The Lincoln MKZ is powered by a standard 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 motor with a turbocharger. The motor can dish out a maximum of 240 horsepower and 270lb-ft of maximum torque. The figures are pretty solid for a 2liter turbo four-pot motor and the performance is quite punchy as well. Turbo lag is quite well contained and there is no delay in throttle response. The six-speed automatic transmission does a good job of handling all the power from the engine and delivering it to the front axles and all four wheels when equipped with the AWD layout. The combination of the motor and the transmission allows the car to hit 60mph within 7.2 seconds, an average timing for the segment.

The Acura TL has a much bigger V6 powertrain with more power output than the MKZ but the figure isn’t vastly different though thanks to the brilliant motor developed by Ford. The TL also has a lower torque output than the MKZ. The Audi A4 has the least power output figure among the three on the list but has a marginally better torque output than the Acura TL.
The Lincoln MKZ does a great job of returning some commendable mileage figures considering its segment and performance. The city mileage of the sedan is rated at 22mpg while the highway mileage is rated at 33mpg. The combined mileage is rated at 26mpg.

The Acura TL has much lower fuel economy ratings than the MKZ sedan but it is quite acceptable considering its horsepower rating and the size of its powertrain. The Audi A4 has the best mileage ratings among the three on the list.
The interior of the Lincoln MKZ offers a mixed experience and has a slightly smaller than average overall cabin space owing to the proportions of the interior panels. The dashboard design is quite catchy along with the button-less center stack that gives a futuristic look.
The high-mounted center stack, however, limits the front seat space. The overall materials are of medium grade and lack the premium touch and the brushed metal surfaces look and feel like plastic when inspected closely. Apart from the confining space of the front seats, the comfort levels are good and the rear seats are also quite comfortable with a generous amount of legroom but lack headroom for taller passengers owing to the sloping roofline.

The Acura Tl has a well built cabin too with high quality materials all around and good amount of headroom and legroom on offer. The Audi A4 has the most spacious and luxurious cabin among the three on the list and its supple ride quality further enhances the comfort.
The MKZ sedan comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen interface with MyLincoln Touch infotainment system and incorporates several features.
The features start off with Sync voice-command system and continue to offer an 11-speaker sound system with CD player, auxiliary/USB/iPod input jacks, and satellite radio. The Select package adds HD radio to the infotainment system.
Infotainment system features are:
With the design refresh for the previous model year, the sedan became more appealing to the eye with a better all over design language. The front end looks sleek yet wide with the new front grille design and there are ample indications of a Swedish design influence all around the sedan.
The side profile looks distinct with some sculpted lines and the rear end looks futuristic with its sleek LED-bar shaped tail light module.

TThe Acura TL has a more flowing design than the MKZ and doesn;t stand out from the crowd unlike the latter. The Audi A4 has its own design language with a distinctive and aggressive font grille and a corporate design.
The MKZ sedan impresses in the safety aspect too with its excellent safety scores. The NHTSA gave the sedan a top 5-star rating while the IIHS gave its maximum possible “Good” rating to the sedan as well. The standard safety measures include antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side-impact airbags, front knee airbags, side curtain airbags, programmable MyKey to set limits for vehicle speed and stereo volume for young drivers. The Sync system also has an emergency telematics system that dials 911 when it senses that the airbags of the car have been deployed.
Safety features of the sedan are:
The Lincoln MKZ is a brilliant and stylish sedan from Lincoln and comes with an attractive price tag. The performance on offer is also solid for the segment and it really impresses with its fuel economy with an efficient yet power-packed motor.
