Overall Rating
The Maserati Ghibli is a midsize luxury sedan from the famed Italian manufacturer. It starts at an MSRP of $69,800 and goes up to $77,900 for the top-of-the-line S Q4 trim.
The Maserati Ghibli is a midsize luxury sedan from the famed Italian manufacturer. It represents artistic perfection along with a blend of modern technology that makes it a compelling buy for buyers of luxury sedans. It starts at an MSRP of $69,800 and goes up to $77,900 for the top-of-the-line S Q4 trim.
Although the Maserati Ghibli is offered only in two trim levels, it is quite hard to pick between them because they both offer very compelling options. On one hand, the price of the base trim, which is $69,800, makes it a decent choice, but at the same time, the S Q4 is significantly more capable due to its all-wheel-drive system as well as its higher tuned engine. This is the reason why it makes for a better pick.

The 2015 Maserati Ghibli is available only in two trims that do not have much difference between them. These trims are powered by the same 3L V6 engine that produces 345 hp and 369 pound-feet of torque in the base trim, while it is tuned up to produce 404 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque in the higher trim. The feature list for the base trim itself is quite plenty as it comes with 19-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlamps, keyless ignition and entry, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, 8.4-inch touchscreen display, eight-speaker sound system, and so on.

There is only one engine available in the Maserati Ghibli, and that is a 3L turbocharged V6 power plant which makes for quite a symphony. However, this engine is available in two different states of tune in the two trims the car is offered at.
The base trim has an output of and 345 hp and 369 pound-feet of torque and is available only with rear-wheel drive. The S Q4 is better tuned and makes 404 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque. The only transmission offered is an eight-speed automatic and paddle shifters remain optional on both trim levels. The car is adequately fast as its 0 to 60 mph time is around 5.5 seconds even for the base trim.

Despite having a very respectable performance, the Maserati is the slowest car in comparison. However, it is the BMW 550i that has the best performance credentials in the lot. However, these differences remain very much marginal as the 0 to 60 mph times are not different by a whole lot. All cars feel adequately quick and fun to drive.
The Maserati does not exactly lead the fuel efficiency figures despite it being very new in terms of technology. It is only a moderately efficient engine, which is rated at 19 MPG combined, 17 MPG in the city, and 24 MPG on the highway, which is not bad for something its size. But when you add the fact that it has a 21.1 gallons tank, it returns a decent fuel range between 358 miles to 506 miles on a full tank of gas, which is way more than necessary.

In comparison, the Audi offers excellent fuel efficiency figures. The BMW’s extra performance does pay a small penalty in the department of fuel efficiency in the city but not anywhere else. The Audi is also pretty fuel-efficient and leads the class with excellent figures. The Mercedes has the most range because it has a large fuel tank combined with decent fuel efficiency.
The interiors of the Maserati are not particularly very attractive. This is due to the use of some very bad quality materials in the switchgear, whereas you find very premium plus materials for its seats, dashboard, and so on. This lack of overall build quality makes one not a big fan of the interiors and hence space can be improved. However, it offers decent storage space as well as cargo capacity.

In comparison, the Audi A7 has the most spacious rear row seats at 36.6/55.9/37.0 for head/shoulder/legroom and is significantly larger and more spacious for passengers. Compared to this, the Maserati feels a bit cramped. The BMW has the lowest cargo space at 15.3 ft.³ of storage, whereas the class-leading capacity is of the Audi with 24.5 ft.³. Some of its interior features include:
The infotainment unit in the Maserati Ghibli is an 8.4-inch touchscreen system that is both intuitive and easy-to-use. However, the system was featured in many cheaper cars from the Chrysler group and hence attracts a bit of slack. It has controls that are very much visible and remain very uncluttered and easy-to-use. Few standout infotainment features available with the sedan are-
Despite all of its faults, one thing that the company does really well is design very good-looking cars. And that is true for the Ghibli as well. It does not feel big and burly like a four-door sedan, instead seems like a coupe that has been extended for more space. The proportions are also very nice, and dimensionally the sedan is quite big.

In the IIHS crash test, the car has scored the best possible rating of ‘Good’ in the moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact, and roof-strength tests. The 2015 Maserati Ghibli is a car that only appeals to very few people. The reason is that it proves to be a bit of a contrast when it comes to the quality that is offered in the car. On one hand, you get ready plush leather and wood accents, while on the other, you get switchgear from much cheaper cars from the Chrysler group itself. On one side, it performs well, but on the other, is not very reliable. Since it is a confusing car, it would not be a wise idea to recommend it.
