There are a total of 3 trims available on the TLX. with the car being a luxury car, the lower trims already feature most of the offerings from Acura. The Technology trim adds a few driver’s aids and premium features, while the Advance PAckage offers the most of what the model can offer. The AWD V-6 pairing is not available in the standard trim, while the Technology trim is offered in every configuration. The Advance Package is only offered with the V-6 motor.

Considering the number of features offered, the Technology package makes the most sense. It also allows the choice of any configuration in the lineup based on preferences. The base TLX with the FWD V-6 engine is also a great offering and can save you some money.

The Acura TLX has two engines on offer. The first is a 2.4L inline-4 that makes 206 horsepower and 182 foot-pounds of torque. The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission which is a DCT gearbox along with a torque converter for added smoothness.

The second option is a 3.5L V-6 that puts up 290 horsepower and 267 foot-pounds of torque. The V-6 comes with an optional AWD, while the other engine only comes with a front-wheel-drive.

The Acura is pretty quick off the mark, though it is completely overshadowed by both the BMW 320i and the Mercedes-Benz C 300. The Mercedes-Benz C 300 has the best output of the competitors in its base trim. The BMW 320i on the other hand is the quickest to get to 60 mph.

The basic configuration is a 2.4L inline-4 engine with an 8-speed automatic gearbox which gives 24 mpg in cities, 35 mpg on highways, and 28 mpg combined. The V-6 engine can be paired with an AWD or an FWD. The latter of which gives an efficiency of 21 mpg in cities, 31 on highways, and 25 mpg combined. The FWD with the V-6 gives 21 mpg in cities, 34 mpg on highways, and 25 mpg combined.

The FWD inline-4 has comparable efficiency to the offerings by both Mercedes and the BMW 3 Series. the Mercedes-Benz C 300 has a large 18-gallon tank which gives it the best in class range of 500 miles.

The TLX gets better interiors than both the TL and the TSX sedan of the previous year. The front seats have great padding and decent support to provide a comfortable seat. The rear seat is also quite comfortable with a perfect seatback angle.

The rear seat headroom will be a bit tight for tall adults, though the legroom is quite spacious. The TLX’s cabin also has some brilliant noise-canceling measures, which eliminate road and wind noise almost completely.

Comparing the space in the rear row, the Mercedes-Benz C300 offers the best room, while even the interior quality is top-notch. Comparing boot space, the Acura TLX leads the competitors. The Acura has the best space in the front row of the car. Some standout interior features are:

How intuitive is the 2015 Acura TLX’s infotainment unit?

The Mercedes-Benz C 300 is the longest of the competitors, while the Acura TLX is the widest. The overall length of the TLX though is by far the best in the segment. It has a high degree of refinement and noiselessness in the cabin. The engine is responsive and efficient though it does leave something to be had compared to its rivals. Overall the Acura TLX is a worthy car in the segment, though it needs better refinement to overcome the likes of the BMW and the Mercedes-Benz.
