Overall Rating
The S7 is the Audi A7’s more performance-oriented brother. It sits between the A7 and RS7. Frankly speaking, what the A7 offers is more than enough, but if you’re a speed freak, then this car is for you.
The S7 is the Audi A7’s more performance-oriented brother. It sits between the A7 and RS7. Frankly speaking, what the A7 offers is more than enough, but if you’re a speed freak, then this car is for you. Bear in mind that the upgraded performance has come at no sacrifice with the interior, and it remains super luxurious. The car never leaves you wanting for something more.
We recommend the Audi S7 as it is. It offers great performance, and you can ride it in style while enjoying extreme comfort. The car is a statement and a bold one. The most important aspect of the car is that a lot of optional features on the A7 come as standard in the S7. This car is worth every penny and dollar.

There is only 1 trim on offer, and it’s called the “Quattro 4-door sedan”. As you might guess, there is only one engine option, which is a 4.0L V8. The car is priced at $80,200. As standard, you get features such as 19-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, an adaptive air suspension, a sport differential, a sunroof, a power hatchback, keyless ignition/entry, heated and auto-dimming mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, and a blind-spot warning system. Individual option highlights include 20-inch wheels, LED headlights, power-closing doors, a faux-suede headliner, and rear side airbags.

The S7 comes with a single engine option. This engine is a 4.0 L V8, which makes 420 hp @5,500 rpm and 406 lb.-ft @1,400 rpm. You get a 7-speed automated manual transmission mated to this engine.
The Audi S7 comes with AWD as standard. The combination of this gearbox and this engine works better than what is offered on the Audi A7. The sedan acts well for the short family drives around the city and also to the countryside.

The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe tops the 0-60 mph with a time of just under 3 seconds while the rivals stay back by just time differences of 0.3/0.4 seconds. The S7 though takes a sweet 4.5 seconds to reach the mark, with the quarter-mile coming up in about 12.4 seconds, the quickest. It has the highest top speed number at 155 mph and shares it with the BMW. In such a close battle, aerodynamics and handling play an important role and weight decides the winner.
Although fuel economy is not of much importance while buying cars with such big engines, we were surprised with what the S7 managed to do. At 17 mpg in the city, 27 on the highway, and 20 mpg combined, it has earned our respect in terms of how fuel-efficient the car is. The figures are very competitive for the segment it comes in.

As you can see, all 3 cars have similar figures, the Benz being slightly better. The Benz in the competition has the largest fuel tank, which gives it the highest city and highway range at 379.8 miles and 569.7 miles, respectively. The S7 is the balance between the two cars even though it states good efficiency figures at 17 in the city and 27 on the highway. Even though BMW and Audi have the same combined mileage, BMW stands behind due to its lesser offering when it comes to highways.
The S7 interior is a top-notch luxury. Premium is written all over every element used in the car. You get stitched leather upholstery with wooden accents. The dash is one of the most beautiful to look at and is very easy to use. You get a clock and a compass which is something you least expect in such cars (not talking about the Rolls-Royce though).
Comfortable seats encompass you in, seating you in one of the most indulging cars ever. The floor mat is carpet material, and you have a leather-wrapped steering wheel and the shift knob is leather-wrapped too. You are surrounded by features all around and are very practical and useful. Overall, it is a very plush interior to be in.

Only the BMW can accommodate 5 people, whereas the rivals only seat two people. The legroom offered is pretty decent in all the cars. In terms of cargo capacity, the S7 really impressed us with its 24.5 cubic ft trunk space, followed by BMW and Benz with 16.2 and 15.3 cu-ft, respectively. However, the rear seats on the S7 are not very comfortable because of the trailing roofline. Major interior features include-
The infotainment system on the S7 is extremely good and offers a lot of features. Navigation system, Bluetooth, Audi Connect (enhanced Web-based navigation, information, and Wi-Fi access), and a 14-speaker Bose audio system with a CD/DVD player, HD radio, and iPod connectivity are present as standard. Although to get the best out of this infotainment system, we do recommend you get the 15-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system. You also get Wi-fi and Google Earth data. Some standout infotainment features include:
The 2014 S7 draws a lot of design cues from the A7. The exterior design and the body lines are from the A7. It has the Signature Audi headlamps. The S7 portrays a sporty, windswept profile with a long hood, deep wheel arches, and trailing roofline that tapers into the tailgate.
The aggressive look at the front is carried on to the rear by the quad exhausts. The S7 has a total length of 195.6 inches. It is 75.2 inches wide and 55.9 inches tall. The S7 has a wheelbase of 114.7 inches.

Though the differences between the dimensions and overall proportions of the cars may not seem a lot, the sizing of the S7 is well done, and it all balances well with the performance it offers. The S7 is the heaviest car on the block weighing 4,508 lbs, followed by BMW and Benz at 4,430 and 4,255 lbs, respectively. Some standout exterior features include:
Standard safety equipment on the 2014 Audi S7 includes antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and front knee airbags. Rear side airbags, front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning/keeping assist, and a blind-spot warning system are optional.
A worth mentioning feature is the Audi Pre-Sense System. It can warn the driver, tension the seatbelts, and close the windows if a potential collision is detected, while the optional Audi Pre-Sense Plus system does all the above and fully tighten the seatbelts and automatically apply the brakes full force to mitigate the severity of an imminent crash. A few safety features are listed below:
The Audi S7 is a car that is not heavy on the pockets and easy to maintain too. As we said, it sits right between the A7 and the RS7 and offers the best of both these cars. You don’t really need anything more than what the S7 offers in terms of performance for the real world. But it comes with a ton of features as standard, and that makes the car irresistible. The S7 is nimbler than the competition, and it offers the right mixture of performance, technology, and style. We surely recommend all the luxury performance car buyers out there to have a look at this car before buying anything.
