Chrysler is one of the “Big Three” automobile manufacturers in the US and has a small but tasteful portfolio of vehicles.
Chrysler is one of the “Big Three” automobile manufacturers in the US and has a small but tasteful portfolio of vehicles. The Cadillac 200 is an affordable mid-size sedan introduced in 2010, making it a fairly new offering in the segment.
We would recommend you the Touring trim for a better experience with a decent performance. If you wish to have a sportier version of then sedan then the Limited or the S trim would suffice you.

The Chrysler 200 sedan is offered in four trim levels along with a standard drivetrain layout and two powertrain options. The LS and the Touring trim get the base four-cylinder motor while the Limited and the S trim get the bigger V6 motor. The base LX trim is priced at an affordable $21,795 and is quite well-equipped for the price. The features include full power accessories, heated mirrors, cruise control, air-conditioning, a height-adjustable driver seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat, and a 4-speaker sound system with a CD player. Stepping up to the Touring trim sees a price tag of $22,995 and adds some features over the LS trim which are automatic headlights, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an eight-way power driver seat, and a six-speaker sound system. The Limited trim gets the V6 motor along with upgraded leather upholstery and a premium Boston Acoustics sound system. The top-end S trim gets some cosmetic and styling changes and retains the V6 motor from the Limited trim.

The 2014 Chrysler 200 sedan is powered by a 2.4-liter World I-4 motor and it can generate a maximum of 173 horsepower and 166lb-ft of torque. The motor lacks refinement and tends to get vocal quite easily, let alone pushing it out on the highways. It is merely adequate for daily driving with a minimum load and some relaxed highway driving. The motor is paired with a 6-speed Ultradrive 62TE automatic transmission that does a good job with quick shifts but the powertrain itselt limits all the driving pleasure.

The Chevrolet Malibu has the best power and torque figures on the list and has a lively performance as well. The Ford Fusion delivers just two horsepower more than the Chrysler 200 but has a better torque output than the latter.
Fuel economy is among the primary points of concern when it comes to affordable sedans with four-pot motors and the Chrysler 200 doesn’t impress here as well. The city mileage of the sedan is rated at 20mpg while the highway mileage is rated at 31mpg. The combined mileage is rated at 24mpg. The figures are way lower than the segment standards and can be a deal-breaker for a lot of buyers.

The Chevrolet Malibu has some excellent mileage figures despite being the most powerful one among the three on the list. The Ford Fusion is not as impressive as the Malibu but is better than the 200 sedan.
The cabin of the Chrysler 200 sedan makes it hold its ground to some extent. The quality of the materials used are way better than the interior materials used in some of its rivals and the cabin has an overall impressive ambience.
The front seats are comfortable but have a taller than average seating position to increase legroom but it might make taller passengers brush their heads against the headliner quite often. The rear seats are cramped as per the mid-size sedan standards and the headroom and legroom isn’t great either. The trunk space is also quite less at only 13.6 cu-ft.

The Chevrolet Malibu has a simple yet functional and spacious cabin with adequate headroom and legroom for both the front and rear passengers. The Ford Fusion also has a decently built cabin with adequate comfort levels and features.
In its basic form, the sedan comes with a basic infotainment system featuring only a CD Player and an audio jack. The optional 6.5-inch touchscreen surely brings a lot of functionality to the sedan such as a 40GB hard drive, a CD/DVD player, an auxiliary audio jack along with Bluetooth, and USB input. There is also an option to upgrade to a premium Boston Acoustics audio system that offers a more fuller listening experience.
Infotainment features of the sedan are:
The Chrysler 200 sedan comes with a detailed and proportionate design but feels quite dated in front of its rivals having a fresher design. The sophisticated and upswept front grille design looks appealing though and the darkened headlamp surrounds in the top S trim looks spectacular for a sedan of its segment.
The side profile remains a bit awkward like before but the rear end has a nice appeal owing to the graceful-looking tail lamps.

The Chevrolet Malibu has an ordinary yet fresh design with a mildly aggressive front end and a mildly muscular side profile. The Ford Fusion looks more premium than it actually is with a classy yet appealing overall design language and an aggressive front fascia.
The Chrysler 200 sedan didn’t exactly ace the government crash test with a 4-star rating from the NHTSa but gets a top “Good” rating from the IIHS. The standard safety features of the 200 sedan include traction and stability control, anti lock brakes, active head restraints, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags as well. The sedan also has a decent stopping distance of 127 feet.
Safety features of the sedan are:
With a starting price of $21,795, the 2014 Chrysler 200 sedan starts from the affordable price segment by offering a decent set of features right from its base trim. The base four-cylinder has been a disaster from the brand but the V6 motor will please you at a reasonable increase in price. Overall, the sedan is a decent offering from Chrysler and has managed to hold onto its position with its attractive interior design and a somewhat appealing exterior design.
