Four words make a transparent description of this Japanese car: stylish, sporty, fuel-efficient, and practical. It does sound like Lexus has managed to get all the 4 important aspects any car should have in one car.
Four words make a transparent description of this Japanese car: stylish, sporty, fuel-efficient, and practical. It does sound like Lexus has managed to get all the 4 important aspects any car should have in one car. So, does this mean the CT 200h is the ideal car? Well, think that of it as not exactly the ideal car, but something very close to being next to an ideal car. It is among those extremely unique cars that do things quite differently. However, the car only looks “sporty” and handles mediocre sporty. It’s actually one of the slowest hybrids that you can buy.
There’s only one trim on offer, and we do recommend getting this car with the extra packages that are on offer. We recommend you to get a combination of a couple of Packages, i.e., Display Audio + Navigation package + Luxury package, which makes it a breezy experience inside the cabin. Also, among the stand-alone options, one can opt for adaptive cruise control with a pre-collision system, front and rear parking sensors, and a back-up camera with the display built into the auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

The 2014 CT 200 comes with a single engine option, a 1.8L I-4 that makes 134 hp @5,200 rpm and 142 lb.-ft @4,000 rpm, along with a pair of electric motors/generators and a nickel-metal hydride battery pack.
This engine is coupled with a CVT. The CT 200 is available as a front-wheel-drive car only. The three Hybrids are not very appealing when it comes to the performance figures. This compact car from Lexus goes to touch 60 mph in 10.1 seconds and covers a quarter-mile in 18 seconds.

All of them take more than 10 seconds for the 0-60 mark, the Lexus doing marginally better. The same applies to the quarter-mile as well. The Acura is the slowest of them all, taking a sweet 18.5+ seconds to reach the quarter-mile mark. The Lexus is better at a top speed too, however, feedback inputs about the transmission on the Lexus hint at a possibility that it could have been made better.
The Lexus is excellent on the fuel economy front, and offers some impressive mileage numbers. For a Hybrid vehicle, one expects no compromise on the economy; and the Lexus does not falter on that stand as well. The Lexus’s numbers stand at 43 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway, and 42 mpg combined. With 11.9 gallons of fuel-tank capacity, the CT 200h covers a city range of 511 miles.

The 3 cars have high ranges. It’s the Prius that will blow away your mind with a 600+ miles range in the city. The advertisement was not a marketing gimmick after all then. With a mileage of 50+ mpg in the city and 48 mpg on the highway, the Prius is the most fuel-efficient hybrid car to buy. The Lexus is behind by 100 miles compared to the Prius, but the massive 500+ miles range that it offers is not bad as well. All in all, the 12-gallon tanks don’t bother much when you have such ranges on offer. The Acura manages to offer slightly better figures than Lexus in the segment.
The 2014 Lexus CT 200h does not get the same lavish soft leather and gleaming wood cabin found in the brand's other models. That said, the interior has a classy look, and the soft-touch materials are entirely suited for a car of this class.
When you opt for the Display Audio/Navigation package, you get the Lexus Remote Touch system, a mouselike device that controls a cursor on a large centrally located screen. Although the type of interaction is like a normal computer mouse, it is clumsy and distracting to use while driving because of the ultra-sensitivity nature of the mouse.

The front seats are well-bolstered, comfortable, and supportive. Because of the cabin's sloping roofline, there's less headroom for tall passengers and tight legroom as well. Plus, the small rear doors hamper ingress and egress. The trunk size is less as well, at 14.3 cubic feet, but better than the Acura’s 10 cubic feet trunk. Prius offers the best in class cargo capacity of 21.6 cu-ft. Major interior features include-
The infotainment system on the Lexus is rich as expected from the luxury brand. You get Bluetooth hands-free voice and audio streaming, SiriusXM satellite radio, and fully integrated iPod control as standard features. Then the optional packages add better equipment for your infotainment system. Some standout infotainment features include:
The 2014 CT 200h gets redesigned wheels, an all-new front end, LED headlamps, and a black roof for the Sports package. The CT 200 is stylish, and that is no surprise. It remains to be one of the sleeker-looking cars out on the road.
This sense of style doesn't come at the expense of versatility at all, as the CT 200 is better suited for the loading of bulky cargo than the small sedan. The trailing edge of the roof now showcases a "shark-fin" radio aerial. The car has a total length of 171.2 inches. It is 69.5 inches wide, 57.3 tall, and has a wheelbase of 102.4 inches.

Differences in dimensions and overall proportions are pretty significant. The Prius has the longest wheelbase, although by a small margin. The CT 200h, however, is a pretty small car, although it does turn out to be the widest car in this test. It is also pretty high from the ground. Major exterior highlights of the car include:
The Lexus has not been tested for crash safety by the NHTSA due to its low sales volumes. However, it does get a rating of ‘’Good’ from the IIHS. As standard, stability control, anti-lock brakes, Brake Assist, and eight standard airbags (including knee bags for both front occupants) are offered in the car. Lexus' Safety Connect Telematics system is another standard feature, and it performs functions like automatic collision notification, stolen-vehicle location, and emergency assistance. A rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors are available as options. Some standout safety specifications include:
With all the upgrades the 2014 Lexus has received, the CT 200h can be a complete package. It has amazing features, is a very safe and practical car, and performance is on par as well. We already feel that the car offers the best of the 4 /4 points we mentioned in the beginning. Now it might be lacking a little here and there, but that’s just net-picking. We recommend this car to everyone and is worth taking a look at.
