About 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer

3.8

Overall Rating

In the world of midsize sedans, the Mitsubishi Lancer is likely the most honored sedans in the market for its legacy in the World rally championship and its appearance in various fast and furious films.

In the world of midsize sedans, the Mitsubishi Lancer is likely the most honored sedans in the market for its legacy in the World rally championship and its appearance in various fast and furious films. Paul Walker drove the Lancer Evolution 7 in 2 fast 2 furious films, it is the high-performance full-blown version of the lancer. For starters, the Mitsubishi Lancer has a cheerful, and impressive demeanor.

We recommend the mid-trim for its wide variety of optional features and a tweaked engine that produces 20 additional ponies when compared to the base version and it doesn’t get too expensive and it is priced at $19,845. But if you are looking for a car with sporty behavior and more power, then opting for the Ralliart edition is the perfect choice as it produces a whopping 237 hp from a forced induction 2 liter inline 4 engine.

We Recommend:

But if you are looking for a car with sporty behavior and more power, then opting for the Ralliart edition is the perfect choice as it produces a whopping 237 hp from a forced induction 2 liter inline 4 engine.

Engine and Performance
7.1/10

This is where the Lancer evolution comes into its own. It has one of the most powerful engines in its segment and guesses what is the cheapest of the lot. It is such a value-for-money car. It makes enough power to make Lancer a strong competitor in the midsize sedan market. It makes use of a 2 liter inline 4 engine that produces 152 brake horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. Adding to the driving appeal is the standard 5-speed manual gearbox which sends all the power to the front wheel and All-wheel-drive in upper trim levels.

The All-wheel-drive works brilliantly in any sort of terrain and in any weather and it is such a balanced car. All this overall feeling of balance is via an excellent suspension setup. In the Acceleration test, the Lancer is the fastest to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds and clocks a quarter-mile time of 16.4 seconds which is also the fastest in the segment. While the top speed figure is unknown.

In comparison, all three cars make use of an inline-4 engine and produce nearly the same power output. The Honda Civic makes use of an automatic transmission, while the Lancer uses a similar transmission setup as the Nissan Sentra. In the acceleration test, the Honda Civic clocks 8.9 seconds to the 60 mph mark, while the Hyundai Sonata requires 9.6 seconds to achieve a similar feat. The Honda Civic clocks a quarter-mile run in 16.8 which is just 0.4 milliseconds slower than the Mitsubishi Lancer.

Fuel Economy
7.7/10

Despite being the powerful engine in the competition, the lancer offers an ideal fuel economy and there is no complaining about the fuel economy as it consumes a decent amount of fuel. It averages a mileage of 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. Combined, it is capable of averaging 28 miles per gallon of fuel. However, its fuel tank of 15.6 gallons finds a place on the top of the table. The Nissan Xterra is capable of traversing a total distance of 390 miles in the city and 530 miles on the highways.

In comparison, both Mitsubishi Lancer and Nissan Sentra manage to deliver almost similar fuel economy. When combined, the Honda Civic delivers the highest fuel economy of 32 miles to the gallon. While the Camaro offers the least fuel economy of 27 miles per gallon. When it comes to fuel tank capacity, the Honda Civic has the smallest fuel tank which allows it to travel a distance of 369 miles in the city and 514.8 miles on the highway.

Interior
6.7/10

The Interior of the Mitsubishi Lancer is tastefully designed and perfectly curated but there are some cheap plastic bits here and there. The styling of the steering wheel is absolutely spectacular and sporty. The materials used for seats are premium and works well in tandem with the sporty cabin. It also gets some comfort features such as the Driver and passenger cabin of the car.

The Mitsubishi Lancer offers a very attractive package in terms of interior design and detailing of the interiors and has a seating capacity of five passengers. It has a modest front-row headroom space of 39.6 inches while the shoulder room is a bit cramped when compared to its competitors. It has the smallest cargo capacity with a total volume of 12.3 cubic feet which is the lowest in the segment.

In comparison, both Mitsubishi Lancer and Honda Civic have similar front row space and second-row space with very minute differences. The cargo capacity on offer is the highest in the Nissan Sentra measuring 13.1 cubic feet. While the Honda Civic offers a cargo capacity of 12.5 cubic feet. As a result, the Sentra wins the competition when it comes to cargo capacity. Some of the interior features include.

  • Sports steering wheel
  • Premium cloth upholstery
  • Front center armrest
  • Leather shift knob
  • Driver and passenger heated-seat backs

How intuitive is Mitsubishi Lancer’s infotainment system?

The infotainment system on the Mitsubishi Lancer features a 1st-row display screen as an option, which is controlled by touch and sits perfectly on the central console, and works well. As standard, it comes equipped with modern features like Steering-wheel mounted audio controls, Voice-activated radio, and wireless phone connectivity.
