Overall Rating
The 2015 Porsche Cayenne is available in multiple engine options over a variety of trims that make one available for every requirement. The powerful engine options range from a 3.6-liter V6 and a 4.8-liter V8.
The Cayenne revolutionized the way people looked atPorsche. The launch of anSUV vehicle meant that Porsche’s line of expertise was not going to be limited to the coupe and sedan segments, but the brand was now ready to enter the more practical passenger car segment. The 2015 Cayenne summarizes the 2nd generation of the vehicle derived in 2011.
Ever since then, the SUV has been updated with new powertrains and some facial features. However, its authoritative acceleration followed by unprecedented agility is nonetheless rewarding for enthusiasts and owners alike. This year, the party is even more interesting, since the Cayenne receives a revised suspension, a bump in horsepower, along with enhanced fuel economy. There’s also a couple of surprise features in store for you.
The best value amongst all the different trim levels available is from the S variant. It has a very capable V6 engine, while also being equipped with a decent number of standard features. Additionally, Porsche offers nearly all of its features as options on all of the trim levels, and hence, buyers can even get specific features without having to pay the full price of the higher trim levels.

There is a small alteration in the layout of trims for Cayenne this year. Supposedly, the lineup will now begin with the S and will be limited to only three gasoline variants - S, Turbo, and Turbo S. Apart from that, the powerhouse gets a new V6 under the hood. There are a few updates on styling, but at large, the Cayenne retains its original posture.
Meanwhile, there is plenty on offer with the Cayenne, even with the base trim. And now that the lineup is reduced to three, there might be even more saturation of features. Near the top of the line, the Turbo gets a turbocharged 4.8-liter V8, and finally, we have the top variant, Turbo S, which makes a comeback for 2015 with a more powerful V8 and carbon-fiber interior inserts.

All of the Cayenne variants come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, including an automatic start-stop system, which reduces fuel consumption except for the Diesel variant. The SUV also gets all-wheel-drive as standard, however, there are two different kinds, where the Diesel and the S E-Hybrid get a single-mode system along with a self-locking center differential and the rest of the variants get an active system that comes with two more off-road modes and a locking rear differential.
The Cayenne S has a 3.6 liter V6 that makes 300 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, which honestly, are not earth-shattering numbers, but still, it can be an adequate daily driver to go around in the city. Meanwhile, the turbocharged 3.6 liter V6 makes 420 hp and 406 lb.-ft. of torque, a significant bump from the base V6.

No matter which engine is under the hood of the Cayenne, the flawless handling and exquisite steering feel of the Cayenne is what makes it a gold standard among sport SUVs. Cornering in the Cayenne is done with little to no body roll when equipped with the PDCC system, which makes it essential for anyone looking to have some fun in their Cayenne. The firm ride of the SUV is more noticeable during more relaxed driving, but it is not unbearable. However, the small side-view mirrors can make maneuvering traffic a little difficult.
The fuel economy of the Cayenne is varied due to the different engine types available. The Cayenne base has a fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined. However, the best fuel economy numbers are of the Diesel, with 20 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined. Hence, the S really turns out to be a great combination of fuel efficiency and performance. Although, there is a twist waiting ahead for you.

Porsche is historically a sports car manufacturer, and it is inappropriate to expect anything but extravagance from any of its vehicles. Despite this fact, the Cayenne exhibits the traits of a passenger vehicle, and that too, keeping itself above the competition. Precisely, Cayenne’s base engine is more economical than any of its direct rivals. Sitting low at the bottom is the Land Rover Range Rover with a combined economy of 16 mpg, while it is followed by the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350.
Inside the SUV, one will find the common three-spoke steering wheel design, but adorned with the Porsche coat of armor at its center and buttons and controls mounted on either side of the wheel. The interior is covered in high quality and soft materials. All of the cheap plastic surfaces can be covered in expensive trim of leather, wood, faux suede, or carbon fiber even.Â
The standard eight-way power seats are comfortable enough for most people, however, the eighteen-way powered seats are available for those who want their seating position to be precise to their liking. The rear seats are sculpted, reclining and also sliding to and fro, which gives a little more cargo space.

One glance, and you immediately notice two things about the 2015 Porsche Cayenne. First is the abundance of muscular curves hinting at the Cayenne's speed-and-performance mission. Second, those curves all blend into an unmistakably Porsche brand identity. We are actually lucky to get the figures concerned with the interiors since Porsche makes sure that its secrets are kept hidden under the rug. For a first, Porsche’s cabin is quite enormous, but as is the Land Rover Range Rover’s cabin. Secondly, the Cayenne derives the smallest boot in the segment. Few key interior features include-
The 2018 Porsche Cayenne SUV features an advanced PCM (Porsche Communication Management) 4.0 infotainment system. The 7-inch infotainment display is equipped with a 10-speaker premium sound system on the board. The Cayenne S features a Bose sound system.
The display offers good details and contrast levels and is easy to navigate. The stylish dashboard buttons are convenient and offer premium looks. The connectivity features include Bluetooth, an Auxiliary input jack, and USB ports. Apple CarPlay isn't standard, though it can be added at additional costs, you can connect your iPod. Major infotainment features include-
The exterior of the Cayenne looks unmistakably Porsche, which is hardly a bad thing. Porsche also has not made too many styling changes to the Cayenne since its launch. Design-wise, it has almost a coupe-like sloping front and rear design, which is becoming more and more common among performance SUVs.
This basically means, if the buyer likes Porsches, they will love this car as well, and even if they do not have any such biases, they probably will still find it to be a stylish and handsome SUV. The sloping rear roofline does, however, mean reduced cargo room and visibility.

The Porsche Cayenne is a bit shorter than the rest of the cars and is hardly noticeable. However, the big difference comes in the curb weight, where the Porsche is the lightest of the above SUVs. In comparison, Land Rover turns out to be the heaviest of the lot at 5,665 lbs. Major exterior features enhancing the overall appearance of the SUV are-
The Porsche Cayenne comes with antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front and rear side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags as standard. Also, the "multi-collision brake system" is standard as well, which automatically slows down the vehicle to a crawl of 6 mph in case of an initial collision, to reduce further damage. The 2015 Porsche Cayenne has not been tested by IIHS and NHTSA. Few key safety features include-
The Cayenne is quite literally the Porsche of SUVs, and what a wonderful thing that is! It has the performance to excite even the dullest of souls along with exquisite comfort and luxury to pamper the most spoilt of people. The car might not always make perfect sense, but it makes up for it by being extremely fun. Additionally, Porsche provides enough options and packages to customize the Cayenne precisely to one's liking and make it truly their own. It's one of the finer choices among SUVs, one that would suit the gentleman in you perfectly.
