Overall Rating
For the 2015 model year, the SUV has arrived to please everyone once again in a fully redesigned avatar with newer features and better comfort.
The Cadillac Escalade has always been the “big” bad-boy of the legendary American luxury carmaker and has retained its status amidst the tough competition in a market full of highly-specced full-size SUVs. For the 2015 model year, the SUV has arrived to please everyone once again in a fully redesigned avatar with newer features and better comfort.
Since the Escalade is a premium full-size SUV, it can be had according to your preference and capability to spend. However, we would recommend you the Luxury trim with AWD, or if you can spend more, directly opt for the top-specced Platinum trim with AWD as these two make the most sense for the price they carry.

The Cadillac Escalade is powered by a huge 6.2-liter V8 gasoline motor which is standard across all the trim levels. The behemoth motor produces a beefy 420 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque. The motor is more than adequately powered for the huge SUV and while driving it won’t make you wanting for more.
The engine remains stress-free at all times and picks up the pace quite quickly considering the size of the vehicle. The 0-60 time is also quite impressive at 6.1 seconds. The braking performance of the SUV is quite decent too with a 60-0mph distance of 133 feet.

The competitors of the Escalade offers superb performance at a much lower price than the Escalade which makes it a luxury option for those seeking performance at a reasonable price. That being said, the competitors do offer lesser power output figures but the acceleration times are quite close to the Escalade’s and the Lincoln Navigator even generates the same amount of torque as the much bigger V8 motor of the Escalade.
Full-size SUVs with their sheer size and weight along with beefy engines were never meant to be exactly fuel-efficient to a great extent and the Escalade is no different. With a monstrous 6.2liter V8 under the hood, the Escalade returns a reasonable 14mpg in the city driving conditions and 23mpg out on the highways. The combined mpg rating stands at 17mpg.

All the rivals of the Escalade are more or less similar in the fuel-economy aspect. The Navigator offers a slightly better city mileage but a bit lesser highway rating. The Nissan Armada offers a similar city mpg to the Escalade but offers a much lower highway mpg rating. The Toyota Sequoia offers the lowest fuel efficiency rating on the list.
The interior of the Escalade is where it really shines. The interior of the Escalade is truly plush and feature-loaded to the brim. The cabin is laden with premium materials abundantly and features an attractive design that puts it in the same line as other Cadillac vehicles. The front and middle row seats can accommodate full-size adults with superb comfort for short to very long trips while the third-row seats are a tight-fit for adults but okay for small kids.
The second-row seats even offer an electronic reclining feature that adds to the premium statement of the vehicle. Overall, the cabin looks more upscale than most of its rivals and justifies its hefty price-tag. The cargo capacity on offer is quite impressive too and offers the practicality of a regular utility vehicle.

The rivals surely fall short in comfort features and premium cabin materials when compared to the Escalade but are not disappointing either. The Armada and the Navigator are adequately spacious but the Sequoia offers a disappointingly low headroom for the front seats.
Interior features include:
The infotainment system of the Escalade is powered by the Cadillac User Experience system and comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen display. The CUE system is very fluid and easy to use with easily comprehensible menu icons.
The system can be controlled via touch-sensitive sliders that replace the traditional knobs which might be a bit distracting while driving.Â
The standard features of the infotainment system are:
After a full redesign, the exterior of the Escalade now looks more upmarket and premium with a huge but sleek designed front grille carrying the Cadillac emblem. The new design lines of the SUV are sophisticated, and the vertically stacked LED lights both on the front and the rear is quite dramatic and looks beautiful.
There are tasteful chrome lines all around the vehicle while the side profile doesn’t feel out of place. The standard 20-inch wheels fill-up the massive wheel-arches nicely leaving adequate space for the necessary wheel travel.

Among the rivals, the Lincoln Navigator is the closest contender of the Escalade in terms of premium styling and overall appeal. It is also longer and heavier than the Caddy but the former looks more premium owing to its iconic front fascia. The rest of the rivals offers a decent overall exterior design as opposed to the Caddy while the Armada and the Sequoia offer excellent ground clearance and prove to be a better off-roader than the luxury-oriented Caddy and the navigator.
Apart from being supremely comfortable and carrying an immense road presence, the Cadillac Escalade is quite a safe vehicle too by modern standards. Unfortunately, the Caddy doesn’t carry enough safety ratings from the reputed organizations performing crashworthiness tests. The NHTSA gave a full 5-star to the SUV only for side crash rating and a 3-star for rollover test. The IIHS has not tested the vehicle as of now. The SUV comes with a host of safety features that are advanced in nature such as automatic collision preparation and automatic seat-belt tightening.
Some standard safety aids include:
The 2015 Cadillac Escalade continues with its previously achieved premium full-size SUV status and comes with an all-new design and upgraded interior. The SUV offers a strong performance from its huge V8 motor and makes every ride a memorable one with a plethora of comfort and convenience features. Apart from being immensely comfortable, it also offers the utility of a regular SUV with a generous cargo capacity and foldable seats. Overall, if you’re in need of a true-blue American SUV with a premium build quality and oodles of comfort, the Escalade is the one to go for.
