Overall Rating
In fact, with the introduction of the RDX, Acura made a strong mark in the compact luxury SUV category. Entering just its second year, the SUV moves on with no major changes in its palette. However, the brand ups its price by a minor margin for the upcoming year.
Honda’s reliable and trustworthy attributes have taken over the American automotive market. Walking into the shoes of its parent company, Acura has managed to attract a lot of woos from the luxury car segment. Although there is prime competition from domestic manufacturers like Infiniti, Lexus, and even some Germans, the brand has survived the beatings without compromising on quality and handing off its vehicles with absolute subtleness.
Acura offers only 1 trim but offers an option to choose from AWD or FWD version. To get the best value for the money, we recommend getting the AWD version as it will have a better overall performance along with a powerful engine. Technological packages can also opt as it brings with it a great array of advanced features that takes the overall experience to another level.

Nothing much has changed for the RDX this year and hence it retains its only form available to be bought. Yes, the 2015 Acura RDX is offered in a singular trim - the Base. It is as if the RDX is a kind of a test vehicle for the brand to understand the segment needs.
Nevertheless, to keep the populace from suspecting a trick the RDX is categorized into two different Base trims, each with its own drive system. Besides, the brand provides two explicit package options that cater specifically to the technological and leisure requirements of its customers. Devoid of these, the RDX’s tag price starts from $34,590 and moves up to $36,090 with an AWD.

Under its hood, the RDX comes with a big 3.5L-V6 engine along with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine feels powerful, refined, and punchy. The engine not only feels more responsive but also is intelligent as it shuts off the cylinders in pairs in order to conserve fuel.
The engine deactivation is hard to notice and this takes the experience to another level. The RDX isn't sporty, but it has responsive handling, feels very confident, and has a strong V-6. Meanwhile, Acura’s 6-speed automatic transmission is standard and feels more responsive with quick gearshifts, and helps the car zipping around on the streets briskly.

The 2015 Acura RDX doesn’t exactly position itself like a rocket. Yet it exceeded our expectations in terms of initial acceleration and passing power. The standard V6 idles smoother and pulls harder than the 4-cylinder turbocharged engines found in the Audi Q5 and BMW X1, and there’s a sport mode when more oomph is needed. Just as impressive is this 2-row SUV’s solid and secure ride quality.
Combined with its easy maneuverability, quiet cabin, and comfortable driver’s seat, the RDX is an exceptional partner for trips long or short. When taken for a quick spin, the RDX takes first place as it takes just 6.2 seconds to reach 60 mph. The X1 closely follows it with a time of 6.3 seconds. The Lexus takes 8.3 seconds to reach 60 mph and thus gets listed in the lower half of the list.
Everything comes at a price, and in the case of the RDX, it is different from its fiscal value. It is its thirst for premium gasoline. Due to its powerful and demanding engine, the RDX gets a thrifty fuel economy value of 22 mpg because of which lands at the end of the line. It begins with a claimed economy figure of 19 MPG in the city lights while getting away on the open roads burns about a gallon of fuel every 28 miles.
These figures, although not aggravating, are quite unsatisfactory coming from the house of Honda, one of the most refined manufacturers in the industry. Nevermind, the limited life that the RDX has enjoyed on the surface till now will surely ensure better days in the future.

Comparatively, the level of refinement is substantially higher in the rival vehicles. This means that the RDX has a long way to go before it could take all the advantages against its adversaries. Specifically, the BMW X1, the Buick Encore, and the Mazda CX-5 take the front seat in the chart for fuel efficiency, while they are followed closely by Lexus NX200t and the Audi Q3, in that chronological order. Unfortunately, the RDX occupies the last spot, despite a decent 16 liters of fuel tank capacity.
A great place to be, the interior of the new RDX feels well built with lots of room in it that can easily accommodate 5 adults with ease. From textures to the design and placement of the controls on the center console, the interior looks like a perfect mix of modern design and luxury. Soft-touch material abounds, and the 10-way power driver’s seat is a treat.Â
Front passengers, though, may feel like they’re riding low since that seat doesn’t adjust for height. We also like the RDX for its smart use of space. When not sitting up to three passengers in the roomy back seat, it folds in a 60/40 split to create up to 76.9 cubic feet of cargo space.

The front seats feel well-bolstered and comfortable and can easily fit a 6 ft. tall person. The rear seats offer enough legroom to stretch and relax. Also due to its slightly raised height, it gives a nice outward view and still leaves some inches in the headroom. Form and function successfully intersect in the RDX’s cabin.Â
Yes, there are still quite a few buttons and knobs planted in the center console, but they are easy to see and reach. When boot space is taken into account, the RDX offers a spacious boot space of 26.1 cu-ft., though a little less than the Mazda CX-5 that offers an even bigger boot space of 34.1 cu-ft.Â
The RDX houses a 5-inch infotainment system that may not be the best start towards an entertaining ride. In other words, the interface is quite fussy and confusing and thus operating it while driving poses a great challenge.
Below the screen, you will find a cluster of buttons that may distract the driver, also, it will take you months to have a natural understanding of using every feature. Then you have Apple CarPlay and plug-and-play connectivity available to be bought explicitly on the RDX. Some interesting entertainment features on the 2015 RDX include:
On the outside, the RDX is good looking, but it definitely looks less extroverted than it feels behind the wheel—and far more mature than the last-generation model, which is now fading to memory as a bold, original statement, but one that wasn't as popular as this current model. The shape of the RDX is smooth, and the profile is attractive, punctuated by pronounced fender arches.
With an attractive profile and looks, the RDX stands as a car with bold looks and aggressive styling along with smooth lines that blend together in a way to give the car a perfect crossover look. With its large fenders that give the car a muscular and beefed up look, to the jewel eye LED headlights and the new grille at the front that gives this car a modern and future-forward look.

From the front, the new RDX is at its most muscular, but the somewhat controversial bright 'beak' grille is toned down here. More powerful fenders and a standard crossover ride height give a sense of off-road capability, though the RDX is no true SUV--its roofline is low and arched, really more like that of a wagon.
On a competitive note, when pitted against each other, the X1 gives the RDX a tough completion. The RDX is a crossover that is more performance-oriented. On the other hand, the Audi Q3 and the Buick Encore fall short of length to bring them to the top, and so does the Mazda CX-5. The Acura RDX remains unchallenged in this respect. However, surprisingly, the host vehicle conceived a very low wheelbase, while the CX-5 manages a better axle distance.
For any manufacturers, safety has now become a crucial selling point in the American market. Without adequate safety, the vehicle is abandoned by the people for good. Thus, institutes like the NHTSA and the IIHS are striving hard to get vehicles tested. The Acura RDX might be a bit on the edge with other sections, but not with safety. The new Acura RDX comes equipped with a host of safety features.
While the Acura hasn't been tested by IIHS and NHTSA, Acura has ensured that the RDX doesn't miss out on any safety features. Acura bundles a bunch of safety features as standard on the 2020 RDX. You also get plenty of driving assistance features as standard on the 2020 RDX and the list of those includes:
The 2016 Acura RDX comes as a complete package that offers not only style and features, but also performance and practicality. With spacious interiors and a comfortable cabin, the RDX stands as a perfect car for those who want a car to not only take them from one place to another but also offers a ton of thrills while driving which makes fun to drive a car. With striking and futuristic looks, the 2016 Acura RDX stands as an attractive crossover that will definitely make the heads turn.
