Overall Rating
Chrysler priced the 300 sedan at an MSRP of $32,690 which brings this into direct competition with the Dodge Charger, Buick LaCrosse, and Hyundai Genesis.
The new Chrysler 300 is a premium full-size sedan. It comes with good performance from a 3.6-liter engine with the option of a more powerful 5.7 liter V8. The power by default is directed to the rear wheels and has the option of all-wheel-drive.
The interior of the cabin is spacious and comes with many comfort features like power-adjustable seats with heating and ventilation functions. The interior upholstery is leather by standard, and the technology is good as well. Chrysler priced the 300 sedan at an MSRP of $32,690 which brings this into direct competition with the Dodge Charger, Buick LaCrosse, and Hyundai Genesis.
We recommend getting the S trim as it comes with plenty of premium features available in the base trim and gets its own unique styling with black accents on the exterior, performance wheels, 10-speaker beats the audio system, sports seats, and a re-tuned engine for better performance. For this, we would recommend keeping the 3.6-liter engine and getting the car in RWD.

We recommend
We recommend getting the S trim as it comes with plenty of premium features available in the base trim and gets its own unique styling with black accents on the exterior, performance wheels, 10-speaker beats the audio system, sports seats, and a re-tuned engine for better performance. For this, we would recommend keeping the 3.6-liter engine and getting the car in RWD.
The Chrysler 300 comes with a 3.6 liter V6 making 292hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The 300S trim gets a sporty tuned version of the same engine which has 300hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired to an 8-speed transmission which directs the power to the rear wheels or all the wheels, depending on the powertrain selected.
There is an optional engine - a 5.7 liter Hemi V8 which makes 363hp and 394 lb-ft of torque. It is paired to the same 8-speed transmission and power goes only to the rear wheels. In its base, it can 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds and quarter-mile in 14.8 seconds. With the V8 it does the 0-60 mph sprint in 5.3 seconds and the quarter-mile in 13.8 seconds. Both engines have a top speed of 155 mph.

The most combined range is given by the Hyundai Genesis of 446 miles. Then comes the Chrysler 300 which gives a combined range of 439 miles, the Dodge Charger with a combined range of 425 miles, and the Buick LaCrosse with a combined range of 388 miles. As the mpg numbers are similar, the difference is due to the fuel capacity difference.
The interior of the Chrysler 300 can seat 5 occupants. The interior is not plush but comfortable. The front row has a heated 8-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seat with power lumbar. The S trim gets sports front seats with the power-adjustable and heated functions. The C trim adds the ventilation feature to the base trims front seats and a heated feature to the rear outboard seats.Â
The upholstery is leather on the base trim, the Platinum gets more features on the inside like extended leather upholstery (dash, door insert, and many other places). There is also dual-zone automatic air conditioning as standard across all trims. Other features on the Platinum trim include power-adjustable pedals and heated and cooled cupholders. The 300 has a trunk space of 16.3 cu-ft. which can be extended once the rear seats are folded down.Â

Apart from the Hyundai Genesis which offers the frontest legroom, the rest of the sedans offer similar front legroom space. When it comes to the rear it is the opposite with the Hyundai offering the least with the Chrysler 300, Dodge and Buick offering similar space, which is more than the Hyundai. The most trunk space is offered by the Dodge Charger with 16.5 cu-ft which is marginally more than the Chrysler 300’s trunk space.
The infotainment system on the Chrysler 300 is an 8.4-inch touchscreen running on the Uconnect operating system. The system can be easily operated and is simple to understand. The system includes the basic features of Bluetooth connectivity for phone calls and audio, voice commands, WiFi hotspot, 6 speaker sound system.
The navigation system comes standard on C trim (available as an optional extra on lower trims) along with an Alpine 6-speaker sound system. Available is a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.Â
The exterior of the Chrysler 300 is quite simple and is a modern version of the previous generation 300. The exterior has many features based on the trims. The biggest difference is the wheels. The base gets 17” alloy wheels, the S gets 20” alloy wheels in black, the C gets 18” wheels and the Platinum gets 20” polished wheels. This variation is when the car comes with a rear-wheel-drive. With all wheels drive all the trims to get 19” wheels.
The rest of the car is similar across the trims, Limited getting body-color accents, and some chrome accents. The S gets black exterior accents and a dual-sport exhaust. The C trim gets chrome accents and the Platinum gets an extended range of chrome accents on the exterior. The headlights are automatic and the taillights are LED. Other exterior options are Xenon headlights and a panoramic roof.

The exterior is similar to the above cars in almost all dimensions, except the wheelbase of the Buick which is nearly 10 inches shorter in length than the Chrysler 300. The difference would come in the weight where the above sedans are within 200 pounds of each other, the lightest being the Buick and heaviest the Hyundai.
The new Chrysler 300 has not yet completed its NHTSA crash testing. We expect good scores from the sedan. The IIHS has given it “good” scores in most of its tests and has scored one “marginal” and “acceptable” score, which does not allow it to get a top safety pick award.
However, there are many safety features in the 300, and more can be added in the form of packages. Some of these safety features are:
The Chrysler 300 is a good buy in its segment. It comes with a good amount of space on the inside and a good amount of features which will make you feel comfortable irrespective of the trim you buy. There are good engines available and the optional all-wheel-drive system which will make you happy when you drive the car. We say it is a good balance of comfort, performance, and value for money making it a good choice when you are looking among full-size sedans.
