Overall Rating
The all-new 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class follows the previous 2012 model closely. The entry-level Mercedes-Benz has been improved marginally but remains largely unchanged.
The all-new 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class follows the previous 2012 model closely. The entry-level Mercedes-Benz has been improved marginally but remains largely unchanged. Mercedes-Benz hopes that the C-Class, like its predecessors, will attract customers looking for that perfect blend of competitive pricing and excellent build quality.
The standard C250 offers good performance and fuel efficiency at this price point. The C300, however, is our pick due to its smooth, powerful V6 and All-Wheel Drive system.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is offered in three trim levels. There are also two sub-trims of Sport and Luxury available with the C250 and C300. The Sports sub trim comes with the addition of 18-inch wheels, stylish red seat belts, and red accents in the stitchings found in the interior. The C-Class is available in two engine configurations; the 1.8L turbocharged I4 and the 3.5L naturally aspirated V6. All trim levels come standard with a seven-speed automatic transmission.

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class comes with two engine options, the 1.8L turbocharged I4, and the 3.5L V6. Both gasoline options perform well, with the I4 being much more efficient but lacking the oomph that one might expect from the C-Class.
The C300 4Matic accelerates from 0 to 60mph in about 6.2 seconds and crosses the quarter-mile in about 14.8 seconds. These figures are competitive in this segment, even considering the limited power output of the 3.5L V6. The engine produces 248hp and 251 lb-ft of torque, which makes it a far sight less powerful than the C350.

The performance figures indicate that the C-Class is adequate in this segment in terms of power. That said, the C-Class doesn’t come close to exceeding the competition and is outpaced even by the I4 of the BMW 328i.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers reasonable fuel economy at this price point. If fuel economy is the priority, it is best to stick to the C250 and its I4. The 3.5L V6 does 19mpg in cities and 26mpg on highways, which makes it reasonably competitive. That said, the C250 does offer marginally better fuel economy.

The BMW 328i xDrive outshines most competitors in this segment comfortably in terms of fuel economy. That said, the C-Class does reasonably well when pitted against its main competition.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has a limited amount of cabin space and this can be felt especially in the rear row. The interior is nicely put together with the signature understated luxury feel of Mercedes-Benz shining through. The color screen in the center console serves as the brain of the whole infotainment system.
The system is easy to use, well laid out, and very responsive to input. The C-Class comes standard with an M-B Tex imitation leather upholstery, which can be upgraded to leather upholstery. The seats are comfortable, supportive, and, of course, power-adjustable.

The C-Class is more cramped than most of its competition with the BMW 3-Series excelling in this department. The C-Class is especially poor with rear-legroom but this is fairly common in the small-sedan segment. Boot space is adequate to compete with most competition but the 3-Series again exceeds and delivers a much larger boot. This makes the 2013 BMW 3-Series a more practical option. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class also offers interior features such as -
The standard C-Class infotainment system performs very well and is intuitively laid out making navigation through the system easy. The optional COMAND hard-disk-based navigation and infotainment system significantly improve the standard system. The standard, as well as the COMMAND systems, are both operated by the intuitively designed control dial in the center console. The infotainment system of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is loaded with features such as
The 2013 Mercedes Benz C-Class remains almost untouched front the previous iteration which followed the design language of the W204 generation. The generation received a slight facelift in the 2012 model with a redesigned front end and new front and rear lights. The 2013 model follows the styling cues set by the 2012 model and not many changes have been made.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is at par with most competitors in the small luxury car segment in terms of size. The C-Class, however, is notably heavier than the competition we chose here. While this certainly has an impact on handling and performance, it is largely unnoticed in day-to-day usage. The Luxury sub trim of the C-Class offers excellent ground clearance and leads the competition in this category. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class also offers exterior features such as -
The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class performs very well in terms of safety. The IIHS has rated the C-Class as a Top Safety Pick. The NHTSA has granted the C-Class five stars out of five in crash safety. Apart from this, the C-Class offers a plethora of optional safety equipment that really improves the driving experience. Additional safety features include -
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers a premium driving experience at a reasonable price point. That said, other manufacturers are catching up and often exceeding the C-Class in terms of performance, features, and practicality. The C-Class is built very well inside and out but that alone is not enough to compete in this segment in 2013. All things considered, we recommend the 2013 BMW 328i xDrive AWD due to its enticing blend of comfort, performance, and practicality.
