The side profile looks quite SUV-ish with sculpted out wheel arches that are filled up pretty decently with the big 18-inch wheels. The rear-end looks more like an uplifted sedan but in a good way with smart-designed headlamps.

The Dodge Durango is the beefiest and the heaviest SUV on the list owing to its platform and muscle car siblings’ relation. All the SUVs come with similar ground clearance except for the Hyundai Santa Fe and it is the shortest in terms of height too among the rivals.

Safety is almost every Japanese vehicle’s forte and the Mazda CX-9 isn’t an exception. The SUV comes with an excellent safety rating of “Good” from the IIHS but the NHTSA didn’t crash-test the vehicle yet so the ratings from them are not available.
