Overall Rating
Lincoln has been struggling to form an identity of its own within the Ford network, but with the introduction of the new 2013 Lincoln MKS, it seems stronger than ever.
Lincoln has been struggling to form an identity of its own within the Ford network, but with the introduction of the new 2013 Lincoln MKS, it seems stronger than ever. Since the end of the Mercury brand in 2011, Lincoln has been the only luxury nameplate under Ford. This message is reinforced by the new MKS.
The standard Lincoln MKS offers plentiful performance and features. That said, we recommend the 3.5L turbocharged EcoBoost due to its exceptional performance. We also recommend the Premium package as it offers a whole host of features that most customers would look for at this price point.

Lincoln offers two powerful engine options for the 2013 MKS; the 3.7L naturally aspirated V6 and the 3.5L turbocharged EcoBoost V6. All trims of the MKS are offered with a six-speed automatic gearbox that comes with paddle shifters.
The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 takes the Lincoln to 60mph in 5.2 seconds and completes the quarter-mile in less than 14 seconds. These are excellent performance figures for a car of this size and weight. The Lincoln exceeds most competition at this price point in terms of sheer power. The 2013 Lexus GS, while being significantly lighter, cannot compare with the performance figures of the Lincoln MKS. The Audi A6 3.0T is the best competition at this price range in terms of performance.
The 2013 Lincoln MKS offers mediocre fuel economy, which is true for the most part of this segment. The Lincoln can do 17mpg in the city and 25mpg on highways, combining for an acceptable 20mpg. That said, only hybrids in this segment can significantly outdo these figures.

The Audi A6 and the Lexus GS 350 exceed the fuel economy of the Lincoln, but by such small margins that it becomes negligible in real-world driving conditions. The Audi, however, offers a larger fuel tank which, coupled with the improved fuel economy, gives it a significant increase in range.
The 2013 Lincoln MKS offers a segment-leading level of space in the cabin and a plethora of features that come as standard. Lincoln says they have revamped the awkward to use the MyLincoln Touch infotainment system. The system, a reworked version of the MyFord Touch, is still finicky and cumbersome.Â
The MKS also shares a number of parts in the interior with the Ford Taurus, which puts a serious dent in the premium feel of the car. The many features such as satellite radio, heated seats, hands-free communication system, and wireless cell phone linkage are some redeeming features that could shadow over the less-than-premium feel of the interior. The MKS also offers a very roomy boot that increases the practicality of the car.Â

The Lincoln MKS has a much more spacious cabin than most competitors but does not display the same premium feel. The competitors offer a much nicer experience in the cabin and also more user-friendly infotainment systems. The Lincoln MKS also offers interior features such as -
The 2013 Lincoln MKS features the MyLincoln Touch infotainment system carried over from the 2012 model year. The capacitive touch buttons are still very poor and suffer from delayed responses. The system is feature-rich, however, and comes with-
The 2013 Lincoln MKS has undergone a slight transformation from the 2012 model year. The front end has been redesigned with a new, sleeker grille and more distinctive headlamps.
The general design language remains unchanged from the previous version but slight changes overall give it a fresher feel.

The Lincoln MKS’s large size can be seen in this comparison. The MKS is much longer than the Audi but has a smaller wheelbase. The MKS is also much heavier than the competition exceeding even the 2013 Cadillac XTS.
Ground clearance of the 2013 Lincoln MKS is at par with the segment with only the 2013 Lexus GS offering a noticeable increase in ground clearance. The 2013 Lincoln MKS also offers exterior features such as -
The new Lincoln MKS offers excellent safety certifications and features. The IIHS has rated the MKS as a Top Safety Pick. The NHTSA has rated the MKS at five stars out of five for crash safety. The MKS comes standard with Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Rollover Protection System, and Brake assist. Additional safety features include -
The 2013 Lincoln MKS offers a swathe of features and a very spacious cabin even in relation to its direct competition. The MKS also offers very powerful engine options and displays excellent performance. That said, the interior could have been spruced up to compete better with the competition.
The MKS offers a very interesting option in the large luxury sedan segment at this price point. We recommend the 2013 MKS EcoBoost in this segment as it competes very well with other options from Japan, Germany as well as America and exceeds them at this price point.
