling its power. The XK is loaded with features and tech to aid its safety, some of these are-
The 2011 Jaguar XK is an impressive offering from the British marquee. The car has been outfitted with the finest interiors and designs, as well as brilliant performance and standout acceleration. It is quite cheaper than its similarly specced competition and even offers a streamlined lineup. Overall it is one of the best picks in the segment.
