The Base trim of the Scion tC with an automatic transmission opted would be the best choice. It comes with a retuned chassis and an improved transmission along with other features and the same engine as the higher trim. The Scion tC Turbo comes with a 2.5 L Inline-4 engine churning out 179 hp of maximum power and 173 lb-ft of maximum torque. The hatchback has the option of a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual as their preferred transmission in all trims. The Scion tC takes 7.4 seconds to reach a speed of 60 mph and 15.6 seconds to cross the quarter-mile mark. 

The tC is a fun-to-drive machine equipped with one of the most powerful engines in the segment giving out great power especially in lower revs, in a smooth manner. The small size results in better maneuverability, and combined with the nimble handling, offers zippy performance to drive around town. It is one of the best driving experiences in the small hatchback segment.

It delivers fuel efficiency of 23 mpg in the city, 31 on the highway, and a combined efficiency of 26 mpg with its powerful engine. The Scion has a fuel capacity of 14.5 gallons, outputting a range of 334 miles in the city, 450 on the highway, and a combined range of 377 miles. 

In comparison, the Mazda 3 is the most fuel-efficient, offering a combined efficiency of 33 mpg, followed by the Scion and Kia offering 26 mpg of combined efficiency. The Scion has the largest fuel capacity of 14.5 gallons, followed by the Kia with a fuel capacity of 14.2 gallons. The Mazda comes with the smallest 13.2-gallon fuel tank. The Mazda delivers the best-combined range of 435 miles, followed by the Scion and Soul delivering 377 and 369 miles, respectively.

The 2014 Scion tC has a sporty-looking cabin along with spacious, comfortable, and supportive front-row seats. The rear row seats are usable even though it lacks space compared to the rivals in the segment.

But definitely, they are not super cramped or useless. The cabin has a sporty personality all around, which many might find impressive. The materials and elements in the interior are of average quality, and the fit and finish are not super impressive but not very bad either.

The Scion is not very spacious, having the least legroom in the rear row. The Mazda has the most legroom in the front row, whereas the Soul has the most in the second row. When it comes to cargo capacity, the Scion again falls short of its rivals, offering a low cargo capacity of 14.7 cu-ft, while the Mazda offers 20.2 cu-ft and the Kia Soul offers significantly better cargo space, measuring 24.2 cu-ft. How intuitive is the 2018 Scion tC’s infotainment unit?

The exterior beauty of the Scion tC is totally subjective, and for me personally, the 2014 Scion tC looks beautiful, sporty, and more like a sedan from the rear-end. The side profile looks - again, sporty and sleek, with 18-inch wheels which looks dull and is not actually contributing to the sporty nature.

The Scion tC weighs 3,124 lbs, which is on the higher side. The hatchback has a ground clearance of 6.3 inches, which is quite practical.

The Scion weighs the most, weighing in at 3,124 lbs, followed by the Mazda 3 which weighs a lower 2,873 lbs, followed by the Kia that weighs a significantly lower 2,714 lbs. The Scion is the longest, while the Kia is the highest.
