Overall Rating
The 2014 GMC Yukon sees no major changes for the 2014 model as we expect to see a major refresh for the next year's Yukon. Currently, it is available in two engine options, both of them providing great power delivery,
GM’s large truck-based family haulers run the gamut from basic to luxury. Filling the gap between the Chevrolet Tahoe and the Cadillac Escalade is the GMC Yukon available in different trims that can take it from the base workhorse model to the luxurious Denali. This 6-9 passenger SUV can be configured to meet just about anyone’s tastes.
The base SLE trim adds a good set of features. The Convenience package, which was optional last year, is made standard for this year. Hence, there is no lack of essential interior and infotainment features. If you want to experience utmost luxury then we recommend you to buy the Denali trim.

The Yukon may be large but it handles like a vehicle half its size. Unlike some of its competitors, the Yukon doesn’t feel like a big truck, impersonating a sophisticated SUV. The ride is smooth and the road noise is kept to a minimum. The steering is responsive and the Yukon feels secure at curves.
Compared to its rivals, this GMC SUV excels in terms of fuel economy. In its base engine, the Yukon returns 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway while the combined mileage drops by 1 mpg in four-wheel-drive form. The 6.2-liter V8 engine offers significantly less highway figure at 18 mpg while in the city, it delivers 14 mpg.

None of the rivals are close to what the Yukon offers. The second place is grabbed by the Toyota Sequoia with 15 mpg. The Ford Expedition and the Nissan Armada offer similar fuel estimates in the city and highway but the latter delivers a better driving range of 448 miles.
GM has recently made a push toward using more refined materials on its interiors and the Yukon has benefitted from this. Although it is designed to handle the abuse that a truck gets, the interior trim doesn’t look industrial or hard. The gauge clusters are easy on the eyes and the dash and center stack are unobtrusive.Â
The base models offer comfortable bench seats while higher trims feature heated leather buckets with power adjustments and the Yukon can be configured to accommodate between six and nine passengers. Although all rows offer plenty of headroom, the third is not fit for people with long legs for lengthy distances

The front and second-seat passengers will enjoy utmost comfort in the Nissan Armada as it offers better head and legroom. In the third row, the Ford Expedition stands out from its rivals with spacious legroom of 37.7 inches which in the case of the Yukon is the opposite. The Armada also excels with better cargo capacity with all the seats up. The Expedition and the Sequoia also have decent cargo space but it is low on the Yukon. Some of the standard interior features include:
An 8-inch touchscreen display performs the primary duties of the Yukon’s infotainment system. Over the years, critics have pointed that the IntelliLink infotainment system has a friendly interface but lags at times. Thankfully, the graphics are clean so there won’t be any issue operating the screen while driving.
Smartphone integration is not offered in the Yukon. The Bose sound system is handled by nine speakers on the SLE and SLT trims while the Denali trim gets 10 speakers. Some of the other features include:
The GMC Yukon looks like what a big SUV should look like. Tall and broad with an athletic stance says that this SUV can take on just about anything you need it to. The Yukon is differentiated from other GM SUVs by having its own hood, fascia, and headlamp designs. The Denali is further set apart with its chrome honeycomb grille, unique tail lamps, and accents.
The Yukon rides on 17-inch wheels and the Denali receives a set of 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. The only time you are acutely aware of the Yukon size is while parking. Barely narrow enough to fit between the lines in a standing parking space, it can be difficult to find a spot that the Yukon will fit in.

The Nissan Armada has the widest wheelbase in this segment at 123.2 inches. It mirrors its spacious interior room. At 9.9 inches of ground clearance, the Toyota Sequoia portrays it as a true off-roader. The Yukon is the shortest SUV at 202 inches but its low curb weight helps it to perform better on the road. Some of the exterior highlights include:
The safety ratings of only NHTSA are available as IIHS didn’t crash-test it. NHTSA gave an overall rating of four out of five stars for its performance in the crash tests. Safety features are very low on the new GMC Yukon. Six airbags are installed in the SUV for added protection of the passengers. Unlike its rivals, there are no additional packages available for safety features. The only safety features available are listed below:
The 2014 GMC Yukon is for those who need to haul a lot of cargo and people plus it is available in different configurations to suit their needs. If you need an SUV with a flat load floor, the Yukon may not be the one for you. Although the third-row seats can be removed, they are heavy so it’s a chore.
