2011 Maserati Quattroporte Review

Pros

  • Superb exhaust note
  • Impressive Engine
  • Great Handling

Cons

  • Missing some latest tech

Maserati has always been more of an underrated automaker but never stopped making some awesome vehicles. The Quattroporte comes mildly refreshed for the 2011 model year and borrows most of the styling changes from the GT S model.

Overview

The 2011 Maserati Quattroporte for 2011 comes mostly unchanged with minor cosmetic changes to the S trim. The Quattroporte comes with 2 engine options, a 4.2 L V8 and a more powerful 4.7 L V8 in the higher trims. The Quattroporte is a naturally aspirated 4-door sedan with a sweet exhaust note and offering good performance. This Maserati primarily competes with the 2011 Porsche Panamera Turbo and the 2011 Aston Martin Rapide.

Pricing and Features

Next is the $126,750 worth S trim which comes with a more powerful 4.7 L V8 outputting 425 hp and 361 lb-ft. The top-end GT S trim starts at $134,700 and comes with the same 4.7 L engine but produces more power outputting 433 hp and 361 lb-ft.

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

We know that fuel efficiency is not the turf of a pure performance car like the Quattroporte. This Maserati gets a 23.8-gallon fuel capacity, outputting a range of 286 miles in the city, 452 miles on the highway, and a combined range of 333 miles. The efficiency figures are on the lower side compared with other performance-oriented vehicles in the segment.

Interior
8.0/10

The interior of the Quattroporte features super-luxurious features and elements in the seats, dash, and the whole cabin. There is ample amounts of space on the inside, and the seats offer superb comfort and support.

There are also plenty of options to customize the interior, including leather and wood trim options. The interior does offer seating for five, but four people would be comfortable and seated without being cramped.

How intuitive is the 2011 Maserati Quattroporte’s infotainment unit?

The 2011 Quattroporte features a Bose surround sound system as standard. It is equipped with Bluetooth, Aux, and USB Connectivity along with a satellite radio.

The audio system sounds great as expected. A variety of other tech comes standard such as Bluetooth, Satellite radio, and more. Few key features include-

  • Bose Surround Sound System
  • 3.5 mm auxiliary input socket
  • Satellite Radio
  • iPod interface
  • Bluetooth Connectivity

Exterior
9.0/10

The Quattroporte Sedan looks weird and kind of bizarre from the front due to its distinct styling. The front end features a huge grill and similarly large headlamps, while the rear end looks similar to a Rolls or a Bentley.

The side profile does look attractive towards the front portion but the rear end doesn’t seem to match with the side profile of the car entirely. The Quattroporte Sedan weighs 4,375 lbs, which is on the higher side of the spectrum.

8.0/10

The 2011 Maserati Quattroporte comes equipped with many standard safety features, including 4-wheel ABS, Stability control, traction control, electronic brake distribution (EBD), and engine torque control. Neither NHTSA nor IIHS has tested and rated the Quattroporte yet, so these scores are not available for comparison or evaluation. Few key safety features available with the sedan are-

  • Airbag system: dual-stage front bags, Low-Risk Deployment for the front passenger bags. 4 window airbags (front and rear) - 2 front side airbags
  • New generation front passenger airbag
  • Maserati Stability Program (MSP) - includes
  • Stability control
  • Traction control
  • Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
  • Electronic brake distribution (EBD)
  • Engine torque control
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Final Verdict

The 2011 Maserati Quattroporte is a superb performance machine delivering enough power outputs along with amazing driving dynamics and great handling. This Maserati is an expensive option compared to some of its segment rivals, but it's on the lower side compared to some others. The naturally aspirated V8 engine in the Quattroporte is powerful enough and sounds awesome. All in all, the sedan is worth a consideration in the segment.
