Overall Rating
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan comes with two engine options while the 8-speed automatic w/OD and auto-manual remain standard.
Hardly do you come across a car name transforming into its own separate brand, but that’s what happened when Hyundai released its Genesis. After a run of around 8 years spanning across two generations, the Genesis, which was just a luxury offering from Hyundai, turned itself into a luxury division from the shores of South Korea. In its first year of the second generation, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan has everything when you think of luxury along with punchy performance.
Hyundai has filled the sedan with more than enough comfort and luxury even from the base 3.8 trim, and it would be a wise decision to actually stick with the base trim for better value for money. Also, the 3.8L V6 is adequately powered to keep the driver enthralled during a ride. The only reason for going ahead with the 5.0 trim would be when you want to go all out with what Hyundai has to offer in the lineup. One can also choose the optional packages like Signature, Tech, and Ultimate package, which enhance the list of features on the inside or outside.

Slotted below the Hyundai Equus, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis is available in two trims with an option of two drivetrains in the base trim. The two trims are named after the engine they come fitted with, namely 3.8 for 3.8L V6 and 5.0 for a 5.0L V8 engine under the hood. The price of the sedan falls between 38,000 for the base trim and goes up to $51,000 for the top-end 5.0 trim.

In comparison, both the rivals stand behind Genesis in power output, although BMW manages to get past the Genesis’ torque figure of 293 lb-ft by offering marginal better torque of 295 lb-ft of torque. BMW owns the competition in performance as it takes the least amount of time of 5.5 seconds to reach the 60 mph mark from a standstill. When comparing the top speed, again BMW outperforms its rivals by offering the best-in-class figure of 155 mph.
One does not expect a luxury car with a V6 or V8 to not put your hard-earned money in the fuel tank, and that is what we see in the fuel-economy figures of Genesis. The 2015 Hyundai Genesis manages to offer 18 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. Overall, the sedan pushes out a mileage of 22 MPG. The sedan comes with a fuel tank of 20.3 gallons, which results in a range of 365.4 and 588.7 miles in the city and on the highway, respectively.

BMW 5 Series comes out to be the clear winner here as it offers EPA ratings of 20 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 24 mpg combined. Following BMW in the department is another German, the Mercedes E 350 with 20 city/29 highway, and 23 mpg combined. Thanks to its fuel tank capacity which is the biggest in the competition, the E 350 offers the best-in-class highway range of 611.9 miles.
The redesigning for the year has increased the length of the wheelbase to almost 3 inches, which has helped in enjoying more legroom at the back. When it comes to the interior, Hyundai has adorned the inside of the sedan with a minimalist philosophy.
The dashboard and the center console of the sedan look graceful without going all flashy, which we think is an admiring aspect of the sedan. The materials used on the surfaces inside are of premium quality such as leather and wood trim. In a few words, the interior of the Genesis is what you call subtle luxury, which we think always remains a premium aspect for any sedan. The 2015 Genesis comes with a cargo capacity of 15.3 cubic feet.

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis is a decent sedan with a powerful powertrain setup and luxury-laden interiors.
