The 2011 Lexus RX 350 features a 275-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can choose between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive systems. The V6 engine powering the RX 350 delivers good acceleration and is paired with a responsive, smooth-shifting gearbox.
From the driver’s seat, the RX delivers a ride perfectly in line with Lexus's brand image. The suspension is tuned for comfort, providing a smooth and pleasant though not particularly exciting ride. At freeway speeds, wind noise is more intrusive than expected but outward visibility is better than RX’s swoopy design would imply.

The 303-horse powered Infiniti FX35 is the most powerful SUV among its rivals and takes the elevator to the top of the table. Although the Acura RDX generated less power, its low curb weight helps it to climb to the second spot in the 0-60 mph spring timing. The Cadillac SRX’s acceleration is quite slow while the RX 350 stands above it.
Usually, big engines suck more juice but that’s not the case with the Lexus RX 350. Its powerful 3.5-liter V6 employs less use of fuel hence offering good fuel economy. According to the EPA, the SUV returns 18 miles in the city, 25 miles on the highway, and 21 miles combined. Opting for the all-wheel-drive configuration reduces the highway figure by 1 mpg but the city estimates remain unchanged.

The Acura RDX gets all the fame for being the most fuel-efficient SUV in its class. Its turbocharged engine offers a combined mileage of 21 mpg while the RX 350 is right behind it. Although the fuel numbers of the Cadillac SRX are not good, it can be accepted, but the Infiniti FX35’s fuel efficiency is the worst at 16 mpg in the city, 23 on the highway, and 19 mpg combined..
The interior of the Lexus RX is appropriately luxurious with soft surfaces, cushy seats, rail wood trim, and a design that looks modern without compromising usability. Passenger space is good in all positions and is further enhanced by sliding and reclining rear seats.
Unlike many other newer crossovers, the RX doesn’t feature three-row seating, limiting capacity to five. However, the lack of a third row does pay dividends in terms of cargo space with 40 cubic feet of space available behind the second row.Â

Infiniti’s 44.7-inch front legroom is quite spacious for people with long legs but it is the opposite at the back. At 36.8 inches of rear legroom, comfort finds its way easily in the Lexus RX 350. It also dominates with a class-leading cargo capacity of 40 cubic feet while the other rivals' trunk volume is below 30 cubes. Some luxurious highlights of the RX 350’s cabin are:
One of our favorite features is the navigation system’s remote touch controller. The mouse-like device provides one of the most intuitive interfaces for controlling in-car electronics. The graphics are clear and crisp, thereby increasing the visibility of the screen.
The sound system is taken care of by 9 standard speakers but it can be upgraded to Mark Levinson's premium audio system. A rear-seat entertainment system is also available that costs around $5,000 extra. Some other features include:
For the casual glance, the third-generation Lexus RX doesn’t look radically different from the second. Closer inspection reveals more modern head and taillights, a slight increase in size, and bolder body sculpting, including a distinct shoulder line that runs from nose to tail. Otherwise, key RX styling details remain the same, including the trapezoidal grille, steeply-sloped rear glass, and a tall somewhat narrow stance.
The crossover features chrome roof rails, standard 18-inch wheels, and a rear spoiler that looks sporty but also improves aerodynamics. The small windows built in the front and rear pillars help eliminate potential blind spots.

At 113.6 inches of wheelbase, the passenger volume of the Infiniti FX35 is more than its rivals. For an SUV, a ground clearance of 6.3 inches is a bit less in the Acura RDX. The Cadillac SRX’s heavy curb weight pays a heavy toll on the performance. Acura RDX comes out to be the lightest competition on the table. Major exterior highlights of the RX 350 include-
NHTSA gave four out of five stars while IIHS regarded the 2011 Lexus RX 350 under the ‘Top Safety Pick’ category. A wealth of airbags are included as standard equipment on the RX 350. The RX’s already compelling safety story is enhanced by side airbags for the rear-seat passengers and knee airbags for those upfront, that sums up to 10 airbags which is class-leading. Some of the other safety features include:
If you want a stylish and luxurious vehicle with the roominess and step-in height of an SUV, then you may definitely like the RX 350. However, you may not like the RX if you need to drive off-road as its all-wheel-drive system is designed with on-road traction in mind. In terms of pricing, the RX 350 costs less than its German competitors. Like most of the Lexus range, the RX 350 is expected to hold its value well over time, exceeding residual values for the Acura RDX but trailing values for the BMW X5.
