Overall Rating
Cadillac has been America’s one of the most popular car manufacturers.
Cadillac has been America’s one of the most popular car manufacturers and has given the country a long list of luxurious vehicles including some timeless classics such as the Fleetwood and the 1975 Coupe DeVille.
We would suggest you the Luxury trim with the 2.0liter turbo motor along with the AWD layout for the best experience for the price. If you wish for more performance, the 3.6liter V6 is always there to put a smile on your face.

The Cadillac ATS sedan is offered in a total of four main trim levels along with a choice of three powertrain options. The base motor is a 2.5liter four-cylinder motor followed by a 2.0liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit and a bigger 3.6-liter V-6 unit. The V6 can be had with the Luxury, Performance, and Premium trims while the Base trim only comes with the base motor along with a standard RWD layout. The Base trim is priced at $33,065 and offers some handsome features such as an active aero grille, heated mirrors, automatic headlights, an active aero grille, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, and six-way power front seats with power lumbar adjustments. The top-end Premium trim offers unique run-flat tires for all four-wheels along with a sport-tuned suspension, adaptive suspension dampers, and a limited-slip rear differential.

The base motor of the Cadillac ATS sedan is a 2.5liter LCV Ecotec I-4 unit, tuned to whip out a maximum of 202 horsepower and 191lb-ft of maximum torque. The motor is okay for daily driving scenarios such as dropping off your kids at the school, visiting the supermarket, and driving around the city. The moment you hit the highway, you’ll start to feel the underpowered nature of the motor and the acceleration is quite sluggish as well. Pushing the motor hard only results in stressing the motor without any significant increase in power output. The motor is mated to a 6-speed GM 6L45 Hydra-Matic automatic transmission unit that does its best to manage all the power from the engine efficiently and deliver it to the rear wheels but the lackluster power figures bog down the driving experience.

The BMW 328i makes use of its lower power output and delivers impressive mileage figures. The Audi A4 impresses the most with an almost similar mileage rating to the ATS despite being the most powerful one on the list.
The cabin of the Cadillac ATS sedan is a nice place to be in with high-quality materials and ample comfort features. The overall appeal is right on point but its rivals boast a better fit and finish levels. The front seats are quite comfortable for both short and long drives but the lateral support is something you might miss dearly even with the optional sport seats with power adjusted lateral support feature. The rear seats are comfortable but lack adequate headroom and legroom, making it uncomfortable for taller passengers to be there for longer durations. The trunk space is also on the lower side with a mere 10.4 cu-ft of space but can be enhanced by split-folding the rear seats in a 60/40 ratio.

The BMW 328i has excellent front seats with adequate comfort levels and oodles of headroom and a spacious back-seat as well. The Audi A4 also has a plush and comfortable cabin with comfortable seats and adequate headroom and legroom for both the front and rear passengers.
The Cadillac ATS sedan comes with Cadillac User Experience(CUE) infotainment system and incorporates a decent set of features. The system has an 8-inch touchscreen display along with OnStar, Bluetooth phone connectivity and a seven-speaker Bose sound system with satellite radio, an iPod/USB interface, and an auxiliary audio jack. The audio system can be upgraded to a 10-speaker unit along with a CD Player as well.
The infotainment features are:
Cadillac has wrapped the exterior of the ATS sedan with its Art & Science design language and it looks impressive at the most but lacks the excitement seen on previous designs of the vehicles from the brand. The sedan continues with the traditional Cadillac front grille with a slightly upswept design and it follows into the headlights as well. The front fenders are chunky and the headlights stretch all the way into them giving an artistic appeal. The side profile looks a bit on the muscular side with a boxy trunk lid and vertically stacked tail lights.

The BMW 328i comes with a more ordinary and less appealing design and styling but has an elegant touch to it. The Audi A4 has a more aggressive front grille design along with smooth flowing lines on the sheet metal, making it more suitable for the corporate crowds.
The Cadillac ATS sedan aced the government crash tests with a top 5-star rating. Apart from that, the sedan comes with a generous list of standard safety features that include antilock disc brakes, traction control, stability control, active front head restraints, front-seat side, knee airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags. OnStar is also offered as standard and it includes automatic crash notification, on-demand roadside assistance, remote door unlocking, stolen vehicle assistance, and turn-by-turn navigation.
Safety features of the sedan are:
The 2014 Cadillac ATS sedan offers a highly attractive package for a good price in the compact luxury car segment and has quite some solid points going for it. Apart from the cramped backseats and the lackluster performance from the base engine, it has some solid features and enough comfort on offer to pose a great alternative to the mainstream German sedans.
