Overall Rating
The Cadillac XTS is a handsome touring sedan from the American car brand and is quite new since it was launched in 2013.
The Cadillac XTS is a handsome touring sedan from the American car brand and is quite new since it was launched in 2013. The sedan perfectly blends comfort, style, and performance, giving its German counterparts stiff competition within the segment. The sedan comes with a V6 motor as standard and opting for its performance-oriented Vsport Twin Turbo sees the same motor fitted with a twin-turbocharging system to offer significantly better power and torque output.
We would advise you to go for the Premium trim since it is worth the ten grand price bump over the Luxury trim. If you feel that the standard V6 is a bit “meh” for your liking, you can go for the V-sport Twin Turbo edition of the Premium trim as well.

The Cadillac XTS sedan is offered in a total of six trim levels. The base Standard trim comes with some excellent features such as adaptive air suspension with auto-leveling, power-operated tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, remote engine start, 8-way power-adjustable front seats, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seatbacks.
The Luxury trim sees a huge bump in the list of available standard features and justifies the price bump. Illuminated door handles, heated outboard seats, and automatic rain-sensing wipers are some of the features offered as standard in this trim. The Vsport Premium Twin Turbo adds a bigger 20-inch wheel, an electronic limited-slip differential, and a twin-turbocharging system fitted into the same standard V6. It is also offered only in an AWD layout.
The Platinum trim focuses more on the rear seat comfort by adding a deluxe rear arm-rest with audio and power sunshade controls. The Platinum V-sport Twin Turbo gets chrome-accented wheels and a fully upgraded leather upholstery among several other features and is priced at $69,785.

We would advise you to go for the Premium trim since it is worth the ten grand price bump over the Luxury trim. If you feel that the standard V6 is a bit “meh” for your liking, you can go for the V-sport Twin Turbo edition of the Premium trim as well.
The Cadillac XTS sedan comes with two engine choices, a standard V6 and a twin-turbo version of the same motor. The standard V6 is powerful enough and cranks out a decent 304 horsepower and 264lb-ft of torque. Since the XTS is a luxury tourer, the refinement levels are just about perfect and the motor maintains its composure under various driving conditions. Enthusiastic driving might make you feel that a more horsepower count would’ve been better.
The 0-60mph dash takes 7.3 seconds, an average timing considering the full-size luxury sedan standards. The twin-turbo V6 brings down this time to a decent 5.4 seconds. The 6-speed automatic transmission feels smooth and lag-free, providing you with the right gear at the right time. The handling is excellent and on par with its German counterparts along with an excellent ride comfort on offer.

The Lexus GS 350 offers a slightly better performance than the XTS but comes with a hefty price tag for its entry-level trim. The Hyundai Genesis offers the best price to performance ratio and is the most powerful one among the three on the list.
Fuel economy of full-size luxury sedans combined with their beefy engines has always been on the lower side but that is not the case with the Cadillac XTS. The sedan offers a city mileage of 18mpg and an excellent highway mileage of 28mpg. The combined mileage is rated at 22mpg.

The Lexus GS 350 has a slightly better overall mileage rating as opposed to the XTS sedan but is nothing surprising considering its power figures. The Hyundai Genesis does a great job at balancing performance and fuel economy perfectly. Its fuel economy ratings are quite decent if we consider its overall performance as compared to the other two on the list.
The Cadillac XTS sedan offers you just the right amount of cabin space as you’d expect from a 17-feet long luxury sedan. The cabin is more focused to offer a comfortable experience to the rear passengers and has more than adequate headroom and legroom. The seats are extremely comfortable at both the front and the rear while the front seats do come with power adjustments for better comfort.
The dashboard of the sedan looks quite futuristic in terms of its design and the gauges are placed accurately along with the controls. The only downside is the overly-cluttered center console that houses a lot of buttons to control the infotainment system and can be quite distracting while driving. Apart from that, the cabin is laid out with exceptionally high-quality materials, a traditional Cadillac touch and the tasteful leather upholstery further enhances the rich feeling.

The Lexus GS 350 also comes with an equally plush and luxurious cabin as the XTS sedan with ample of luxury features on offer. The headroom and legroom of the GS sedan is also almost perfect for a full-size luxury sedan. The Hyundai Genesis simply blows out the competition with its superior headroom for both the front and rear passengers along with its extremely feature rich cabin.
The infotainment system of the Cadillac XTS sedan comes with the brand’s CUE infotainment system. The system comes with an 8-inch touchscreen that plays multiple roles by displaying all the controls and information about the CUE interface, OnStar system, and the standard connectivity options.Â
The 4G LTE connectivity option with Wi-Fi hotspot option is a commendable addition to the system and it helps for a seamless music experience on the go. Other standard features of the infotainment system are Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity for up to 10 devices, voice controls and an eight-speaker Bose sound system with a CD player, satellite radio, HD radio, USB connectivity, an SD-card slot and an auxiliary input.
Highlighted features of the infotainment system are:
The Cadillac XTS sedan feels big from every aspect and its beefy exterior dimensions lead to a positive trait, a superbly spacious cabin.
Cadillac’s Art & Science theme design is also quite prominent on the XTS sedan with more smoother and swoopier details all around the sedan. The tasteful chrome detailing looks spectacular during the day time and it makes quite a show wherever it arrives.

The Lexus GS 350 is by all means, a big sedan but feels average in front of the XTS’ dimensions. It is also shorter in length than the XTS as well. The Hyundai Genesis comes with a more futuristic and fluidic design and almost matches the XTS in terms of exterior dimensions.
The Cadillac XTS comes with an excellent safety quotient too with its superb crash ratings and advanced safety techs onboard. The sedan bagged a top 5-star rating from the NHTSA and a best possible “Good” rating from the IIHS as well. The standard safety techs present on the sedan are antilock disc brakes, stability control and traction control, front and rear-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and front knee airbags, OnStar emergency telematics which include automatic crash notification, on-demand roadside assistance, remote door unlocking, stolen vehicle assistance and turn-by-turn navigation.
Highlighted safety features of the sedan are:
The Cadillac XTS is nothing short of phenomenal when it comes to giving a tough competition to its German counterparts and offering superior luxury and comfort levels. The performance aspect is quite decent with the basic V6 motor while the twin-turbo V6 ups the ante. Overall, the 2015 Cadillac XTS sedan poses as a great alternative to some of the Japanese and German luxury sedans in the market.
