Overall Rating
The 2014 Lincoln MKS is an entry-level luxury sedan, which is a part of the all-new lineup of Lincoln. Lincoln hopes to improve its brand overall with this new line-up.
The 2014 Lincoln MKS is an entry-level luxury sedan, which is a part of the all-new lineup of Lincoln. Lincoln hopes to improve its brand overall with this new line-up. The MKS is powered by a V6 engine. The styling is pretty unique. It is a comfortable car, with really roomy interiors and a feature-loaded cabin. But we could not help but feel that probably we were in a more expensive Ford Taurus.
We feel that the base trim is sufficient. It has a powerful V6 engine, which moves this heavy vehicle pretty well. You can choose from the FWD or AWD, depending on your preference. Although we do recommend getting the Technology package or the Elite package. We also recommend the dual-panel sunroof to add some extra flair to your sedan.

The MKS comes with two engine options. The first is a 3.7L V6 that makes 304 hp @6500 rpm and 279 lb.-ft @4000 rpm. The second engine is a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 that makes 365 hp @5500 rpm and 350 lb-ft @1500 rpm. The engines are pretty refined and smooth. They easily carry the weight of the MKS. This car is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The MKS is offered as a rear-wheel-drive and as an all-wheel drive. The acceleration figures are not available for making a more comprehensive comparison with the rivals.

According to various owner inputs, the MKS handles well, and the new active damper system takes away any undulations that might be transmitted to you through the car. It is not aggressive and likes to roll around smoothly. The steering of the car inspires confidence and carries around the weight of the car well. The gearbox is precise, and the shifts are smooth. The car is always in the right gear at the right speed.
The MKS’s EPA claimed mileage and economy numbers are decent comparatively. The MKS’s fuel economy is good at 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The fuel tank has a good capacity of 19 gallons. The AWD version of this car makes less mileage than the RWD variant, at 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

The Cadillac XTS loses out on the fuel efficiency test with its low numbers of 342 miles in the city and 532 miles on the highway. The Chrysler 300, on the other hand, edges past the MKS with a range of 370.5 in the city and 585 miles on the highway. With that said, the MKS offers a decent range of 361 miles and 551 miles in the city and on the highway, respectively.
The 2014 MKS’s interior has no compromise in terms of luxury. The cabin is attractive, and the usage of ambient lighting makes it all more premium. The material quality and fit & finish are pretty good, except a few places where the switchgear is from some of the lower Fords.
The cabin is very quiet and relaxing, and the smooth ride makes it much better. There is one noticeable thing, the interiors of the car don’t feel as big as they look. The sedan comes with a cargo capacity of 19.2 cubic feet.

The front seats of the MKS are very comfortable but feel a little cramped due to the huge central console and the thick pillars. The MKS is big on the rear-seat legroom, and the comfort is supreme. There is a lot of small storage space on offer. The 300 and the XTS do a better job at passenger comfort because of the really long legroom on offer. The trunk offers 19.2 cubic feet of space, which is above par for a car of this class. A few interior features are:
The infotainment system of the MKS is a little complicated like the one on the Ford. It is also slow and glitchy. As standard fitment, you get Sync voice control, the MyLincoln Touch electronics interface, mobile Wi-Fi, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a 10-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio, and a USB/iPod interface.
The optional Elite system package adds a premium 16-speaker surround-sound audio system (with HD radio) and a navigation system. Some standout infotainment features include:
The 2014 Lincoln MKS is a looker of a car and does turn a lot of heads with the dramatic styling it has. The grille of the sedan is a biased piece, with some liking it and some not. We like how the grille swoops up and merges with the headlights. The lower half of the front looks very chiseled, and the hood looks more muscular now. This gives an impression of the car being lower and wider when viewed from the front.
It has got thick pillars on the side, and the roof flows at the rear down into the trunk. The rear of the car is neatly done, with C-shaped tail-lights and the blinkers inside them. The two exhaust vents at the bottom give the car a very sporty feel. The car has a total length of 190.7 inches. It is 72.4 inches wide, 57.3 tall, and has a wheelbase of 112.2 inches.

Differences in dimensions and overall proportions are noticeable when the cars are placed side by side. The MKS is tall, wide, long, and heavy as well. It also sits pretty high up from the ground. When comparing the wheelbase, the Chrysler has the most ar 120.2 inches. The Chrysler is also the lightest car in this comparison at 3,961 lbs. Major exterior highlights of the sedan include:
The MKS received a top-class 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA. As standard, stability control, traction control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, antilock brakes, MyKey, rear-view camera, and rear parking sensors are available on the car. The MyKey feature allows owners to set certain driving parameters for teen drivers. There is also an emergency crash notification service that notifies 911 in the event of an airbag deployment. Optional equipment on the Lexus includes adaptive cruise control with collision warning and brake support, blind-spot/cross-traffic warning systems, and lane-keeping assist. Some standout safety specifications include:
The Lincoln MKS is a very spacious and long sedan that makes you feel like you are sitting in a long hall. With its very luxurious interiors and a large number of features, the MKS interior is very usable and practical. Also, the 3.7 L V6 is a performer, and sure to leave you satisfied. Even after all these points, there are a few hits and misses in the car, but the price the car comes at makes it a very interesting proposition. We recommend you to definitely take a test drive of this car and indulge in the experience the Lincoln offers.
