About 2013 Chrysler 300

3.9

Overall Rating

The Chrysler maintains similar designing elements from its predecessor, but something that is new for the 2013 iteration, is a standardized 8-speed-automatic transmission which works exceedingly well.

When buying a full-size sedan, there are some features that you expect in a car. The Chrysler 300 is an embodiment of all those features and more. The 300 is utilitarian and practical. It boasts of a dynamic and commanding engine that renders untarnished performance. The Chrysler gloats its ascendancy among other cars in the segment with its luxuriant interiors and adaptable infotainment system. The Chrysler maintains similar designing elements from its predecessor, but something that is new for the 2013 iteration, is a standardized 8-speed-automatic transmission which works exceedingly well. In its segment, the Chrysler competes head-on with the likes of the Dodge Charger, the Nissan Maxima, and the Buick LaCrosse.

We recommend buying the base-variant of the Chrysler 300 as it comes loaded with price appropriate and its V6 engine feels potent and punchy. Standard features include Bluetooth connectivity, an 8.2-inch touchscreen, push-button start, and alloy wheels which make the car an entire package.

Pricing and Features
6.0/10

There is a perfect Chrysler for every buyer and that is evident by the seven different trims that are on offer, each of which are distinguished from another by the number of features that the trim packs. The price of the sedan starts from $30,345 for the base trim and goes up to $48,450 for the high-end SRT8 trim.

We Recommend

We recommend buying the base-variant of the Chrysler 300 as it comes loaded with price appropriate and its V6 engine feels potent and punchy. Standard features include Bluetooth connectivity, an 8.2-inch touchscreen, push-button start, and alloy wheels which make the car an entire package.

Engine and Performance
7.6/10

The engine on duty in the Chrysler 300 is a 3.6L V6 engine that churns out 292hp of power and 260lb.-ft of torque. The car comes mated to an 8-speed-automatic transmission and is channeled as an all-wheel-drive variant.

The Chrysler is also offered with another engine option, a 6.4L V8, that produces 470 hp and 470lb.-ft of torque and is available with only the SRT8 and SRT8 Core trims. The V6 engine races the car from a still to 60 MPH in 6.9 seconds and records a top speed of 140 MPH. While the quarter-mile timings for the Chrysler are not known, its potent engine will record competitive timings.

In the segment, the Dodge Charger uses the same engine setup as the Chrysler 300, however, its performance figures are not known. The Buick LaCrosse is the most powerful engine in the segment, producing 303hp and 264 lb.-ft of torque. Despite a slightly less powerful engine, the Nissan Maxima manages best-in-class timings in the acceleration and quarter-mile test at 5.8 seconds and 14.3 seconds, respectively.

Fuel Economy
6.0/10

For cars that fall in a segment that caters to the needs of buyers by providing an offering that is the amalgamation of luxury and sport, fuel efficiency is not the strongest suit that garners attention. The Chrysler 300 manages a mileage of 18 MPG while sweeping through the daily traffic and 27 MPG when sprinting on the highway. Combined, it manages 21 miles per gallon of fuel. The 300 features a fuel tank that has a total capacity of 19.1 gallons and can cover a distance of 343.8 and 515.7 miles in the city and on the highway, respectively.

In comparison, the Nissan Maxima is the most fuel-efficient car on offer. It has a combined efficiency of 22 MPG and covers a maximum distance of 380 and 520 miles in the city and on the highway, respectively in a single fuel refill. The Buick LaCrosse lurks at the bottom of the table with a combined mileage of 20 MPG.
