The 2012 Hyundai Azera, especially if luxury features matter, there's a lot of value in the Azera. If luxury and features for the money are still the priority, the 2012 Hyundai Azera still ranks as one of the top large-sedan picks. It's also among the most powerful and most fuel-efficient. Powering the 2012 Hyundai Azera is a 3.3-liter V6 that produces 293 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic is the only transmission offered and sends power to the front wheels.
The 2012 Hyundai Azera’s V6 engine delivers strong acceleration, and the gear changes from the six-speed automatic transmission are quite smooth. The sedan touches the 60 mph mark in 6.7 seconds and completes the quarter-mile in 15 seconds.

The Azera accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds, which is a bit quicker than average for a large sedan. The V-6 has a dual personality of sorts. It's a high-revver with a higher specific output than other engines in this class and makes its peak power at 6,400 rpm, just short of redline, but it also feels considerably more torquey at lower rpm compared to Hyundai's past V-6 efforts. When comparing the top speed, both BMW 328i and Lexus ES 350 stand ahead of Hyundai with figures of 155 and 149 mph, respectively.
The 2012 Azera has a revised, direct-injection version of Hyundai's 3.3-liter V-6, fitted to a six-speed automatic transmission, and thanks also to the Azera's improved aerodynamics this year, it achieves EPA ratings of 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, for a combined figure of 23 mpg are good for an affordable large car. The sedan has no requirement for premium fuel.

As in Hyundai's other models, there's an Active Eco function that smooths out the throttle and transmission when cruising or accelerating lightly, allowing shifts to happen a little earlier and resulting in up to a seven-percent improvement in real-world fuel economy. With an 18.5 gallons fuel tank, the Azera can cruise for about 370 miles in the cities to an average of 518 miles on highways.
The interior of the Azera is constructed to offer fluid luxury to the people sitting inside with more than enough space to sit comfortably. There’s so much backseat space that there’s enough legroom for full-sized adults.
Backseat passengers have access to in-door storage bins with bottle holders, as well as cupholders and another storage bin in the fold-down center armrest. A power-operated shade on the rear window, along with manual sunshades on the two rear side windows, helped keep the car’s black interior at a manageable temperature even when parked in the sun. The sedan comes with a cargo capacity of 16.3 cubic feet.

The large, panoramic moonroof included in the Technology Package was great for keeping the Azera’s interior from feeling too cavelike. To keep the shade open, you have to stop it after the roof closes. A rearview camera, leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated front & rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a cooled glovebox are standard. The multi-adjustable driver seat is controlled by Mercedes-inspired buttons that are visible and easily accessible on the door panel, rather than tucked out of view on the side of the seat bottom. Major interior features include-
The 2012 Azera’s standard features include a navigation system, BlueLink telematics, and a 10-speaker sound system with a CD player, an iPod/USB audio interface, and HD radio. Available features include an Infinity Logic 7 12-speaker sound system with HD radio. The 7-inch screen touchscreen actuated system features navigation and turn-by-turn directions using simple 2D maps. Traffic is provided by a standard SiriusXM connection, as are weather and stock quotes. Major infotainment features include-
The 2012 Hyundai Azera has a cohesive, dynamic design and a deeper level of detail than most other large sedans. Like many of Hyundai's recent models, designers looked to build on the 'fluidic sculpture' theme, but there's been a lot of attention paid to the details, with nicely sculpted LED taillamps, side mirrors with built-in turn-signal indicators, and HID xenon headlamps.
Add the Technology Package, and you add HID headlamps, larger 19-inch wheels, a big panoramic sunroof, and a power rear sunshade.

The Azera has two distinctive side creases in the sheet metal, which don't quite meet but together form a strong expression. In the Azera, one of them starts just behind the headlamps, flowing along the top of the fender and upward to the back of the front door, while the other one starts just ahead of the rear door handle, flowing upward, then across and forming the actual deck lid crease around the back. Major exterior highlights of the sedan include-
The 2012 Azera completely impressed us with top 'Good' scores in all the subcategories of frontal and side-impact testing. Withstanding 4.76 times of its weight, the Azera also earned a 'Good' rating in the roof strength test. The Azera has nine standard airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag, two front airbags, side-impact torso airbags for the front and rear, and side curtain airbags for front and rear outboard occupants. The Azera also comes equipped with Hyundai’s Blue Link system, which offers emergency roadside assistance, theft recovery, remote vehicle access, navigation assistance, and traffic information. Few salient safety features include-
With a powerful and fuel-efficient direct-injection V6 engine, smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission, and a beautiful interior, the Azera is nothing short of a well-executed sedan. The 2012 Azera is blessed with a confident enough brake pedal, however, and a ride that's soft enough to be comfortable without straying too far into marshmallow territory. All in all, the sedan from the shores of South Korea is a capable and reliable option in the segment.
