Overall Rating
The Cadillac Escalade has always been a head-turner out on the streets for its unconventional styling and massive road presence.
The Cadillac Escalade has always been a head-turner out on the streets for its unconventional styling and massive road presence. It is also a premium full-size luxury SUV that locks its horns with some of the heavy-weight players in the market such as the Lincoln Navigator and the Nissan Armada.
We would suggest you the Base trim since it is already quite feature-packed but the Luxury trim makes more sense.

The Cadillac Escalade is offered in a total of four trim levels starting from the Base. The powertrain option is standard with the 6.2liter V8 while the drivetrain can be had either in an RWD or an AWD layout. The Base trim is priced at $63,745 and offers some excellent features such as an adaptive and auto-leveling suspension system, power liftgate, and a locking rear differential. The Luxury trim adds a Magnetically controlled adaptive suspension, Power flip-and-fold second-row seats, Heated steering wheel, and automatic high beams. The Premium trim doesn’t add much to the feature list while the Platinum trim again adds a few upgrades such as a unique front grille and wheel design and cooled cupholders.

We Recommend
We would suggest you the Base trim since it is already quite feature-packed but the Luxury trim makes more sense.
The Cadillac Escalade is powered by a monstrous 6.2liter Vortec 6200 V8 motor and offers a flex-fuel capability. The motor churns out a maximum of 403 horsepower and 417lb-ft of torque. The motor behaves like a proper American V8 and has a throaty engine note but the exhaust note is a bit muffled owing to the luxury status of the SUV. The motor has more than adequate power on tap at all times and makes city driving as well as highway cruising a breeze.
The motor is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox that keeps the engine relaxed and is able to find the correct gear at all times as well. The SUV handles quite well too but its spongy brakes don’t induce much confidence under harsh braking conditions. The ride quality is superb with the adaptive air suspension setup and the magnetically controlled adaptive suspension on the Platinum trim.

The Lincoln Navigator has a smaller engine and way lower power and performance figures as compared to the Escalade. The Toyota Sequoia comes within the vicinity of the Escalade with comparable power and torque figures that are quite impressive for a Japanese SUV.
Huge SUVs with beefy powertrains were never really easy on the pocket when it comes to fuel bills and the Cadillac Escalade is just another example. The SUV has a city mileage of 14mpg only while the highway mileage is rated at 18mpg. The combined mileage is set at 16mpg.

The Lincoln Navigator has an even more disappointing fuel economy considering the size of its powertrain and power figures. The Toyota Sequoia has the least city mileage among the three on the list and has identical highway mileage to the Escalade.
The interior of the Cadillac Escalade is where the SUV really shines. The cabin is enormous and is laid out with tasteful faux-wood and leather trims with an abundance of soft-touch materials throughout the cabin. All the gauges and controls are placed very ergonomically and are well within the reach of the driver while driving. The front seats come with multiple electric adjustments and allow for a comfortable seating and driving position at all times.
The rear seats are supremely comfortable too with power reclining functions. Headroom and legroom are adequate for both the front and rear passengers alike. The cargo space is extremely generous at 60.3 cubic feet with the third seats removed and can be further increased to a mammoth 108.9 cubic feet by folding the 2nd-row seats.

The Lincoln Navigator has a slightly smaller cabin as opposed to the Escalade but has an equally spacious cargo area. The Toyota Sequoia falls short in front of both the Navigator and the Escalade in terms of headroom and legroom, featuring an impractical third-row seat.
The Cadillac Escalade has an excellent and well-equipped infotainment system to ensure a complete entertainment for all the occupants inside the vehicle.
The infotainment system features of the SUV include Bluetooth, OnStar, a navigation system, a touchscreen interface and a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system with a CD player, satellite radio, an auxiliary audio jack, an iPod/USB audio interface and rear audio controls. The Luxury trim of the SUV further adds a rear-seat entertainment system with a single display.
Some of the infotainment system features of the SUV are:
The Cadillac Escalade wears a flashy and unconventional exterior styling, making you noticed wherever you arrive in your Escalade. The front end looks unique with a wide front grille with a heavy dose of chrome details while it retains the bold and rugged appeal of other GM vehicles such as the GMC Yukon.
The vertically stacked headlights look spectacular and uncommon and the same treatment has been given to the tail lights as well. The SUV also features an impressive ground clearance of 8.0inches, allowing it to scale some rough terrains too in its 4x4 guise.

The Lincoln Navigator looks understated in front of the Escalade but has some flashy design bits too with extensive chrome details on the outside. The Toyota Sequoia has a more straight-forward appeal with a mild rigged touch to the exterior design and lacks the flashy design elements of both the Navigator and the Escalade.
The 2013 Cadillac Escalade comes with a decent safety rating of 4-star out of 5 from the NHTSA. The IIHS have not tested the vehicle yet. The standard safety features of the SUV are stability and traction control, antilock disc brakes, front side-impact airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera and OnStar emergency telematics.
Highlighted safety features of the Escalade are:
The Escalade has always been a status symbol for the rich folks out there with its extremely luxurious interior and flashy exterior design. The SUV comes with a strong performance, abundance of practicality with a huge cargo area, creature comfort features for both front and rear passengers, and a solid set of safety features as well.
