Overall Rating
The 2012 Infiniti G 25 sedan is a luxury car that promises a lot of driver engagement and excellent styling.
The 2012 Infiniti G 25 sedan is a luxury car that promises a lot of driver engagement and excellent styling. It is powered by a 2.5 L engine that produces 218 hp and 187 pound-feet of torque. Customers get to choose between three trim levels while a seven-speed automatic is standard.
The base trim of the Infiniti G25 itself comes very much loaded with a lot of tech features and hence there is no wrong trim to pick in between the line-up. One more problem is that several of its German rivals offer many interiors at almost the same price point as the higher trim levels and since this is the luxury segment, that is hard to ignore. However, at the price point, it offers, there is no sense to pick a higher trim if you do not see specific advantages.

There is only one engine option available in the Infiniti G 25 sedan and that is a 2.5 L in-line four-cylinder engine.
This engine produces 218 hp and 187 pound-feet of torque while a seven-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control is standard along with a rear-wheel-drive system. It is a car that brakes and turns very well and proves to be a very athletic luxury car.

One can see from the spec sheets that the Infiniti offers a very competent powertrain when it is compared to its competitors. The Mercedes-Benz feels a bit underpowered and performs slowly in terms of acceleration as well.
Probably the only thing the Audi has working for it is that it has a very capable all-wheel-drive system while its competitors only have a rear-wheel-drive and are the only car to be offered with the manual transmission. We feel that the Infiniti and the BMW are the most engaging cars to drive out of the lot.
One can see why Infiniti has shifted towards smaller, turbocharged engines when you look at the efficiency figures. While the previous generation V6 engines have been very powerful, they have returned very low fuel efficiency. We have the Infiniti G 25 with a combined figure of 23 MPG, which translates to 20 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. Due to this efficiency which can only be considered good, it makes do with a relatively large fuel tank capacity of 20 gallons.

In comparison, the BMW and Mercedes Benz are pretty evenly matched in terms of range even though the BMW has better fuel efficiency. It is surprising that the BMW's extra performance does not pay even a small penalty in the department of fuel efficiency and in fact, it is much more fuel-efficient than anything in comparison. The Infiniti is the least fuel-efficient but it is not too bad. The same goes for the Audi.
The cabin of the Infiniti offers a unique experience with excellent build quality with understated design along with the use of top-quality materials. However, it does not quite match up to the standards set by its rivals.
The design is pretty attractive, and ergonomics are also excellent throughout. One can definitely feel the spirit of Japanese luxury inside the car. The seats are comfortable even if you don’t opt for the sport seats and offer enough support for spirited driving.

The 2012 Infiniti G 25 sedan is a very compelling buy in the compact luxury sedan segment. However, it falls short of its rivals when it comes to convenience features and interior design. It is nonetheless a very well-performing car and a true driver’s delight. It also offers excellent design and top-notch build quality as well as interiors. Hence this is a car we would recommend.
