The 2014 Toyota Avalon comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine which produces 268 hp and 248 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
The sedan feels more responsive and planted. The steering wheel feels lighter at low speed and heavier at high speed. The suspension is on the stiffer side making the ride a bit firm.

The V6 is smooth and responsive and the power delivery is in a quiet and unruffled manner. Avalon is an impressive blend of comfort, performance, and efficiency. But the firmness of the suspension makes the ride a little bumpy. But the engine makes up for this problem by delivering the power effortlessly. The brakes are tuned to match the increased responsiveness of the car.
The 2014 Toyota Avalon goes from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, which is one of the quicker times for this segment. The estimated fuel economy stands at 25 mpg on average. Whereas it gives 21 mpg in city drive conditions and 31 mpg on the highway for the XLE and XLE Premium. The Touring and Limited have a slightly lower 24 mpg combined estimate.

The 2014 Toyota Avalon gives more fuel economy compared to its rival. Avalon gives better efficiency in both highway and city but has a small fuel tank. The 3.6-liter V6 is both powerful and fuel-efficient. It is also smooth and refined. It stays planted even at three-digit speed and does not lack power. Low-end torque helps highway maneuvering easily.
The Avalon's interior is large and well-designed, with high-quality materials. The front seats are very comfortable and highly adjustable, with plenty of side supporting and lumbar support for both the driver and the front passenger.
The Avalon's rear seats are quite spacious. Avalon Touring and Limited come standard with Entune, a suite of smartphone-connected services. The touchscreen interface has straightforward menus, but it's not the best in the segment.

Storage compartments are large enough to put drinks and personal effects. The car is equipped with auxiliary and USB connections. A large center armrest provides additional storage space and supplementary connectivity and charging for cell phones. The generous boot offers 16 cubic feet of space, and its wide opening and low liftover height make it easy to load heavy bags and will not scratch the paint while doing so.
The 2014 Toyota Avalon has plenty of features including an 11 speaker JBL premium speaker and navigation system with voice activation. Bluetooth connectivity comes as standard and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system for the limited trim.
The adaptive cruise control which comes as an option makes driving easy. The fairly responsible touchscreen is easy to use and Toyota's Entune system makes it better.
The new Toyota Avalon comes with 18 inch painted aluminum alloy wheels which look staggering. But a 20-inch wheel would have been better. It also comes with a sunroof which is not panoramic but it makes the cabin airier.
The driver and passenger mirrors have auto-dimming features as standard. Heated door mirrors are also standard and are very useful in the winter season. The front bumper has a large grill which helps in cooling the V6 and also provides sleekness to the design.
