After crossing some hurdles along the way, the SUV stands as a successful and affordable offering from the Korean carmaker. The vehicle offers excellent handling, a great fuel economy, and a comfortable interior along with two powertrain options. The SUV successfully retains Kia’s reputation of offering excellent value for money vehicles.
We would recommend you the EX trim with the AWD variant since it comes with a generous list of features and equipments. Now since the tilt and telescopic steering is standard, if you’re on a tight budget, you can opt for the base LX trim too with AWD.

The radio., The power.
Alot of recalls, N the motor blew up already
My car is a good car good on gas n stability however,that's all .I had made my second payment last year n the motor blew it needed the motor,transmission and starter replaced. That was alot for just having bought the car. I was not comfortable about that.

We would recommend you the EX trim with the AWD variant since it comes with a generous list of features and equipments. Now since the tilt and telescopic steering is standard, if you’re on a tight budget, you can opt for the base LX trim too with AWD.
The Kia Sportage does justice to its name with a powerful engine base engine and commendable power figures which are fantastic for an affordable SUV. The base motor is a naturally aspirated 2.4liter unit with a I-4 configuration delivering a healthy 182 horsepower and 177lb-ft of torque. Given the Sportage’s dimensions and curb weight, the basic motor offers enough punch to perform all daily activities and still have some more left on tap.
The motor doesn’t get stressed with the 6-speed automatic transmission handling everything smoothly. The Sportage’s suspension is set on the stiffer side to offer a sharp handling and you’ll enjoy going around the corners. The more powerful turbocharged 2.0liter motor cranks out an impressive 260 horsepower with quicker acceleration times which might lure you into buying the higher trims.

With the basic engine, the Sportage is the least powerful SUV among the rivals but triumphs over them in terms of handling and sportiness. The Volkswagen Tiguan takes the top spot with the highest horsepower and torque output. The Honda CR-V is a bit more powerful than the Sportage while the Mazda CX-5 is more powerful than the former duo but sits behind the Tiguan.
When equipped with the base motor, the Sportage returns good fuel economy figures. The urban mileage is rated at a decent 21mpg and the highway mileage shoots up to an impressive 28mpg. The SUV returns a combined mileage rating of 25mpg.

The Honda CR-V offers the best fuel efficiency on the list with the Tiguan taking the bottom place as the least efficient one. The Mazda CX-5 offers a commendable economy rating too but at some point, the Sportage disappoints with its sub-par fuel efficiency.
The interior of the Kia Sportage looks nice and feels premium for its price. The dials and controls are quite ergonomically placed and will make you feel relaxed rather than getting busy while driving. Apart from all the good bits, the main cons of the cabin is the substantial amount of hard plastics all around the cabin.
However, the major areas of contact such as the arm-rest are well-padded and the front seats offer a good amount of comfort too. The rear bench seat tells a different story altogether. It has a restricted legroom and the cushioning isn’t as soft as the front seats. However, the cons are overshadowed by the reclining function that proves to be quite comfortable during long trips.

The Honda CR-V has the maximum headroom at the front while all the competitors are almost close to each other in interior dimensions. The Sportage shines brilliantly with its roomy cabin and decent comfort levels.
Interior Features
The infotainment system of the Kia Sportage is quite feature loaded considering it is an entry-level SUV. It features a 7-inch touchscreen display operated by UVO software. The interface is easy to use and doesn’t lag while being used in a hurry.
The system is nothing extraordinary though and includes some basic and necessary features such as Bluetooth, Satellite radio, and a USB port.

The Kia Sportage looks quite appealing and premium given its price and it, in turn, helps the SUV to sell more in number despite being a dated SUV. The overall design is neat and clutter-free with Kia’s elegant front grille.
The headlights are stylish and the front bumper accommodates the fog lamps. The side profile is quite slim for an SUV and the wheel arches are nicely sculpted rather than bulging out like most other SUVs. The LED tail lights give a handsome appeal to the rear end too. Overall, the SUV looks quite sharp and eager to hit the roads without any questions asked.
