The 2015 Bentley Flying Spur is an elegant expression of British luxury. It is available in a sedan body style and seats five adults in utmost comfort, and is available at an MSRP of $195,100.
We feel the W12-engined Flying Spur makes for a better choice due to its superior feeling of refinement. The price difference of $20,000, even though significant, is a step in the right direction for a powertrain that special. It goes without saying that one can also customize the car according to the requirement and make the purchase truly special, albeit at an extra cost. Options like lambs wool carpeting, rear-seat entertainment, a two-passenger rear compartment with a full-length center console, and so on make the car a truly special experience.

The 2015 Bentley Flying Spur is available in two trims levels but the main distinctions remain in terms of mechanicals and not equipment. Both these trim levels are very well equipped and consist of adjustable air suspension, automatic Bi-xenon headlamps, Breitling analog dashboard clock, four-zone automatic climate control, and so on right from the base trim.
Bentley also offers a wide range of specifications that can be tailored according to the buyers' taste. Although options are quite expensive, the range that is offered is quite amazingly mind-blowing. The Mulliner specification adds 21-inch wheels, chrome lower front bumper and insert, a choice of 17 diamond-quilted perforated interior leather options, six board veneers, indented leather headliner, and so on. There are several standalone options as well which make the car the most tasteful of human creations.

The Bentley Flying Spur V-8 comes with the 4.0L V-8 engine that produces 500 hp and 486 pound-feet of torque. This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the only drivetrain offered is an all-wheel-drive.
This engine was introduced as an option only this year and has attracted quite a few buyers for its lower price as well as higher fuel efficiency rating. The 6.0L W12 engine is a truly special piece of equipment that promises excellent refinement and provides 616 hp and 590 pound-feet of torque. This is also mated to the same eight-speed transmission and all-wheel-drive.

After looking at the spec sheets, one does not doubt the strength of even Bentley’s base powertrain. The W12 version is even more powerful than the most powerful car in this class, the Rolls-Royce Ghost. It returns the highest power output and also the best 0 to 60 mph figures of its class. Even without that, the V8 engined Bentley is eager to finish the quarter-mile in just 13.3 seconds. The Maybach and the Rolls-Royce are, however, faster to both the 60 mph mark as well as the quarter-mile mark.
The V-8 engine introduced this year bests the fuel efficiency of the W12. It returns an EPA estimated 14 MPG in the city, 24 MPG on the highway, and 17 MPG in the combined cycle. The W12 models return 12 MPG in the city, 20 MPG on the highway, and a combined output of 15 MPG. Along with the fuel tank with a rather large capacity of 24 gallons, it returns a range of- 336 miles inside the city and 576 miles on the highway.

The Rolls-Royce takes a hit when it comes to fuel efficiency and range due to its gas-guzzling powertrain. The Mercedes is the most fuel-efficient by virtue of its smaller engine. Bentley has intelligently put itself in the same territory as the Mercedes with its V8 power plant. It compensates for the mileage achieved by the Mercedes with its exceptionally large fuel tank, which is also the largest in class.
The interiors of the Bentley are a true expression of opulence. Hand-stitched leather and lacquered wood give the cabin touch of class, while metallic accents beautifully highlight the magnificent designs inside.
Add to this the fact that it can be insanely customized from the factory itself, and you start to realize why the car is truly exclusive. The seats are extremely spacious, especially the rear seats, which have power adjustments and such. The trunk space is just okay at 15.6 ft.³.

The Rolls-Royce and the Bentley truly set themselves apart in terms of the interior space offered. The Mercedes S 560 Maybach has a very long wheelbase but still fails to offer the same kind of rear-seat legroom as the British rivals. Seating is offered for five as standard, but it is a nicer option to go with the four-seater layout. The Bentley also offers the highest cargo space of its category. Some of its interior features include:
The infotainment unit in the Bentley is an eight-inch touchscreen interface. It imparts certain technologies from Audi’s MMI plus system for its infotainment and benefits from the technology borrowed.
There is also a wireless touchscreen remote that makes the experience quite seamless for backseat passengers. Even though it faced a bit of backlash for borrowing the Audi system, it is quite a big upgrade from previous generation Bentleys. Few standout infotainment features available are-
The Bentley Flying Spur is truly a sight to behold due to its stunning exteriors. It features the classiest British design of recent times and has a certain appeal to it that speaks both luxury and dynamism. It measures 208.5 inches in length, 77.8 inches in width, and 58.6 inches in height. It has a decent wheelbase of 120.7 inches.

One can see that all cars in the segment are somewhat of the same dimensions. But it is surprising to see that Mercedes has quite a long wheelbase and yet lower legroom. The Rolls-Royce looks the largest but not in terms of dimensions. The Bentley has the shortest wheelbase and overall length and is almost the heaviest. Some of its standout exterior features include:
Cars like the Bentley, which are very expensive, are generally not crash-tested by the IIHS and the NHTSA. That is not to say that these cars are not safe as it packs a lot of amazing technology that includes antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front and rear parking sensors, airbags, ABS, and so on. Some standout safety features include:
The2015 Bentley Flying Spur is a true alternative to the Rolls-Royce Ghost in every sense. It offers equally competent powertrains and supreme amounts of luxury at the very relatively reasonable price of $195,100. The Mercedes S 560 is also a great choice but it lacks the kind of handcrafted luxury that is offered by its British counterparts. Now with the introduction of the V-8 powertrain, Bentley has cemented its reputation among luxury car buyers as an excellent choice.
